Pellissippi State Community College is a highly sought after college for transfer students who wish to have strong academic credentials and academic foundations before transferring to the numerous prestigious colleges they are partnered with in the state of Tennessee. Many majors are offered and are available for transfer to over 10 colleges or universities. In fact, Pellissippi is the number one transfer program at University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

I think Pellissippi State Community College is a great community college. The professors are very helpful and are always open to working with their students. We often have events to encourage students to get involved, which can help students take their minds off academics for a quick second. I honestly would recommend Pellissippi State Community College for those interested.

Great 2 yr. community college. Great college for dual-enrollment students. Tuition is free due to the Hope Scholarship funding. There a a lot of online courses and the professors are always available for help. The dual enrollment program is great and there is a dual-enrollment grant available for high school students.

It is a great school. The teachers really do care about their students. I was able to learn a lot during my time there. The teachers were very good at helping students get the best grade possible while also being fair. The campus is clean and very easily accessible.

I have not been on campus but when I call the college I only like to call in the afternoon because in the morning the lady on the phone is not very into her job. The advisors are very kind and knowledgeable. I will be doing online classes and am excited to obtain my biology degree.

Pellissippi has been my home away from home for the past two years, and I've enjoyed almost every minute of it. The teachers, all but one, have been over the top amazing. They have a passion to teach and are willing to help students succeed. This upcoming Fall I'm on schedule to transfer to a four year school, and I'm sad to be leaving Pellissippi. I have had so many good experiences here with the wonderful teachers that I've had and the friends that I've made since returning to school two years ago.

In my opinion Pellissippi is one of the best community colleges out there!

Overall, Pellissippi is a mixed bag. The best things about it are its affordability and small class sizes. It's a college I can actually pay for out of pocket and I don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of people on campus. However, there are a few downsides. Most of their classes are at their main campus, and, at times, it feels like the other campuses are not cared for as much. I addition to that, it can be a roll of the dice on what type of teacher you get. Some teachers are excellent and have a passion for what they teacher, while others are apathetic and sometimes just downright rude. When all is said and done, it's not the worst school to attend, but there definitely is room for improvement.

Pellissippi State Community College is a very welcoming and friendly community. The professors all show that they really care about the students in and out of class. There are many resources to help with academics such as free tutoring which I have personally used and have found is very helpful.

I really enjoy going to Pellissippi. The teachers and staff are very nice and helpful. The students are kind as well. We have study groups and go out for lunch while in school. The school is clean and organized. Overall, I have enjoyed my experience at Pellissippi.

I love the school. It has great professors that will stay after class and help you beyond the scope of the assignment. Pellissippi also has 5 campuses in my area so you get a different feel at each and you’re bound to find one close to you. I would highly recommend my school to anyone.

The teachers simply don't care about the students in online classes. There are a few good ones, but for the most part, they're unorganized, and in some cases disrespectful. I've taken eleven online courses here, and many of the teachers don't bother proof-reading assignment instructions, give out the wrong dates for assignments, usually take 5-7 days to respond to emails, &. wait until the last moment to grade assignments.

I love Pellissippi State Community College. The professors and students are very helpful and friendly. The campus is the perfect size. Everything is within easy walking distance and you rarely go a day without running into a friend you had not expected to see.

I have felt truly blessed to attend Pellissippi State in that through the TN Achieves I can be provided with excellent professors and education without going into debt. I have only had great experiences with my professors. They have all been readily accessible and willing to help at any time along with their out of class support. The campus is also really great in that there are always events that inform students of certain happenings either on campus or in our country. Recently the Student Life volunteers have set up various tables around campus to encourage students to register to vote. I have so far had a great college experience.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Focus, dedication, and determination are all needed in the college world. Assuming I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior I would give myself a lot of advice. I would advise to work on my study skills. In college hours are needed to perform well on tests and exams. Study skills in high school are not stressed as much as they should be. I would also advise myself to fill out more financial aid. Filling out the FAFSA was very helpful, but didn't cover everything. With the help of financial aid I would be "worry free" about the money and could completely focus on the academics. I would also give myself a warning of the difference. The difference between high school and college are like comparing black and white. In high school excuses are accepted and deadlines have exceptions. In college if you do not complete tasks within the deadlines no excuses are accepted and you are given zeros. Another differenece, if college classes are missed you fall behind others are it is very hard to catch back up. Altogether I would warn myself of the many differeneces of school levels.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Wifi was everywhere, you can communicate with your teachers alot more and that you can work on campus. i thought that was pretty amazing. I'm still learning, I dont know everything about this school yet, I just found out yesterday what the rec center is. I thought it was more of a gym for classes, not just for working out.
Pellissippi State Technical Community College is a great opportunity for students who are uncertain of what they are planning to do with their lives. I have been attending Pellissippi for one semester now and have already met a multitude of diverse and unique people. People from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles. Pellissippi has opened many doors for me personally. In the fall of 2011 I am planning to attend the University Of Tennessee and from their I plan to attain an elementary teaching degree. Pellissippi is a great school for students who want to build futures for themselves.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about attending Pellissippi State Community College is that when you are taking a specific, excedingly hard class, the best you can do is to try your best. Some classes are easier than others, but one class may be more challenging than the others. You may have to try harder, but if that strategy doesn't work out, you may need to just do the best you can and accept that limitation. When I am taking a class that is excedingly challenging for me , I set my minimum goal at a C, but if possible, an B.
The best thing about Pellissippi is that is a good transitional school for those new to college life. I've only been here a few weeks and I love it and cant wait to start on my degree, it's sad I have to transfer. It's actually a good school although what people say.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A person shouldn't attend this school if they're looking for more of the social aspect of college. A person should not attend this college if they want to be involved in sports and go to many sporting events.
I was having the worst day and I was really stressed. Plus, my shoes had broken and I had no money to replace them and the girls who run the office bought me a pair because they didn't want me walking around with bare feet in the cold.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I mean... I'm not even sure we have a stereotype. We do get a lot of farm boys from out in the deep woods, but I don't think that's perpetuated as who we are as a school. It's a fairly large school, to be honest. I think the stereotype--as is typical of all community colleges--is that we are somehow less intelligent/capable than those who attend the local private liberal arts college. Absolutely untrue.
Note. Intensive.
I'm currently taking Social Problems and Survey of World Religions. The former class writes only two boards worth of notes and implies a great deal to be learned from reading retention. The latter dumps so much information on you only to have the tests be mostly big ideas and vocabulary. It's a strange world.
Well, so far I've seen a guy come in looking like a farmhand who went through a wood chipper, a guy who went from his work uniform to a full suit and tie, a girl who has become more progressive orange with spray tans each day she comes to class, and the general messy but trying to be casual-professional student.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
It is affordable and works hard to help out students transition to Universities. Also, the small classes allow the teachers to help students one on one.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
94% of students attending Pellissippi State Community College receive some sort of financial aid.
48% were awarded federal grants.10%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
