Ohio State University-Main Campus Top Questions

It is a big school. The campus has over 50,000 students. It can be a bad thing becuase it is hard to get to class on time with all the students rushing to class. Transportation can be a hassle.

The worst thing would probably be having to walk the long distances to certain classes because it can get tiring, but if the weather is nice, its not bad at all.

There is really only one thing that I find to be the worst thing and that is the fact that it costs so much for commuting students. In order to communte you have to have a parking pass which are extremely expenssive! For a year of parking on campus it will easily run over $150. That is a lot for students who have to then buy hundreds of dollars worth of books and for some have to worry about paying for school.

The largest disadvantage to The Ohio State University is the overwhelming competition for scholarships. Minorities are given preference to a majority of the scholarships available, leaving me at a financial disadvantage.

I consider the worst thing about the school is the lack of training for grad students who teach. Many times I have been subjected to disorganized instructors who make rules regarding assignments that they do not follow. Such as not having papers or assignments graded and returned in a timely mannor or taking vacations in the middle of terms.

There does seem to be this pressure to be a party maniac. Sure, partying is great, but in moderation. Not every day of the week...I have grades to keep in mind!

The size of the school makes it much more difficult to have a real relationship between yourself and your advisor. Scheduling classes can be a hassle.

classes are too big. professors are sometimes more interested in their reasearch than their students.

I really have not had any bad experiences with Ohio State and feel in general in is a great place for me to learn and get my education.

Since I do no enjoy football, I would consider the worst thing about my school to be the intense focus on its football team. I understand the large revenue that the team brings in and I appreciate it because it helps my academics. At the same time I wish so much of the social life in the fall quarter didn't revolve around football.

The worst thing at this school is that middle class white people get over looked for financial assistance. This is mainly because there are a lot of students from very different ethnic and cultural and religious backgrounds. I was an honors student, an athlete, and very active in my school with over a 4.0 GPA. I did not receive any financial aid after all of my hard work that I had done throughout all of my high school career.

It is very difficult for me to think of anything bad to say about my school. If i had to choose one thing it would be its location somewhat near to a less than desirable area on its south-east side. However, campus security does an excellent job of preventing crime from occuring on campus and keeping the students safe.

Any non-academic office (i.e. registars, fees & deposits, financial aid) it seems like they are just trying to fnish the day. They are not very helpful and sometimes it just makes you want to quit alltogether.

I don't think they advisors are very accesible for general education courses. The major specific advisors, however, are amazing and have an open-door policy.

Although it is pretty diverse, certain aspects are ssegregated.

Ohio State is so large that you will probably never have the same professor twice. There is little opportunity to build report with any one professor. You will probably never see the same classmate twice either.

Lecturers could be more personable, and lectures themselves could be more brief if only the slides of a powerpoint are being discussed.
