The large classrooms

Worst thing was getting lost in the crowd. with such a big campus, so many students, several large classes and many professors that taught many classes it was easy to get lost among it all and not get enough individualized attention.

Parking. There are so many people that 1st and 2nd rank students don't get to park close to main campus area. Even those who are eligible to park close to campus choose to buy permit for distant parking because of permit rates and the race to get a spot on closer parking lots. So they choose to park away and take bus.

Size being too big.

I think what people think the worst thing is is the size. But honestly once you get here and find your classes the campus isn't all that big. It spans a lot of area but your secluded to a small area.

I wish there were more opportunites for internships as an undergrad.

The worst thing about my school is the lack of African Americans that attends here.

The money. It cost a lot to go here and if you don't have parents who are at the top of the social scale that can pay your way or if they're not at the bottom and you can get a lot of finacial aid then your doing a lot paying out of pocket. So you have to work in order to pay your own way to school and can't enjoy what this great school really has to offer.

EXPENSIVE

It can seem big at times, and you have to depend on a map to find your way around for the first couple weeks.

I feel that because there are so many students the school is very competitive. Sometimes it is hard to know exactly where you stand comparitively to other students because classes are not curved until the end of the quarter. Also since there are so many students it is often hard to get into the classes that one needs to take a specified time because they fill up so quickly.

For me personally, the worst thing about my school is the out of state fee that I am charged for not being an Ohio resident. I have a extra $6000 or so tacked onto my tuition. Because the economy is in such a sham, getting the extra money to help cover tuition has been more difficult than ever.

There is some diversity and they encourage diversity but it is clear to the eye that I am the minority.

The worst thing I consider about my school is the size. It is true that you can make a big school small, but it is harder to make really good friends since you might have a class with them once a week for a quarter, and then never see them again. You also have a lot of professors who are researchers, not teachers, so some classes are really hard to understand. These same classes are really big so you can't just stop the professor to ask questions.

OSU is a big sports school, and because of that there is a lot of emphasis on drinking and football. This is only a problem if you let it be, and there is a way to balance school and social life, but a lot of incoming students fall into the trap of partying all night and then skipping classes to sleep. It's a hard cycle to get out of, so I would recommend that students avoid getting caught in it.

Walking in the cold weather on a huge campus

I think the worst thing about the school is that the financial aid is so hit or miss. It can be very difficult to get it sometimes.

Because of the size of the campus and the number of students attending, it can sometimes be hard to get individual help from professors. But, teachers do try to do their best to accomodate students' individual needs.

The avalability of Financial Aid to very needing students.

The honors program is pretty lame. The only reason most people are in it is to schedule earlier than the other students, which is a big deal when there are so many people and some smaller classes.
