I believe that USI has a great variety of clubs, programs, sports, recreational activities, and overall wonderful resources that help take some of the stress out of college. I personally am a commuter student, but I live within 10 minutes of the university and it is fairly easy to get what you need since Evansville is a fairly large city.

I think it a really good institution and is a great college to go to. The campus is very pretty and new. I've herd good things about many of the professors that teach there and the sports at USI are very competitive. The food I tried was very tasty and pretty affordable compared to some fast-food places near my area. All and all it is a great campus and amazing school.

The University of Southern Indiana is a perfect campus for students seeking a closer relationship with their professors. The campus boasts beautiful trails and scenery. USI also offers facilities that allow students to take full advantage of their academic advancement.

My opinion of the University of Southern Indiana is that it's not the biggest campus, but that's what makes it great! Everything is a very walkable distance, and the scenery is beautiful. Everyone that I've encountered there is so nice, and very welcoming.
Ella
The University of Southern Indiana has a great campus and is filled with learning opportunities, great professors and overall great people to be around. There are so many amazing opportunities, clubs, and recreations. There is something for everyone here, you won't be disappointed!

I loved my time at USI! There is always something to be involved in, everyone is so caring. Classroom sizes are almost always small, so you are able to get the one-on-one connection with you professors. It is a wonderful place to network and grow. I highly recommend University of Southern Indiana.

I think that it is a busy but smaller university in a more rural setting. There is plenty to do outside of class, including intramural sports that go on all during the school year, activities such as crafting and painting, Greek life, over 100 organizations, and there is always a fair for something! In addition, the city of Evansville has so much to do! I have not lived in the on campus apartments, but I've been to friends' apartments, and they seem to be very nice. As for the food, we have several restaurants, in addition to the dining hall. We have a Chick-fil-A, a burger place, Chinese food, Red Mango, a restaurant similar to Subway, and a Starbucks, among others. I also love the campus itself. It is beautiful, with several lakes with fountains, a walking trail that goes from campus to a local park, and landscaping that is constantly being upkept. There has also been a lot of new construction in the last several years, so there is a new olympic size swimming pool, a visitors centor, a new theater, and a new building for the exercise science/kinesiology department. I also like that the campus is close to town, but not in town, so it seems very peaceful.
Abby
I personally love USI. I do wish the students were a bit more involved, but it's a campus that many students commute to so not many remain after school hours to attend events. It's what I personally need in terms of class size and offerings, so I'm a huge fan, but I can understand if students looking for a more engaging campus in terms of activities and activism may go to other schools.
Emily
The class sizes in my program (exercise science) were perfect. The campus culture is very diverse and you can make friends with anyone easily. Basketball is the main school sport. There is a lot of school spirit on campus. It is also very much a commuter school, though many students are from all over the state and some from elsewhere as well. The campus is kinda far from anything in town so you'd need a car, know someone with a car, or take public transit to get anywhere in town. The campus is small and homey.
Anika
It's very nice here. The teachers are all nice. The campus is gorgeous. It's a place that is relaxed and open.
I'm an English Literature major getting a double minor in Marketing and Gender Studies. I've had classes in every building on campus. Other than the Potts College it's really easy to navigate. The Potts College is easy once get used to it, but it is difficult at the beginning.
I've mostly had English, Marketing, and Psychology professors, but I've never had a prof that I haven't liked yet.

I love USI. The environment is so positive. Don't going to lie, I've had some interesting experiences on campus but always love returning back to campus. I remember my first day. I was terrified because I didn't know anyone, but I've never gotten so many smiles and happy faces walking across campus. I felt so at home. Go Screagles!
Jake
While not many people live on campus at USI, it is full of friendly faces who mostly commute from the nearby city of Evansville. I can almost guarantee that I will recognize someone when I am randomly walking around campus. In one year of commuting to USI to take dual-credit classes for high school, I have met lots of people. It is hard to find people who are not friendly at USI. The staff and professors all care about your academic endeavors and how you grow as a student. Overall, the University of Southern Indiana is a very comfortable and friendly school that anyone should consider if you enjoy a relationship with the students and professors.

I adore USI. It’s a positive environment and I’ve always felt welcome and there’s always something to do and there’s so many clubs and groups that’s it’s impossible not to make friends!! Everyone’s so friendly and it’s a great place to go to school.
Bryce
My overall opinion of the University of Southern Indiana is absolutely amazing. I love my university with everything in me, and I absolutely love my campus. We have a beautiful campus, and it honestly feels like a community. It is not a small campus by any means, but I know so many people and I constantly feel at home here. The professors are all willing to help students achieve their goals and the food on campus is great. I am proud to be a Screagle.
Shelly
A 250 lb. female student that looks like an alien could pop out of her abdomen at any second catches fries another student is throwing into her mouth. A woman lays asleep in a hammock outdoors while a cat licks barbecue sauce off her face. Is it the apocalypse? No. Is it hell? No.... It's the University of Southern Indiana.
I love the fact that USI has only a 38% graduation rate and yet people keep paying them money even though they do not seem to intend to graduate. 38% is a lower graduation rate than most high schools in the United States. Really, does 38% sound like a well ran college?
I love the fact that I can walk the campus of the University of Southern Indiana and see wildlife such as a feral raccoon or cat that would bite my finger off if I stuck it near the trash can it is eating out of. I love the fact that it is a short walk to any number of high fat fast food restaurants and high calorie sugary coffee shops on campus to drain even more cash from those students too lazy to make their own food. Some of the students are in the 250 pound range or higher, and I applaud that USI is one of the few colleges in the United States that requires students pass a gym class to make certain that they survive to the end of their degree.
A real gold mine, I love the fact that these kids keep paying out ridiculous amounts of fees and money when we never teach them much that they can use to obtain work. I love the fact that soon I will have bought my first Bentley from my work at the University of Southern Indiana. I love the fact that some of the students are able to find work as exotic dancers at night in Evansville, Indiana so they can afford to pay all the additional fees we charge for attendance.
A gold mine for administrators, I love that you will see more fees added to your bill than almost anywhere else you could otherwise attend in Indiana. They have a services fee, counseling fee, $130 parking fee, $100 activity fee, extra fees for online courses, extra fees for graduate school courses....
I love that the University of Southern Indiana appears to be a business model which siphons money from students in order to fund salaries. Only a percentage of their students are employed in their field of study unless the 38% that graduate continue onward with more education. US News currently ranks the University of Southern Indiana as "Below #126" in Midwestern Regional Colleges for 2018, the lowest ranking possible. However.... USI does have respectable Undergraduate Health Care programs, Business School, Civil Engineering School and Radio Station and for that I give them 2 1/2 stars for being half of a college.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of Southern Indiana is 91%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
college life is an essential part of life.....................
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The University of Southern Indiana is not one of the most popular schools so therefore people think that its very easy to get into. I brag mostly about the nursing program being ranked number three in the state. I also brag about the fact that we have a beautiful campus and lovely rooms.
Its a smaller/newer school but it is growing. The University of Evansville is also in Evansville so it is a semi-college town, but both are small schools so it doesn't have that "college town" feel to it. Everything is very spread out.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
As for me, I like International Club that they have in my school, because we can meet all students from around the world. Also, they have spring fest which is fill with all fun kinds of activities. and there are also many other activities that you can enjoy of if you can give your time.
From my point of view, the academic system in University of Southern Indiana is great, because the teachers and professors are directly interact with the students. They have writing center and free tuition center for those who didn't catch up the lessons. Also, for international students, there are people at the writing center who can help you improve with your academic writing.
What is the stereotype of students at your school?
It is a common stereotype that USI is referred to as "West Side High" due to the fact that it is a smaller school and some people from Evansville decide to go to USI.
It is also a common stereotype that students go to USI because it is the only school they could get into.
It is a stereotype that there is nothing to do and also that people there "do not know how to party."
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
Since, its been only a semester, I do not really know about what kind of stereotype are in my school. I will try to focus and learn what is the stereotype of students at my school.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
USI is a newer school. It has only been around since the 60's. It doesn't have the historic feel that some may, but it has to start somewhere. The classes are more one on one which is very comfortable. I feel that the experience is what you make of it. People are very welcoming and there are many clubs and organizations to make you feel welcome. It is a large commuter campus, but they are working to reduce that. There are new buildings being built everyday and I cannot wait to see what USI is like 10, 20, 30, and 40 years from now!! I would highly recommend this school if you want to feel accepted and if you want to feel that your professors genuwinely care about you. I transferred from a big school and so I know the difference.
