I like The University of the Arts very much, so much that I want to commit to this school but still looking for financial aid. It has a great faculty and an awesome program for an artist like me. I believe it can give me a lot of resources, tools and training to better my craft! The school is also surrounded by many theaters for which I can delve in and possibly work or be part of shows! I love that everything is accessible - there are plenty of restaurants with varied cuisines to choose from, the pharmacy is nearby, the hospital as well, the gym and some stores.

I came to UArts from New York City public school education. From my experience, UArts is definitely a huge step up. Their dorms are for the most part really great. From my experience and what I've heard, if you decide to live on campus go for Spruce or Juniper Halls. To me, a lot of the dining hall food is really good but as a picky eater it does get pretty repetitive in my opinion. The teachers in my department are pretty chill and nice and don't necessarily mind late work. Not saying you don't have to work hard. Fair warning though, there is a ministry next door to one of the campus buildings, so expect a bunch of homeless people gathered there randomly throughout the day. They are harmless though, just people doing their best. The school is great at hosting small little events through the months so there's at least one thing for you to do every week. However, its super expensive so you should expect that you might need to take out a loan. But who knows maybe you're better off than I. All in all, I give Uarts a solid 4.

UArts Is a pretty great school. I've had a several amazing teachers in the illustration program. The old buildings have a lot of character and are fun to wander around and explore. There's never a shortage of space if you need somewhere quiet to study or draw or nap. The big downside is the lack of a campus and the fact that you'll have to run several blocks between classes on Broad Street if you don't have a lot of flexibility in your schedule. Also, Philly isn't for the feint-hearted and you'll just need to be aware of your surroundings.

It is a good school. The environment is okay. Most people here are friendly. Sometimes it can be difficult to get to know people because the school does not have many social events. It's kind of weird because we are a University so I definitely expected there to be more social events. Otherwise, the school is okay. It is not a bad school, but there's room for improvement.

    In choosing a college or university the best advice I could possibly give would be to go with your gut instinct. Visit the campus, interact with the student body, spend a night in the dorms. When you find the right college you feel the fit right away. Don't fall into what your peers, teachers, or parents might want of you. In the end, you are the one spending four years of your life there, not them.

    The freedom and respect recieved by my teachers and peers which encourages a creative learning environment. Without the boundries of regimented classroom I amencouraged to interpret my teacher's assignments in my own way. Students presents their own creative idea instead of producing the same material an encourage each other's creative process.

    Our school is best known for being the only fully accredited university dedicated solely to the study of the arts. There are tons of working and well-known professionals in each field of study that the university offers. Also, the campus is extremely open-minded and diverse, encouraging people from all walks of life.

    What makes my school unique is that it is an art school. It is a school that highlights the arts, where most schools highlight sports.     The kind of person who is looking foward to making 100,000 a year coming out of college shouldn't attend my school. THe University of the Arts was build for artists of all fields to build on their respective form of art and passion and make a comfortable living doing it.

    The University of the Arts' students are a wide range of different intrests and personalities, in the visual arts program these students can be your stereotypical art kid, average school focused students, and of course the ones that party.

  9. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

    I wish I researched the outside internship opportunities. My fellow students that seemed to do the best post graduation meet great connections through their internships that helped springboard them. As a young, transfer student I did not know to take advantage of these professional resources.

  11. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

    There are no meal plans and the cafe that they have closes at 2pm. There are no vending machines. Sometimes it is hard to find food because we are all art students and spend a lot of time in our labs and studios. The tuiton is quite a lot when we have a lot of stuff that needs replacing or doesn't work properly

  12. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

    Because our school unfortunately doesn't have a student center, there is no sense of community. I think that a student center is crucial in an art university, since many of the art forms that we study require collaboration and I personally as a filmmaker need to know my schoolmates in other different faculties in order to create a good work.

  13. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

    When I brag about my school, I tell people about all the different courses that I can take sch as acting, jewelry making, and photography despite the fact that they are not my area of concentration. I also brag about our different shows in theater, voice and dance that are put on throughout the year as well ast the artsy community that our university is surrounded by.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
