I love it. I love the small class sizes, and also how close the community is. The dorms are small but livable. My classes are very interesting, and the professors are nice and there to help you succeed. My only problem is that freshmen cant have cars on campus.

The College of Saint Rose is particularly exhibits both positive and negative aspects of college life. In my case as a Forensic Psychology major I was particularly drawn to the college because it is one of very few institutions that offers this program, thus, my classes are very engaging. However, I do believe the school can do a better job incorporating more captivating courses, instead of the clowning course it offers, for example. I also feel the school does not offer the best financial support, and they do not offer the best advice to students experiencing financial difficulties. All in all, the College of Saint Rose is truly an institution for ambitious and passionate learners, more than anything, it is not the most party oriented, and there is no greek life on campus. Overall, The College of Saint Rose has very strong academic programs and learning opportunities, its small campus environment, however is not built for everybody.

The College of Saint Rose is a small, private college that welcomes each and everyone of its new and ongoing students. They often make you feel safe and included, and there is always someone you can talk to. The professors will go out of their way to help you and the students often will too. The scene is very sophisticated, elegant, & respectful. It’s a great place learn and feel comfortable. The school has made an exceptional effort to make class and learning fun and comfortable, and you have just about everything you need at your disposal! I love it here!

The College of Saint Rose is a awesome school! With plenty of clubs to join, free tutoring and small classrooms, it’s the kind of place I would love to be in. One of the opportunities that this college has that stood out to me is their internships. To me, having a stable education and a pathway into future careers , is very important. I will be able to study, work and gain experience.

It’s a small school, often feels like there’s not much to do. The professors care about your education, however, and I’ve made some amazing friends.

The buildings are really nice. Everyone has been really helpful in terms of getting me situated with things. The people are nice, both students and staff. There are usually art or music shows going on from the students. There are nearby pizza places and other restaurants to eat at. You can take the bus downtown as well.

It was a family for me. One of the best experiences of my life. I still talk to many peers and professors from this school. I grew as a person, a critical thinker and a designer. I wouldn't be who I am today or where I am today without Saint Rose. My sister even went her for her graduate degree after visiting me in undergrad. The campus is a small, tight knit community that values passion and growth.

When I first applied to college I wanted to go to a big SUNY school but, due to my father's wishes I ended up at Saint Rose. After my first semester at Saint Rose , I soon learned no matter how old you get your parents always know what's best for you. Everything that I could ask for in a college socially, academically, and geographically was present at Saint Rose. If you're someone who needs to be heard by your professors and like a learning environment in which you feel comfortable to express yourself freely as well as receiving an exceptional education; come be apart of the Golden Knight family. Due to the smaller population at the college, you really do feel as though you are apart of a family. Being that you're surrounded helpful, caring, and friendly staff and students, you'll always feel open and welcome to ask for help or to get some to eat with a new friend.
Saint Rose is located in the capital of New York, by attending this school you are lucky enough to experience all the history, culture, and many attractions that Albany has to offer. Even though Albany has a population of about 98,000(as of 2016) the pine hills neighborhood has a way of make you feel like you are in a small town. From all the extremely supportive businesses in the area, wonderful security and police staff , and the friendly students that inhabit the area;pines hills(the Saint Rose neighborhood) will soon become your home away from home.

The College of Saint Rose's motto is "Home." I think this is a perfect motto for the school because it has become my home. My home at Saint Rose is a place that I feel comfortable with myself, the campus, and the community around me. Here, I am able to further my education with a happy heart, and also help out my community. I love that Saint Rose focuses on community service, because it is something that I am passionate about. As the school helps me, I help the school and community around me, and have learned the value of life from being there. From the positivity, and the feeling of being welcomed shown throughout campus, students have an easy time finding out who they are and what The College of Saint Rose means to them. I hope that all future students gain a love for this school, and also find a home here, as I have.

Saint Rose is a college for specific personalities. At times one doesn't feel like the person that the professors want there. It is a college that revolves around music and basketball. the Music Ed program is based on classical music and not modern pop or r&b music. There is a gap in the students that ranges form NYC to other smaller unknown towns. Although during "Reach Out Saint Rose" everyone comes together. It is a small enough school to feel like there is a group for everyone but at the same time it is big enough that if there is an issue with one person you don't have to interact with them.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for The College of Saint Rose is 83%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
To begin with, I would advise my younger self to spend a great deal of time looking for scholarships and pushing for more hours at work. I would also tell my high-school-senior self that the work load in college is difficult, but not quite as frighteningly life-consuming as I had expected. My senior-self would probably have suffered much less stress had I been told that earlier. I would also advise younger-me to accept whatever work study programs I can, rather than listening to my aunt and uncle. They aren't the ones going to college right now. That is me, and I wish I would tell my younger self that it was my opinion that should have mattered when choosing which programs to accept from the FAFSA because, really, I should have accepted all of them. Then I wouldn't be struggling as much now. My senior-self would really have benefited strongly from knowing all of this.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The location. The surrounding neighborhood can be dangerous., and students need to be very careful. It seems that the bad part of town is creeping closer and closer to campus and almost engulfing it. Also, off-campus housing is expensive, but campus housing is limited and the required meal plan is not only unhealthy and overpriced, it's the reason I won't move back on campus.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
It is a small school where everyone knows each other. I really like that we are almost like a family, but SUNY Albany is still close enough for us to interact with.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
What I wish I had known before coming to Saint Rose is more information about the clubs/activities and amazing opportunitys offered on campus. This is one aspect of my college that was not spoken much about and wich that it was. As I went through my freshman year I learned about so many clubs and groups one could join. Saint Rose has so many things to offer that I never knew held in store for me.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school would have to be the same as the worst things as mentioned above; maintinence issues, scheduling of shuttle busses, and the amount of financial aid provided.
Best Thing about saint rose is that it is small so its easy for you to be big man on campus. I would change the close mindess of people on this campus. The school is way to small. When i tell people i got to saint rose is wow are you there for education.I spend most of my time in my dorm.Deff a college town when U albany goes on break its a dessert in Albany. The adminstration most are racists. The biggest controversy is the lack of diversity and no school pride. One experienve i will alway remember is in event board when they refused to accept new acts on campus.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
There is a big art/music culture at Saint Rose. Otherwise you have very typical small town Catholic school kids who haven't changed a bit, or kids from public schools in the Orange County and further north area. Very cliquey.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
100% of students attending The College of Saint Rose receive some sort of financial aid.
46% were awarded federal grants.85%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
