My college experience so far at the Univeristy of Central Florida has been amazing. The goal of the school is success so they make sure to push the students to the best that they can be. Attending the school has been enriching because I have learned the true meaning of hard work and I have met all types of people from different backgrounds because the school is quite large, also I have been to many fun events and have done all types of activities with our numerous clubs and recreation center. A major thing that I have learned since attending UCF was to not fall behind in my classes no matter how exhausted I was and to not give in to the temptations that many college students encounter. Instead I made sure to surround myself with good friends with as much drive as I do so while everyone else is out on Thursday nights, my friends and I are in having a game and study night. Determination, to me, is key and I make sure that nothing stands between my goal of success.

At the University of Central Florida it has taught me how to become not only a better student, but a better person. UCF is like a giant family to me, we may all come from different places but all come together on campus. It's diversity prepares you for the real world. I have learned all this within the three semesters I have attended UCF, I can only imagine what else I will get out of it.

My college experience to me is a preperation for the real world. You have instructors who are "bosses" and you have other students who are your "coworkers" in a sense. These people have taught me that learning is a social act. It requires thought, conversation and self-reflection. But mostly, the people who have helped me through college have given me support and help to know that college is what you make of it. I have learned that school is hard work, but can be mixed with campus activities and friends who make it a joy to continue learning. The knowledge i've gained not just in the class room, but on campus are so valuable to me. I have learned how to study, time management, how to get along with other people, but mostly I have learned that at the end of the day, I am the one who dictates my future, and now, I know that I am fully prepared for what the world has to throw at me.

I was never a good student in highschool and sadly I felt that the teachers in my highschool didn't have the drive to want to teach us. Only a few seemed to spark my attention and that was because they took a general interest in what I was doing and new that I could succeed if I put myheart into. Since attending college I have found many professors with this wonderful ability to engage their students and show their passion for what they are teaching. It has made me push myself so much harder and strive to do better even if I am struggling or the subject isn't something I found interesting. The teachers truely make the classroom and because of these instructors I have been pushing myself harder to achieve what I know I want and what I know I am capable of. Also I have found it difficult to get in touch with many advisors on campus when I work fulltime and I want to get back into education after finishing my degree and help those students who are like me. Those to who struggle daily with thier studies and balancing life outside of school.

I learned how to become responisble and learned how to manage my time wisely. I learned what the true value of a dollar is and that experience alone allowed me to go out, get two full time jobs and find my own place to live in. What I also learned was the value of school. One of my managers at my jobs has his BA in Science and yet he is a manager at a retail store. I knew then that I wanted to apply my degree to get ahead in life and better myself. I wanted to in turn become there boss because that is what education would do for me. Thanks for UCF I have grown as a person and it really made me realize what I want to do with my life and how I plan to make it happen.

I am attending Grayson County College in Denison, TX as a dual credit student. This experience has helped me a lot by how to study better. It also has helped learn how to work under a deadline. Grayson County College is a wonderful college to start out in.

Attending college has been the most awarding thing that I have ever done. I feel very good about myself and the goals that I have reached. It has taught me decipline and respect for my fellow classmates. It has taken me a long time because of having to support a home and raise my son at the same time. However, I would not trade this experience for anything. Teaching has always been apart of my life and stepping into this field of work is rewarding. This is the best way to give back to the community by becoming involve with the education of our children. Each child has a story and it is up to the teachers to help make it a successful one.

Before I attended the college I'm attending now, University of Central Florida, I attended a community college which later became a state college, Indian River State College. My experience their prepared me for the university I am attending now. I learned awesome study skills, note taking skills, and how to get myself more involved in campus activities. I've also learned how valuable community service is. My college experience taught me that note taking wasn't just copying the teachers notes directly from the powerpoint but also paying attention and being attentive in class. Learning note taking skills contributed to a great study habit which eventually lead to the 3.5 GPA I currently have. Being involved on campus was very valuable because I realized that staying updated on campus activities goes hand-in-hand with volunteer work and giving back to the community. College taught me not to be selfish with my time while at the same time keeping up with my grades.

If anything, my college experience has taught me that I don't know myself as well as I thought I did. I thought I would be going to school to learn about the subjects taught in class, but surprisingly, I have learned much about who I am. College has made me question everything I thought I knew, and has made me criticallly think about how the choices I make, become who I am. College has taught me to consider both points of view of a situation before jumping to any conclusions; to be open-minded to new ideas or concepts that I would have automatically rejected in the past; to learn about others before judging their character; and most of all, college has given me a thirst to learn: not only about my class materials, but about the world around me. Thinks like politics, world news, philosophy, etc, interest me now more than ever.

From attending University of Central Florida, I have gotten a network system that will continue even after graduation. The professors are great and really are experienced in the field in which they teach. I am getting my money's worth of information from this university. The most valuable thing about attending this university is the very large network system that comes with it. Times are getting hard, economically, and graduating students now have to compete for one job. University of Central Florida provides an enormous amount of clubs and organizations that helps students achieve the extra needed to set them above the rest of the fellow graduates in the world.

I have gotten a better understand of different subjects in college. I have become more responsible. I have to take care of myself and my dog now rather than my mom and stepfather taking care of me. I have become more independent, more active and more focused on my studies.

Throughout my educational career, I never felt as if going to school was worthwhile. Everyday I would go through the same routine that consisted of waking up, seeing the same people, going to classes, and feeling as if I learned a minimum amount. After I got accepted into the University of Central Florida, I was excited and hopeful that I would finally be able to learn in a different environment. After a few weeks of attending my new school, I was surprised about how much information I had absorbed without even realizing I was learning at all! I never felt so enthusiastic about going to school before! When my first semester of college ended, I had done wonderful in all of my classes. I also became active in campus activities, which made it easier than ever to find friends. On top of that, I lost a few pounds by eating healthier and going to the gym everyday, which ultimately gave me more energy for schoolwork. Being a student at UCF has been one of the best experiences of my life. If it weren’t for this educational experience I would have never become the improved person I am today!

Ashley

Before attending UCF I had an ideaof what I wanted to do in life but from the time I have started her up until now, I have learned to become a more effective, efficient, forceful, and outspoken student. This experience has encouraged me beyond wanting to fufill my wildest dreams of owning my own clinical practice. Attending UCF, has enlightened me to reality of what I call "LIFE". It was definately a reality check for me because I was NOT used to the class, and school size. Taking different classes within my major has contributed to my decision. Meeting new people has been exuberant at least in my classes that is. In efforts to get involved on campus, I have taken action to do so, but I strongly feel like the organizations are not what they stand for. I like to be sociable but I like my personal life seperate. It has been valuable to attend UCF because I have put in time and money into my education. I can't turn back now or I will lose everything that means the most to me, my education.

What have I gotten out of my college experience, I have received many memories. I have met people who will become life long friends. I'm learning alot and storing the information I've learned to be applied to the real world. It is valuable that I attend college because its helping me reach my goal. I'm living my dream and learning how to become a doctor in the future.

For me college has been where I can finally make a name for myself. As a child I was always the "other" Drazin. My sister, Danielle, was three years ahead of me in school and we usually ended up with the same teachers. No matter what class it was I always had something to live up to and I was usually falling short. Danielle was more outgoing with her teachers and created more of a relationship with them, so when it came to me, I would always receive the same question, "Why aren’t you more like your sister?" Although my college career is short lived, I have already been able to grow. Now when I meet someone it’s not, "Oh, aren’t you Dani's brother?" I can finally be the first Drazin in a campus and make a name for myself rather than having to live up to one.

Jessica

My college experience has been extremely valuable to me. My mother only attended college for a year when she was my age and then went back to school to get her Bachelor's Degree at age 40. Watching how difficult it was for her to complete college level coursework and raise two children and run a household has really inspired me to make to most of my college experience while I am young and have limited responsibilities and a supportive family. While in college I have greatly expanded my group of friends, and though programs I have particpated in I have learned to make the most of my talents, in particular leadership through the LEAD Scholars program and my Public Relations (which is my major) skill in the PR Club on campus, QUOTES. I am less afraid to try new things, as I was very timid in high school. I see so many success stories on my campus every day and with the positive momentum that is all around me, it is impossible not to enjoy the UCF experience.

Allison

I consider my education to be much more valuable than my college experience. With the economy being in such bad shape and the competition for jobs constantly increasing, it is important to get as much experience and education as you can get to make your self a serious competitor.

The best lesson I have learned in college was taught to me by first programming Professor, Lawrence Meyer, from Miami Dade College. He didn't just teach me programming. He taugh me something that i still carry with me and has helped me to learn more and more about programming on my own. His Philosophy is "The student must be taught how to learn and how to think.". That is the way he taugh. He never "spoon fed us" information, like other teachers do, which motivated me to learn on my own. Now, i know many other computer languages, because he taugh me to not depend on anyone to "spoon feed me" anything. Only 3 of 10 computer languages I know where taugh to me in school, for the other 7 i picked up books, learned the concepts, and practiced them. In conclusion, college has been valuable to attend because it has taugh me to be self-motivated, and self-sufficient, in every aspect of my life, professional and personal.

I come from a large family but I was home schooled in a small town throughout the majority of high school thus I had a small view of the world. Attending here at the University of Central Florida has allowed me to expand my grasp of life and of the world around me. I have been given the gracious opportunity to pursue an education and career that I love and because of this opportunity I have been able to define who I am and what my morals, thoughts, and ethics truly are. I also have gained an education which I believe is an aspect of American life that is undervalued. I am blessed to live in a country that has made education available (not cheap) and because of this education I have the opportunity a career that I look forward to pursuing.

My college expereince has helped to shape me into the wonderful young woman that I am becoming. I have learned more information than I could have ever imagined and I have been given more career opportunities then I would have ever expected. My professors have worked with me individually in order to help me to further grasp course material and to pursue future career endeavors. This university encourages students to strive to be their absolute best and create opportunities for ourselves. I strongly believe that I would not be in such a great position in life if I did not attend this college. I see great value in education and encourage anyone to receive an education or continue with one. Knowledge is power and the best way to success is to gain it with your intellegence. Attending college has also helped me figure out who I am as a person and guided me toward not only my true best friends, but my future bridesmaids.
