Overall, I enjoy Indiana State University. I believe that it is not for everyone, as there is constant change happening. The small campus feels like a home to me and I enjoy that my campus only takes 10-15 minutes to walk from corner to corner. Most of the staff are friendly and I feel that I can approach any of the faculty within my major-specific classes. I am proud to be a Sycamore!

I really like it and I cannot wait to start their next school year. I have done numerous college searches for my uncommon but common major and I fell in love with the campus, the location , and just the school in general. I know a few students who go to the school and they speak very highly of it. I truly cant wait.

I love the culture that I experience at Indiana State. While there are issues, as there is with everything in the world, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I can't imagine myself at any other school. Indiana State is the place for me. The friendships and connections that I have made have changed my life for the better.
Yahirca - 02/13/2024
There are a lot of opportunities for everyone here to be involved in something. Most of the time when you don't know what to get involved in theres people around to help you get involved and not just be in your room all day. There is also many resources if needed for academic purposes.

I think it’s a great school, with a lot of opportunities. The class size is really good, and I always feel safe on campus. There are a variety of clubs and activities to be involved in. The campus housing is pretty nice as well. The professors are usually pretty good at communication and most of them seem to care about our education.

Indiana State University Is gorgeous a campus! The dorms are very nice, clean, and new. This campus is one you'll never forget you visited. It seems to be an average size which is a good size for comfort in classes. I feel so confident about study my major here the staff was so nice and friendly.

I think that Indiana State is a great opportunity for students with a lower availability to financial aid. I believe that ISU is fairly priced for the quality of education you will receive. Even if you don’t think you have enough financial aid to start there are always more opportunity’s to get more on campus.
Keilan - 05/15/2020
I feel like Indiana State University is a good school for more students to attend to. It is big University where more people can communicate and get to know new people and the school also has tutoring if a person ever tries to seek for help. There is a lot of things that a student can be involved in around campus, such as joining activities, sports, and other events.

I love my school. I wouldn't be furthering my education if I didn't like it where I am at. I bleed blue for sure. They are a very supportive school that does everything that they can to help you to reach your dreams. Indiana State University is everything that you could possibly be looking for in a university!
Trevor - 01/06/2020
It’s a great university I can’t wait to attend it next year
Amanda - 12/24/2019
I love being a student. It's a great place to learn and meet new and interesting people. They have a great variety of things to do for different types of people. The professors are there to help you and do not put you down for not understanding the material. The outside school life is great.
Nkayla - 11/20/2019
Overall Indiana State University is a school that has a lot of resources and pushes you to do your best. Everyone on campus is nice and very helpful. If you want to succeed and be able to get a top education with a small class size Indiana State University is the place to be.
Alison - 11/08/2019
Overall, I like this school. I have only had some issues with a few departments on campus, but other than that I have had a good experience. This school is definitely better in some areas and programs than others. I recommend that anyone looking into Indiana State does a good amount of research on the program they are interested in.
An'Jana - 08/15/2019
My overall opinion of Indiana State University would be that it gives you a homey feeling. The communication of the campus could be better . I haven’t started my journey fully into college yet , so I can not speak on anymore of my opinion of the school.
Kaylee - 07/31/2019
I enjoyed attending there until they raised the tuition prices because less students are attending which puts those of us who can't afford college into an even deeper hole. I also would like more of a food selection in the dining halls because there's not much to it.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Indiana State University is 85%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would tell myself in order to achieve your goal to be an engineer work hard and study. I would also tell myself that you would have a lot of time in the future to chase girls but right now focus your time in the books. In addition, to my conversation with myself I would say, save all the money you make as well as apply to many different scholarships as you can because you are going to need the money. The books in college are expensive.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Its not what Ive expected. When I first got here I thought I was somebody special, people made me feel at home, and my classes were good. But when I really needed financial help the people who were helping me made mistakes that lost me 2 scholarships and a grant. And when I tried to fight for them I was fighting for them alone. After fighting for 2 months, I was finally able to get help from this school. All I needed was one phone call but it took 1 month for them to make it.
The kind of person that should attend ISU should like to drink and party because that's all there really is to do here. The school is right next to Wabash Ave., which is home to the WALK a homecoming event that involves binge drinking starting at 4 am going from bar to bar.
I like that it is a smaller school. I can get to anywhere on campus walking in 10 minutes or less. Also the professors are easy to get along with and interact with the students. Indiana State University is also ranked for our community engagement.
Indiana State University is best known for the large about of volunteer hours annually completed by students. It is also known for wonderful professors that know each and every one of their students by first name.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish that I knew how much living on campus affects the college experience. Since I have been a resident of Terre Haute all of my life, I decided during my Senior year of high school to live at home. I've realized this year that I missed out on a lot of things by being a commuter students, especially being able to spend time with other students. Sharing life with other college-aged people is exciting and opens the door for opportunities and sharing. I wish that I had known this prior to freshmen year.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
This school has its professor's and falculty ready for class and they engage on each others learning. Every class that I've taken at ISU is based on my degree and sometimes is based on my minor as well.
My overall opinion of Indiana State University is very pleasant. I truly enjoy every little thing about this university. The university has plenty of people to get to know, but not too many where you don't know where to start looking to meet new people/friends. There is a lot of school pride displayed every day and every sport event. There is also very good greek life on and near campus. Many students believe that being part of that is one of the best decisions they have ever made.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
Honestly, we probably have at least one of every "stereotype" you could come up with. ISU is the most diverse public college in the state of Indiana! Fortunately I've never heard a specific one except "hautians," which just means that you live in the city of Terre Haute. Sometimes that term is accompanied by a negative connotation.
The class sizes vary, however, majority of class sizes are usually no more than 35 students. The professors get to know, not only your name, but they know about you personally and enjoy knowing about you. Majority of classes include very active participation (not just lectures). My major is Information Technology and when I graduate the university will have already helped me getting a job right as I finish school.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
92% of students attending Indiana State University receive some sort of financial aid.
53% were awarded federal grants.66%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
