I am currently enrolled in the nursing program at rio hondo college. Everything is great so far and I am expected to graduate in May 2021. The professors really prepare you to become a successful nurse. They are very knowledgeable and are always willing to help.

With a sound mind, and healthy desires to strive forward, I have determined in my heart to obtain the necessary credentials required for me to be able to secure a position as a substance abuse counselor. My thought is that then I can sow good things back into the organizations and communities that have blessed my life with another chance to be a success story. I want to give people hope and inspiration through my testimony by being a living example of how possibilities are endless for a better life. No matter how bad the situation might seem in the moment of suffering, it is possible to overcome and persevere. I have come to the understanding that first it is necessary for me to have healed in the areas where I have struggled in life. Second, I need to earn the credentials and recieve an education in the field that I wish to reach people in. Third, I have to put the first two steps into practice by combining my wisdom from experiences, and empathy with the education I obtain, so that I can be an effective member of the community who holds credibility towards advocacy and change.

Rio Hondo College needs to do better. There are never any available classes, the campus is due for an upgrade (where is all our tuition money going???), the office staff can be quite unapproachable, and their counselors are not very helpful. I have been at this school for almost four years because I cannot get the classes needed. I recently enrolled at another college and got the classes needed right away. Take it from me, get your education at a school that has its stuff together because Rio Hondo is not it. Sincerely, A Frustrated Student

I think it is a great school, everyone was really nice and friendly. I enjoyed meeting people from my class. My teachers were helpful and friendly. Although I ad to investigate a number of them in order to retain my proper grade. I was 100 percent on point with my due diligence and they were helpful and lucky enough to correct them in time avoiding legal charges. This was a great test for my ability as a person and a student. I thought the landscape of Rio Hondo was amazing. They had such plants like rosemary, purple sage and oak. There was a grand mountain side and even a nature reserve that needed a bit of work. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful. I never had any issues and I feel if I had a problem in the future they would be more then competent enough to help me. I trust them and I am extremely helpful for the advise and lessons given to me in the pursue of enlightenment. I am forever thankful to Rio Hondo College.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The advice that i would give myself is: take each day as it comes, consider each day a challenge in achieving a goal that in the end it will be worth it. In making mistakes learn from them and don't make them twice. Learn something new each day and challenge yourself in doing better in each class everyday. Listen, complete each task that is given to you and stay away from the bad influences. Even though it's hard pick out the best people, friends that are a good influence. Don't do things that may look right, but in reality they are wrong. The best way to achieve is to commit to your work and to your future. Because your future in the end is what it's gonna make you a successful person and you would not struggle in getting a good job. That's what we all want. A good job that would make more than enough, where you can support a family in the future and buy a house or simply enjoy life after all your hard work.
