North Carolina State University at Raleigh Top Questions

I feel like out of all of the "larger" instutions in NC, NCSU is the most conserative one. Unfortunately the whacks and loonies are the ones that always seem to present their ideas, via protests or obnoxious signs.

The student body may be large, but I can save them all.

My experiences have all been good. No student would feel left out here. Most students wear sweat suits or jeans and a sweat shirt to class. Yes diff. types of students interact. I don't understand the 4 table thing and don't know where most the students are from...NC I guess. Rich people do attend here but I don't think their most prevalent, I would have to say middle-class. Students are politically aware,but not as much as they could be. No students dont talk about how much they will earn one day.

I feel sometimes people on campus or the general body can be too conservative and not open minded to new ideas and groups. But i think it is really working to change that and I love that about the school. When we see a problem we try to educated people and teach them to be more respectful of people.

Every once and a while you'll run into groups that you may not agree with, but they're just exercising their right to free speech. I don't mind all the groups on campus, as long as they don't get in my way when I'm trying to go to class. I don't feel left out, because there is a group for everyone on this campus. Students wear what they want to to class. Some where PJ's or sweat pants, some get all dressed up, its really your perogative. Everyone pretty much gets along really well, if you have a problem with someone, its really easy to just avoid them. Its a large campus. If there are only four tables in the dining hall,and I had to describe them, I'd say "there are four tables filled with students in the dining hall". People don't tend to segregate themselves. We're not in high school anymore. People at NCSU are from everywhere...really. I wouldn't say that financial backgrounds are prevelent unless that person lets you know. I'd have to say the campus as a whole is pretty conservative. Then again we are in the south.

My experiences with various minority communities on campus are very welcoming--for example, at the religious organizations on campus, you are welcome to join them in their activities, regardless of your faith. I can honestly say that I cannot think of a single type of student that would feel out of place here. As far as what students wear to class, most of us dress down--the typical blue jeans, t-shirt, etc. Students interact on a regular basis with each other, all from various groups. Most NCSU students are from in-state, however, a significant portion of the student population is either out-of-state or international. The 4 tables of students in the dining hall are easily student government people, major organization leaders, dorm buddies, and the average joe students. The financial background most prevalent here is lower-middle to middle class. A large percentage of students are at the least politically aware, with a smaller population being active. Most are center. Most students mention how much they will earn one day every once in awhile for purposes of self-motivation; however, this talk isn't a daily thing.

There is a wide range of individuals, which makes states campus what it is. Probably LGBT. Jeans and shirts. On occassions. I have never eaten at the dining hall. Most are from Charlotte. Middle to upper class. Some are, most aren't. I think it's a mix of left and right. Yes, making the most money is always a topic.

There is a lot of diversity around campus in all of these areas. I don't think anyone would really feel out of place at NCSU, there is a little bit of everything here. T-shirt and jeans, casual things. Yes all the time. Most students are from NC. I would say middle class students are most prevalent. A lot are politically aware and active, but I'm sure there are plenty of those who are apathetic to the whole political thing. No one really talks about how much they will earn, but they talk about how they want a good job that will support them.

I do not like a lot of those types of groups because they are very close minded. I do not think anybody would feel out of place at nc state, we are very diverse. A lot of people wear comfty clothes to class. Everybody interacts with everybody! A lot of student that eat in the dining hall just eat with a few friends or their roommate. NCSU students are from everywhere around the country mostly south east though. Financial backgrounds are diverse as well. Most students are politically aware and active.

The student body is very diverse and can not be described as a whole. Most of the students here are from North Carolina.

The LGBT center here at NCSU did not go over very well with most of the students.

I live in a private dorm which doesnt allow me to eat at the dining hall. NCSU students come from all over. I have met alot of people from Raleigh and Charlotte however, just because i think they are large towns. I think there are lots of students who are politically active. I actually just registered to vote and have been watching the new reports on this election.

Students are somewhat politically aware and active. I think NCSU students are predominantly right but the teachers are predominantly left. Students don't generally talk about how much they will earn one day. I think just about any student could feel in place at NCSU. I see a lot of diversity around campus.

The only problem I have with religion on campus in the men in the brickyard. While I know they are not affiliated with NCSU, I feel that they try to divide our campus. Religion is important to many students here, but many do not agree with what these men are saying. I do not think that any student would feel out of place at NCSU. We have organizations for any ethnicity or gender. NCSU really makes an effort to make everyone feel comfortable.

NCSU is a very diverse campus and I think for the most part everybody gets along. Students wear whatever they want to class, cute little sundresses to comfortable sweats or pajamas. Different types of students do interact because of the constant contact that come in. Most NCSU students are from North Carolina and rural areas. There are some very politically aware students but not as much as at other schools.

I have no problem with the different support groups around campus. Some people feel they're unnecessary, but I think it's a great idea. The campus is big enough and there are so many different people that virtually no one would feel out of place. It might take some time to find the right group, but I'm sure it's there. Most students are from parts of NC, but there are a good number that are from out of state.

i think we are very diverse. we have all kinds of clubs, so anyone can fit in and find some people like them. there are more conservative people here due to the fact theres lots of agriculture people. different types of students interact with ease.

The official dress code seems to be T-shirts all around. We're a pretty casual bunch of people, and those people who are not casual are doing their best to seem so.
