University of Dayton is my second choice due to the distance. It is the next closet college for me so I am able to drive. The Dayton college also has the classes that I am interested in.

The University of Dayton is an excellent school. They boast a community feel and they are correct in this assertion. I felt welcome on campus from the first time I visited, and now a year into my undergrad, I feel the same. The academics are also top-notch and challenging. The professors are accessible and willing to work with you. I knew we had a good basketball program but I was pleasantly surprised at how solid our sports teams are. They rank high in the A-10 conference on most teams. There are many activities organized and spontaneous on campus, and as many clubs as there are interests. It is home!

UD is a great example of a Marianist community. The only problem I have is that we need more diversity, there are not a lot of student Keith diverse background on this campus and the ones that are here. They don't really get a say or they can't contribute. I just wish that there could be a more diverse background at this Predominately White Institute.

The University of Dayton is expensive, yet I think the experience and classes are worth it. It is accredited for its academics, and there are lots of opportunities for research or internships around Dayton that are very beneficial. There is also an extracurricular for everyone and while it is a catholic college, it is not necessary to be catholic to attend. I've found faith groups to help all religions and denominations, and also many groups supporting those who aren't religious.

I love the University of Dayton. UD gives you the comfort and safety of a small school, with the resources and connections of a large one. With an intense focus on community, the staff, students, and even visitors always feel welcome and feel as though they are a part of something.

I love the University of Dayton! It has quickly become my home, my favorite place to be. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for good academics and a great community of people. Students always hold doors for each other, the dining hall staff are the adoptive family I never knew I needed, and good friends are easy to find.

Great college for students who want a good community and campus life. Everything happens on the campus and you meet a lot of people. The academics are good and you have many extracurricular opportunities. Students, faculty and staff are really helpful and friendly. Even though Dayton is not the most exciting city, I would choose University of Dayton again!

The University of Dayton has something for everything. We pride ourselves on our incredible academics, our successful basketball team, and our strong sense of community. The campus is lovely, the people are kind and generous, and the buildings are kept clean and nice. It is a really tight-knit community despite being a relatively large, private university. I love my school!

I really like this University. The people were nice, the atmosphere was great. I felt like I was at home. I feel like I have found a future place here at the university. I can not wait to join the school in the fall and start working towards my degree.

I think the University of Dayton is an amazing place. Not only are the students here ranked some of the happiest in the world, we also are ranked very highly on the academic scale as well. There is a community here that you cannot find on any other campus. The students are extremely friendly and always willing to wait and hold the door for you or offer to buy your lunch if you forgot your ID. Students here are friends with all classes and with all types of people. There are many clubs that are offered which allows you to make connections with those involved in the same interests as you. Furthermore, the professors at this University are some of the kindest and most understanding I have ever met. They truly care about your learning and want you to succeed in their classes. They offer multiple office hours in which you can come in and ask for help, and always are willing to schedule a meeting time with you if needed. They are very passionate about their teaching and truly care for the students well-being as well. There are many things to do both on campus and off of campus for students. The University provides multiple events on campus, such as Christmas on Campus, in which the students can participate. We are located very close to Downtown Dayton which has many shops, restaurants, and events that students can attend on the weekends. Overall, I think the University of Dayton is one of the best college campuses because of the community and academic opportunity they provide for their students and their families.

I absolutely love the University of Dayton and could not be happier with my decision to attend college there! The school provides me with all of the resources necessary to be successful academically. There are so many great professors and also tutoring services available to those who need them. The school is also a lot of fun. There is always something going on every night of the week whether it be on or off-campus. The University of Dayton is also full of great students and people that allow the college life to be enjoyable and beneficial at the same time.

It's a great school that is all about community. Everyone is very welcoming which makes it easy to make friends. You can expect to know at least a couple of people in each class and most professors will know you by name due to the smaller class sizes. You can email most professors if you can't go to their scheduled office hours and they'll set up an extra meeting time for you. Food is good compared to most schools and has a lot of choices. Housing is close to campus and very convenient for classes and campus life.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to help better the world around me. Although, I had hopes of attending OSU in the autumn of 2018, I was drawn to the University of Dayton due to the generous amount of financial help offered to me. Ultimately, after spending almost a full academic year at the University of Dayton, I have come to realize that my life decisions should not be driven by financial need, but by passion. The University of Dayton didn't feel like "home," even though I am a Dayton native. People were not the friendliest, professors were mediocre. In comparison to the University of Dayton, I feel as if OSU would provide a more motivating, supportive environment, pushing me to reach my full academic potential, and goals for helping others.
English never failed to be my most successful subject in areas including the ACT and CCP courses. My English teachers also found me to be a reliable student who thoroughly understood the material enough to assist them, and explain it to my classmates. My ability to excel in this subject led me to discover a career that I am passionate about and able to execute well. With this, I am confident in successfully preparing myself at The Ohio State University to be a future educator.
The Ohio State University, as previously presented, pairs well with my initiative in preparing to help others in my future career. I find my success in helping others, while others may find their biggest successes to be those that primarily benefit themselves. I aspire to add to the supportive, and motivating, environment I believe the university embodies.

I absolutely love the school. The best word to describe it is community which is a compliment and sincere appreciation of the neighborhood that is built on campus. Whenever people ask about my college I do not stop smiling in describing the amazing things UD offers.

I love the University of Dayton! UD was three hours away from home, but made me feel at home everyday that I was there. I recently graduated in December 2018, and being away from UD has been so hard for me. However, I am extremely grateful for the amazing friends that I have made, and the incredible professors that I have made connections with. Go flyers!!

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back to high school and give myself advice, knowing what I know about college, I would give myself the following advice: don't be afraid to get involved. It took me a semester before I started getting involved but it was the best thing I could have done. I'm now a proud brother in the co-ed service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. I've met some of me best friends through APO and it gives me something to look forward to every week. The other piece of advice I would give myself is not to get overly worried--about anything. I've figured out that getting worried just adds unnecessary stress and never helps the situation, whether it be in class or in relationships or in work. It helps to take a deep breath and relax, think through the situation and then make the decision.
Many students here are politically conservatives but everyone is friendly. Many of them want to party often and all of them want to talk and help you feel at home. I think every student here does not know anywhere else they would rather be. We Love Dayton.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
While there are not many bad things I can say about the University of Dayton, one thing that I am disappointed to see as a alumni is the increase in tuition costs. What makes UD special are the wide variety of students. With tutiton increases, the University is narrowing the student body to upper middle class and decreasing their efforts for an economic and socially diverse student population.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
My school is unique because we are built on a Marianist charisma. We pride ourselves on being welcoming and we stand on an emphasis of community. Small curteous actions are always practiced here such as holding doors open for everyone and saying "hi" to everyone you walk past. The staff is the most caring group of people I have ever met. They are like a second family. Whether its the cafeteria cashier or your Calculus teacher, everyone genuinely cares about everyone on campus and supports them in every endeavor. The University of Dayton can be described in one word: home.
It is best known for the friendly and welcoming environment that the student neighberhood portrays. Most students know they belong when they come to visit for the first time.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
The University of Dayton is a liberal arts school that stresses a diverse education for its students so that they can reach they can reach their full potential.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The public safety officers at the University of Dayton are extremely frustrating. While major crimes like rape, assault, and breaking and entering are taking place all over the student neighborhood our public "safety" officers are focused on breaking up house parties and giving freshman underage drinking tickets.
The University of Dayton is a great academic and social place to spend four years (or more.) They throw the word "community" around a lot, but it really is true. You will immediately notice how friendly the students and faculty are and that's what drew me to the school. It is the perfect size at about 8,000 undergrad. You get to know the people in your major pretty easily because you end up in a lot of the same classes. Most of the time is spent on campus or on Brown street where they have different restaurants. There is no shopping within walking distance whether it be for food or fun but there is a bus that goes to Walmart multiple times on Saturdays. The student neighborhood, or the "ghetto," is a point of pride with the students and it is a right of passage to live there your senior year. All sports are free to attend other than Basketball and there are plenty of activities organized by the university or just clubs and parties. You will never be bored.
The general class size is about 18-30 students with a few lectures going up past 100 people. The professors get to know your name and you well, especially if you go in to talk to them during their office hours. I am a Biology Major and have met more professors through Beta Beta Beta (the Biology honors fraternity) at socials even before I thought about taking their classes. The Bio department does have about 60 students per class and getting into classes can be a bit difficult because some of the upper class-men were not able to get into the classes they needed in order so the lower classes are being pushed back as well because the classes are full of Juniors and Seniors. The classes required can be a challenge, but ultimately it is to prepare you for the GRE or MCAT so that you have the best chance of success. There are a lot of general education classes required but they are a great break from the science I see all day otherwise. The university is very good at trying to prepare you for your career. They host a career fair once a semester and have resume work shops multiple times throughout the year.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
UD has almost 200 different undergraduate groups that students can join. These can range anywhere from the Bellydance/Hip-hop club to the sword fighting group. If you're interested in something, there's a club for that. And, if not, you and a few other friends can just start a new club! Service organizations have a big presence on campus. Most notably is Christmas on Campus, the largest one-day service event at a Catholic university in America. A large majority of students are involved in some kind of service - whether through a service club or a Greek organization. Academic and international associations also have a presence on campus. It's not unusual to have friends who are in three or four groups. While there are plenty of programmed activities on campus, such as CAB weekends or the Charity Concert, students seem to most enjoy just hanging out on front porches, dorm hallways, or (weather permitting) all the green space on campus. This is how the lasting friendships at UD are made. I lived with my random roommate from freshman year all four years at UD. All the girls I lived with for four years were girls I met on my dorm floor. This is sometimes common fro UD students.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
UD's "stereotype" is somewhat unique. Sure, as with all masses of people we have social "groups. What makes UD unique is our community. With the huge sense of community on campus, people dont have to worry about stereotypes because everyone just "fits". It doesnt matter if you play football, join a religion club, belong to the substance free club etc...Everyone is treated very fairly here. Yes, UD does have a reputation for being a "party school" but just because we have that reputation, doesnt mean you have to be apart of it, or be labeled for choosing something else instead of partying. Classes are very diverse, and many classes will have group work. Having this class structure helps to integrate people from all walks of life. This carries over into social life. In the student neighborhood, dorms (etc...) we pride ourselves on community living. There is so much integration with social programs at our school that it really knocks down stereotypes. You will have foreign kids hanging out with the promtpts "jocks, frat kids" etc... Having said that, i dont think its fair to say that we have any strong particular stereotypes because people here usually have friends from all backgrounds, and "stereotypes" become irrelevant.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
To a point it is true that UD is a party school and that we like to drink. Still, that is definitely not the only thing going on around here. Not everybody drinks and there are plenty of other things to do besides drink. We also really do care about academics. We all work very hard during the week and if we want to reward ourselves with a drink on a Friday or Saturday what is so wrong with that?
I did not know a great deal about Dayton before deciding to go but, I absolutely loved the campus. The beautiful campus had a huge part in my decision. There are no roads between the buildings and everything is within reasonable distance. From the buildings to the trees,I loved everything about the way it looked. Something just felt right about it!
