I learned the value of time and that it is a precious gift. Yes everyone says college is the best time of your life, its when you find yourself and truly become the person you want to be, enjoy it because it will be over before you know it. Being the first person to attend a Universtiy in my family I had no idea what to expect, once I got here I was overwhelmed with what it takes to keep up with classes, clubs, socializing and most importantly family. I learned that everything I did had to be done to the best of my abilities the first time. As many college students soon find out, if there wasn't time to do it right to begin with then there probably would never be a time. It also taught me the value of attending college, I have not only gained educational knowledge but I have found out what it means to be an adult in all aspects of the word. An adult isn't someone who is 18-years-old its someone who knows the affect of their choices, learns who they are and begins living according to that.

Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to have received several awards for my artistic ability. My senior year of high school I painted a portrait of my grandpa in a hospital bed. That portrait alone won me 3 art awards (one of which I won Grand Prize in an art show sponsored by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords). I was able to attend college without having to take out a student loan. Now, I find myself dreaming of archeological digs in the middle of a desert, knee deep in sand, uncovering yet another ancient remain of a city long since forgotten. However, I lack in the resources needed to have a successful college career. My dreams have become in jeopardy. I may not be able to uncover cities in desolate areas around the world, but I am not one to settle. I will one day hold a dust covered brush in one hand and a broken piece of the past in another. This award will bring me one step closer to making this dream of mine a reality.

Tough question. What have I gotten out of my college experience? What haven't I gotten out of my college experience. I go to classes I love everyday, learning something that pertains to my major and interests me. I am currently in a sorority and now have 200 sister, one thing I couldn't say until I came to U of A. I have gained independence by living away from home and have learned how to better handle myself in situations. I have learned how to cooperate better by learning to live with someone else and everyone else in the dorms. There are so many great aspects about college life and the University of Arizona, that my list can go on and on. Although I value all of the above, the most important thing to me is how willing the University is work with it's students to assure their success. Because of this, I know I made the best possible choice for me by choosing the University of Arizona.

I have been attending college since october 2010, i have made many friends and am learning to try new thing. i have had a good college experience so far. i live in the dorm at my college and do sometimes get frustrated with students being disruptive while i am doing homework. I am a photography major and have learned a vast amount about photography since i have been attending college. i do not drink or party and since i have been here i have been invited to many party's and declined every single one because i think drinking is a bad influence on not just people but it reflects on their school work and daily life. i think attending college has been valuable to me,, not only am i learning academically but also learning about myself. i have learned how to make school my first priority and am thankful that i have had the chance to attend college and live on campus.

My college experience is something that I will always talk about for the rest of my life. From freshmen year to my senior year I have met so many different people, my first roommate, my first gay friend, my second family. How I met each one of them has a story on its own, I met one of my really good girl friends in this frat that i join my freshmen year. We joke about how we are sisters from another mother. Since I have a very outgoing personality, i had no problem meeting new people, however this was one of my biggest flaws. Academically, I started to fall into a rut because of my social butterfly behavior. Thankfully UA put me back on the right track with all their extra help! It has been valuable to attend because without these college experiences I wouldn't be this person I am now: strong, independent, social, active, challenging, responsible, organizied, student, who loves her school and will always bleed RED and BLUE.

Perhaps the most valuable experience of college is the people that I've met. To be more specific, the faculty and the professional contacts that I have made. Working with student advocacy groups and visiting professor office hours has been an unbelievably rich academic experience. Additionally, the personal friends that I have made are simply elightening. Often times, students become reliant on their surroundings in high school, and even jaded by them. However, college opens the door to meet people from everywhere with incredibly different backgrounds. Meeting people in college is the most valuable aspect of the college experience.

Attending a university allowed me to discover the identity of myself; once obscure but now self-evident. As my passions align across a wide spectrum of interests, I have discovered that becoming a secondary education teacher in the visual arts and English, is where I am meant to be and who I am. Over the years, teachers have impacted my life’s choices and altered my paths for the better as I have become wiser and more capable of articulating the importance of selfless acts as well as guiding those who are lost within themselves . The University of Arizona is filled with many students who have been enlightened, such as I, and we continue to work together to strive for intelligence and the well-being of our environment and community. My newfound passion and love in life is to guide the youth, the future of our country, on a bright and perspective path to success in the world in which we live. The University of Arizona has changed my perspectives as a student and allowed my evolution into a shrewd young adult and I promise to continue my open-mindedness as I walk the path to greatness.

So far, I have stepped into a path leading to a journey of wisdom. It is important to keep progressing since wisdom should always over top experience. Attending The University of Arizona is only opening the gate towards that path.
