What's your overall opinion of Olympic College?

Arianna - 01/19/2025

In my opinion, Olympic College is an overall great school. As a community college, it doesn’t have dorms or campus dining facilities, but there is a pantry available for students in need of food, and a small student store where you can purchase food and drinks. I’ve only attended the Shelton campus, so I can’t speak to the Bremerton campus. The professors are dedicated to their office hours, making it easy for students to ask questions or get help when needed. As a Running Start student, I’m attending part-time, but I can confidently say that Olympic College is a wonderful place to study, whether you’re just starting your college journey or working toward completing a degree.

Madeline - 11/23/2024

As a community college, Olympic offers a decent education and serves as a good place to start your college adventures. I found it fairly easy to get into the classes I needed, and I was also pleasantly surprised by the variety of classes available for my electives.

Melanie-Anne - 06/20/2020

Olympic College gave me an emotional home as I learned what college education was like. The staff members are fairly friendly and the environment is more about learning than anything else. I've never had a true sense of community before Olympic College, but now I feel sad to leave it when I graduate. I feel happy overall that I've found a wonderful College to attend.

Madeline - 05/12/2020

I love this college. It is very safe, and there are some of the kindest and most helpful teachers you will ever meet at this school.

Daisey - 12/16/2019

Olympic College is a great place to start off. The professors are very gracious with students for the most part and they want to see you succeed. The classes are nice, the views around are nice, and the students are nice as well! I would highly recommend Olympic College if you’re looking for somewhere to start off at.

Caleb - 10/30/2019

I really enjoy Olympic College and recommend it to anyone who has graduated from high school and has a fair idea of what they want to major in. I think it would be really wise to check it out, as public colleges are less expensive than universities and it's a good starting point be if you want to pursue a career in Engineering or Culinary Arts.

Leta - 09/14/2019

I will miss this college with all my heart since I'm graduating this quarter. My teachers were amazing. They are here to help student's in need of any kind of help. They adjust assignments or tasks according to the situation, if you keep communication. There are many recourses that help with financial or other struggles. This school is very community success based. I have made many friends and role models that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I have over come many assignment struggles, hard work, and life barriers. The classes were fun, challenging, and worth every bit of knowledge. It will be hard saying goodbye but I am very proud of my accomplishments.

Gregory - 09/10/2019

My overall opinion of Olympic College is that it is a great institution that strives beyond its station. As a community college, there is more opportunities an expression of higher learning going on there than the standard. Olympic College puts effort into itself and its students beyond the cost of tuition.

Marietta - 07/23/2019

While Olympic College has many interesting classes and helpful professors, overall, the college is mediocre. The classes are not very challenging. Most students do not know each other very well, partially because the majority live off-campus. The area around the Bremerton campus is not very safe or interesting, but the area around the Poulsbo campus is great. However, the facilities are nice, the class size is normally between two and three dozen, the food is good (though terribly overpriced), and there is a large variety of classes students can take to pursue their interests.

Alexandra - 05/29/2019

Overall, Olympic College is an amazing community college and a great place for young freshman to learn about campus life. Advisors and professors are readily available, and students can be found all over playing games, studying, or hanging out. I’ve enjoyed my two years here and would highly recommend it.

Taylor - 05/01/2019

The academics and the teachers themselves are great for the most part, I played on the softball team for OC which was also a great experience but the school could use some upgrades. The entire campus feels somewhat old/historic. They just put in a new science and tech building which I have not seen. The gym and yoga room that doubled as the softball and baseball hitting room needs a lot of work. Our softball field was beautiful, right on the water! Other teams would come to our home field and take their team pictures because the scenery was so pretty! I also LOVE the sports director Barry!!

devyn - 01/06/2019

I really enjoy the school. There are lots of Running Start students, meaning that the median age of the school may be a bit lower than regular university, however all the students are very academic and mature. I have enjoyed all of my teachers so far, as they are very flexible, understanding, etc. They have 3 campuses which offer a variety of classes, most being held in Bremerton, but a lot being held in Poulsbo as well.

Ashley - 12/13/2018

People here are just around for class, nothing else. Community College is a nice way to save money or get a fresh start, but don't expect a traditional college experience. The quality of class is super dependent on the professor. There's not a ton of scheduling options, like you would have at a big university, but definitely enough option to make what you need work. Often there is only one professor for each subject. Still a great way to get some gen eds out of the way before transferring to a university. The one exception is the nursing program, which i have only heard good things about.

David - 05/11/2018

Olympic College is overall; to me, a great school for educational purposes and that professors are there to teach you the subject you are enrolled under. Professors were hired from strict board members under rigorous standards for the school. The student body within the campus is great and that I would love to recommend this community college to my friends back at my hometown.

Aly - 04/08/2018

Olympic College is a very, warm-welcoming community college. It may be in a small, not very well-known town called Bremerton, but don't be turned down. There are plenty of fast-food restaurants, oriental restaurants, and even a newly, designed outlet called The Trails. Other than that, Olympic College consists of dedicated students and teachers and staff who are willing to help others and are friendly.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I were to go back in time and give myself advice on the future I would have told myself that working towards a goal, whether something specific or just something general, has the most amazing effect on your attitude and spirit. Bettering yourself through school just makes you feel so proud of yourself and it really does show you that the possibilities are endless. I would have told myself not to give up my hobbies just because I had to become a working adult and that hard work pays off in the long run. I would have told myself that going to college exposes you to so many new and wonderful life experiences. New friends, smart teachers with information they are just dying to share, new ways of thinking about how life, the world, and people work, and most of all something to look forward to every day. 4. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

If I could go back to give myself advise for college I would tell myself to get involved in as many programs as I can like robotics. I would also tell myself to put my xbox in a cardboard box and don't touch it. I would warn myself about my future dorm-mates and say to get your own fridge with a lock on it and the library has superb study rooms on the bottom floor. Most importantly I would tell myself not to give up.

  5. What kind of person should not attend this school?

Its hard to imagine who shouldn't attend this school it has so much diversity of races ethnicity, age and handicap. Therefore I believe the person who really shouldn't attend this school, is someone who isn't willing to accept diversity formost. A biggot ,racist or elitist attitude will clearly make that student an offense to his or her classmates. The student who has an issue in this reguard will not enjoy campus life himself and probably make him or herself isolated in relation to any interaction among his or her peers. It would be wise to enroll elsewhere.

  10. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Olympic college is located close to my parents home in Port Orchard and the olympic pennisula. Olympic College also supports the Department of defense training of DOD civilians through an apprentice/ helper program which makes it unique because of the type of students it attracts " the veteran". Olympic college is in an economic environment that is healthy mainly from the defense industry and also has an attractive almost rural quality where students feel safe and confident to learn. I enjoy the interesting campus diversity of students, faculty and the quiet serenity of the campus layout. I recommend O.C. always!

  12. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

For me personally, the engineering club is awesome! They have several projects that they work on throughout the school year and raise their own money for each one. Last year they had a dunk tank to raise money for more projects! There are also several different clubs for various internet and console games, and even just gaming in general. All of the clubs are very inviting and want students to get involved in the school.
