I have been able to begin to develop my academic interests in a way that always me to grasp at many different aspects of education. As a double major in both English and Biology I take classes in many different aspects of learning, which allows me to open my mind and learn in different ways. My ultimate goal of becoming a teacher is really been developed here at the University of Arizona with this ability to double major. As a teacher i wish to foster in my students a love of learning, and my ability to learn in so many different aspects will give me a broader ability to acheive this.

My college experience has been interesting, a voyage to self-discovery. I feel I have learned a lot in the past year and a half about myself, the world I live in and the people that surround me. I can't imagine what my life would be like had I not attended college, but I know one thing, I would not have the wisdom I have now. Without a college education, a college experience, I would not be able to my best. I am going to graduate as a registered nurse and I am going to make a significant contribution to this world in my own little way. I would not be able to do that without this school. Tucson has brought me a lot of joy, being in the sunny weather, eating Mexican food at least once a day, attending college classes... I am absorbing everything around me so that I can fully manifest into the person I will one day be.

I find it strange to reflect back on just these past few months, and acknolwedge the growth and maturation I've underwent. From getting into the Brain Imaging, Behavior, and Aging Lab, a research lab interested in Alzheimer's Disease to designing my own Slime Mold study in my Biology Lab, I have almost become an entirely new individual. Upon exiting high school, I could never expect these drastic changes to take place. With a campus with literally as many people as my hometown of Carlsbad, NM, I meet new individuals every day. But beyond these wonderful, eye opening experiences, I have grown close to a family of individuals whom share in the Flinn Scholarship experience. New ideas, fresh minds, and open hearts all greeted me upon my entry to college. And, it gave me a home. My college experience is more than just textbooks, testing, and papers. It's about the people and the experiences we've come to share in. From an interesting poetry session with the famed Gary Synder to a lecture on the application of Buddhism to treating addiction, I'm learning about others, and myself in the process. Learning this shaped my life.

The experiences I have had at the University of Arizona have been invaluable to me. Up to this point I have met a great variety of people who have taught me a vast amount about tolerance, friendship, acceptance, and selflessness. The classes are challenging, forcing me to reach deep within myself in order to pull through and come out a better, more critically thinking person. The programs I am involved in have exposed me to many people who are successful in their fields and are willing to share their knowledge and experiences to help open my eyes and give me a foot up when I graduate. It has been valuable to attend the University of Arizona because I will be prepared for whatever employer are seeking and I will be capable of performing at the level they desire in graduates. Overall the experience in attending the University of Arizona has made me a better, more focused person. I anticipate the time I have left will continue to challenge me and enrich my life. My experiences and what I have learned at the University of Arizona will be with me for the rest of my life.

Friends, knowledge, and a lifetime of lessons that i will take with me everywhere I go. I was able to participate in a summer study program in Leipzig, made friends, practiced language, and was able to experience another culture. You know how people say, if there is one thing you could change in the past what would it be? Well there is nothing that I would change about my experience at the University of Arizona, in a big picture sense at least. Obviously I have my disgruntled complaints about certain classes and teachers but all in all everything that I have experienced at the university has help mold who I am now. Learning to be independent live on my own, filter out friends, and all the while experiencing an excellent education, that is what the University of Arizona is all about, in my opinion at least. These are the memories that I am going to hold onto for the rest of my life, memories that I will look back on , memories that I will laugh and cry about. But most importantly, these are the memories that are t foundation of my identity.

I have had the best few years of my life here at Arizona and have developed lifelong relationships with lots of friends. My relationship with my school is amazing and I love the fact that I can consider Arizona my home and my university. I am part of the best public school in the nation, and 3rd best overall just behind MIT and Cornel in the MIS department. I am on the leading edge when it comes to new technology and that means the world to me because of my love for technology as a whole. It is my field and my goal in life to be immersed in it for the remainder of my life. I would never in a million years take back the experiences I have had at the University of Arizona, and am proud to say that.

I'm excited to start a career and my life.

Previously my college experience had been very limited and dissapointing. I realized I had to drag myself to classes and to the mentality that I would do what I needed to do to pass the class without retaining any information. Recently this mindset has changed drastically. I find myself enjoying my college experience and value each piece of information passed onto me. I now find myself using this information in everyday situations and cannot believe how much more efficient I have been at completing assignments. So what have I gotten out of my college experience? I have gotten a much better understanding of communication skills, organizational skills, and behavioral skills which I treasure as everyday tools which I can use to succeed as a caring human being and businessperson.

My college experience has been exciting and I wouldn't change any part of it. I'm currently a Resident Assistant with Coronado Hall with the University of Arizona Residence Life, have a part time job at BJ's restaurant off campus, am double majoring in Journalism and Political Science and have just gotten my first internship, with the help of my Poly Sci advisor, with Community Justice Boards. I feel that the University of Arizona has boosted my confidence and helped me to realize that school is the only way to succeed. With all the challenges that are ahead, I fee like I will be prepared well when I finish school.
