There have been many things that I have gotten out of my college experience so far, including a more advanced education and new friends. However, I believe, so far, the most important thing I have learned is how to be responsible and live on my own. This is the first time I have lived on my own and I am learning how to be responsible in managing all aspects of my life. This is very different and new to me, yet I accept the responisbility with open arms, knowing that I must take this step to eventually take another. I have grown as a person and have learned more from living on campus and in the dorms than I have sitting in a 200 person lecture hall. Although the education I gain is very valuable and essential to my success, what I have learned outside the classroom at college has been equally, or more important.

I've been attending Ukrainian college for 4 years. Well, it was a waist of time. American college experience is the best. Every day I learn sooo much! Classes are fun and interactive. I can express my opinion without being mocked, and professors are open to any questions and comments. American professors are experienced, knowledgeable, and patient. Their lectures are supported by presentations, videos, discussions and group work. The classes are never boring!
I've been in American college for only two years, but I became more educated and wiser person. My world views have changed dramatically. I learn how to listen other poeple's opinions without critisism, how to understand different practices and values without judging, and how to be open to the new experiences. Back in Ukraine I maintained "A" and "B" , but learning was monotonous and unproductive. Here I love waking up every morming and going to college. I know there is a fruitful day ahead of me, full of new discoveries and fun!

I have been in college for 4-5 years now I graduated and transferred from a 2 year community college with my Associates degree in December 2010. This has been a process for me, after I graduated high school I was a major procrastinator, however since attending college I have learned how to organize a schedule, to stay on task, and not wait till the last minute. It is valuable to attend so that I can give my 3 year old daughter a better life. My dad always told me having a child doesn’t make things impossible it just means you have to work harder. I am determined and will work as hard I have to, to take care of my family.

I went back to school later in life and although I am older than most of the students here, I have realized that I have something to gain from a younger point of view. I have gained new knowledge, lifelong friends and colleagues. I know for a fact that the experience has kept me feeling younger. Its value to me is the reawakening of my thirst for knowledge and I am now committed to continue my education. I have applied for graduate school and hope to attain my PhD. This would have not been possible had it not been for my time here at the University of Arizona. As a veteran, the Vets Office for students was an invaluable resource for me and was instrumental in my decision to become more involved in volunteer activities, which has only served to enrich my life. I plan on setting up a similar program if I am accepted to the University of Montana Graduate School this fall to not only help veterans, but the surrounding communities

College has introduced me to a new way of thinking about ways of thinking. What I have learned is that if you want others to respect your ideas, you have to first respect theirs. Although this is a social rule most of us are taught in elementary school, it took the actual experience of being in an environment where such an idea is widely practiced for me to understand what a difference it can make. I value my college experience because now I finally understand that my opinions, even though they may be different from those of my parents, are not necessarily wrong. College has given me the opportunity to explore who I am and what makes me happy. As a result I am now more confident in my plans for the future than I ever have been, and it feels good.

The biggest thing I am currently learning at college is how to be independant. I am going to an out of state school that is about a 3 hour plane ride from my family. I have never been that far from my parents. In the beginning I had a bad roommate situation and I was ready to pack up and leave Arizona and go back to Washington. But after learning how to get a new roommate and figure out better living situations on my own, I feel I have grown up so much in my four months of being at this school. Another things I have learned is how to meet new people and put myself out there. I used to know all of the people I grew up with and they had been my friends. When I came to college I felt so alone and didn't know how to make friends. Forcing myself to talk to people has helped me become so much more of a confident person.

As a student at the University of Arizona, I have learned things in and out of the classroom that I will carry with me through life. I have learned much about business (my major) but I have learned more about life as a young adult. I have learned to grow as an individual, living in a dorm with a stranger my freshman year. I have learned to balance club, work, academic, and relationship obligations well. I have learned to overcome adversity--as the shooting in Tucson forced all of us too here at the U of A--and how to have hope for the future. I have learned that working towards your long term goals should be an every-day exercise, and I have learned that only hard work nets positive results. I hope that I will be considered for this scholarship because I strive every day that I am on campus to make my college a better place for other students to not only get an education but to live and grow in a positive way like I have.

My college experience has been valuable since I started school and I am positive what I learn attending the University of Arizona will be important towards my future . Since being here I have simply become more mature out of necessity. I have learned to be more organized and to be prepared for whatever I decide I want to accomplish. In addition to maturing I have learned to appreciate others despite their vast differences. I have become more accepting to new ideas as well as respect different cultures, and whatever traditions they may have. If I were not to attend the University of Arizona I believe that I would not be a well rounded individual and would not have been prepared for life outside of school. Thefore my college experience is the key to my success in my future endeavors.

The college experience has provided me with an incredible education, as well as life long friends and great memories. I transferred to the University of Arizona for the Fall semester of 2010, so I know how important it is to find a school that fits you perfectly. For me, the U of A is that place. The classes are the kind that aren't easy, but if you try, you'll learn a lot and do well. It has been so valuble to attend the U of A because the education is one of a kind, as is the city of tucson and the activities that take place here.

I both work and attend classes at the University of Arizona and have had a great experience with advisors and other faculty on campus. In addition, I have enjoyed a beautiful, large and diverse campus environment that makes me feel like I am a part of something greater than myself. The campus community is, overall, a very freindly and open group who value education, research and open mindedness. It's a spectacular environment with many opportunities and hope for the future.
