I like it a lot. It has a nice environment, good people, fun places to go, air is good, fun pool time. The dorms are good, also very comfortable, Not too hot or cold most of the time. I did not see many people but the ones I did see looked nice. Yes.

When I went on a visit to Pacific Lutheran University, it was a really amazing experience. The reason why was because of the people I met and they were all very friendly and really encouraging. I have been on plenty of visits but here at Pacific Lutheran I felt really apart of this culture and like I was a part of there family and they separate themselves from other D3 colleges and big reason why I want to go here.

McKensi - 08/15/2021

Overall, I enjoyed my experience. I loved the small class sizes and the ability to have access faculty easily. But I do wish I would've gotten more out my education in terms of practical experience. The pandemic created difficulty for many especially in terms of gaining practical experience, however I believe there could've been better efforts made to improve this.

Xavier - 06/09/2020

It is an amazing school with just the right amount of students. The class sizes are small enough to allow for 1:1 learning with the professors. The professors are almost always available to help and are always willing to help students. There is also a great tutoring program.

Kristen - 05/17/2020

I am at Pacific Lutheran University for my second degree- Graduate Nursing. I went to a small liberal art college in the midwest for my undergraduate, so I am used to the expensive tuition and intimate class settings. However, I honestly feel like I am paying too much for the quality of campus life and education there.

Joy - 03/25/2020

The campus is beautiful! I took the tour as was exploring colleges to go to. The tour guide was exceptional! She was outgoing, informative, and easy to talk to. More importantly she was excited about the school. As I went back for a second visit, the tour guide I had was the same! Super excited about the school and personable. Every person I met on the campus was relational. That is the reason I chose this college. Above any other college I visited, PLU was the one that I felt most at home with, I fell in love with the community and culture and that's why it was it was so easy to choose this school.

Marie - 03/22/2020

Pacific Lutheran University is known for its small class sizes and approachable teachers. The academics challenge the students which is good preparation for graduate school, businesses, etc. There is a requirement to live on campus for at least a year or unless you are 20+, but I live in T-stad and we have themed floors. For example, I live on the Wellness floor that focuses on mental health, fitness, nutrition, etc. throughout the school year and we keep each other accountable.

Kaila - 01/30/2020

Pacific Lutheran University has been a very nice change of pace from my small town high school. Back at home a lot of people my age are very closed-minded, but here at college most people at least listen or care about what you have to say. I finally started finding a group of people, friends that I actually identify with rather than just having people to have people. The coursework as a Music Ed major is VERY rigorous, there's no denial about that. But all the music faculty is very caring and helpful, all the professors I've had in all departments just want to see students succeed. One of my favorite things is the amount of professors, mine and others, that grades work and tests on your process, and will give partial credit for a partial right answer if you've only made a simple mistake. The environment here is definitely focused on personal and educational growth, which the community, faculty, and students help to foster.

Anna - 01/20/2020

I was a commuter student at Pacific Lutheran University, but I only attended for my first semester of college. The school itself was very beautiful with its brick buildings and luscious green lawns, and many of my fellow students were very nice and respectful. The academic portion of the college was also fairly good, and most of my professors displayed an interest in their students' success. My favorite class was my Anatomy and Physiology Lab because not only were students encouraged to discover answers to the given questions on their own, but they were also encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the information. Personally, this helped me retain the material much better because I was able to touch and experience the body systems while also clarifying topics by asking questions. Additionally, the professor for my Anatomy and Physiology Lab was fun and easy to talk to while also being respectful and professional. However, there were also times when I felt that some of my professors acted unprofessionally. Some would swear during their lectures and others would blatantly say they didn’t care what students did during their class. Despite this, I managed to glean the information needed to do well in my classes. Outside of class was a whole different story. Due to the fact that I was a commuter student, I felt very disconnected from the rest of campus. This was in part my fault, however, the community wasn’t as inviting or engaging as I needed which was why I ended up transferring to Northwest University.

Odette - 08/31/2019

Overall, PLU is a solid school. I have only had a few teachers I have had problems with, while the others are amazing. The atmosphere is positive, albeit a little "dear God, tuition is high and I have so much homework." I feel academically and emotionally supported at school and have resources to reach out to if I feel overwhelmed in any part of my college life.

TessaJaine - 08/17/2019

It is a very inclusive community with something for everyone. There isn't any push on religion even though it is a religion based school, everyones opinions are respected and treated equally. The school even has great employment options on and off capmus so students can earn money easily while still being close to school.

Sandra - 06/05/2019

I am a Hispanic in a private college that is mostly white dominated. I felt a culture shock when I first arrived, so I took refuge in a zone that I knew best, the Hispanic Studies department. For me, this was a great place to start. They are the reason I was able to navigate the campus and the professors beyond this department. I would not be as academically successful if it were not for their constant assistance on my behalf. The professors at PLU are there for the students. I have kept myself in the social sciences department and every professor without fail have spent their own time working with me, encouraging me and just making sure that I am okay. PLU is holistic in how it views it's students. There are opportunities for engagement for everyone and anyone. What I liked the most about PLU is how engaged it is with the community. It views the community as a place to serve and not as a place that serves them. I grew up around the Parkland area where PLU is located, however, there is so much more I see when I come in with the mentality to help rather than to see what I can get out of it.

Zenaida - 04/29/2019

Pacific Lutheran is one of the best universities around. A student can actually get to know their professor. They have a great study abroad program and they make it as accessible as it can be to everyone. The student community is very engaging and involved.

Exiya - 03/12/2019

Pacific Lutheran University has given me the opportunity to be myself wherever I go. There are many opportunities that are given to succeed in school and life in general. I’m happy because I feel welcome and safe, and that’s something other school don’t have.

Noelani - 02/19/2019

I absolutely love it! The campus isn't exactly the most aesthetically pleasing one out there, but that doesn't matter as much to me as I thought it would coming in to college. The community is what is especially impressive to me. Every single person I have met here is incredibly kind and social; Everyone here is friendly! And the classes are also very impressive. The class size is optimal because there are small numbers for the most part. And the classes are intellectually stimulating. I haven't taken a class yet that doesn't teach me valuable information or that I dislike for any reason. I would definitely recommend this school for anyone looking to apply soon.
