Madysan - 11/28/2024

Overall, I enjoy Indiana State University. I believe that it is not for everyone, as there is constant change happening. The small campus feels like a home to me and I enjoy that my campus only takes 10-15 minutes to walk from corner to corner. Most of the staff are friendly and I feel that I can approach any of the faculty within my major-specific classes. I am proud to be a Sycamore!

Harmony - 10/24/2024

I really like it and I cannot wait to start their next school year. I have done numerous college searches for my uncommon but common major and I fell in love with the campus, the location , and just the school in general. I know a few students who go to the school and they speak very highly of it. I truly cant wait.

Avery - 07/15/2024

I love the culture that I experience at Indiana State. While there are issues, as there is with everything in the world, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I can't imagine myself at any other school. Indiana State is the place for me. The friendships and connections that I have made have changed my life for the better.

Yahirca - 02/13/2024

There are a lot of opportunities for everyone here to be involved in something. Most of the time when you don't know what to get involved in theres people around to help you get involved and not just be in your room all day. There is also many resources if needed for academic purposes.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would tell myself in order to achieve your goal to be an engineer work hard and study. I would also tell myself that you would have a lot of time in the future to chase girls but right now focus your time in the books. In addition, to my conversation with myself I would say, save all the money you make as well as apply to many different scholarships as you can because you are going to need the money. The books in college are expensive.

  6. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Its not what Ive expected. When I first got here I thought I was somebody special, people made me feel at home, and my classes were good. But when I really needed financial help the people who were helping me made mistakes that lost me 2 scholarships and a grant. And when I tried to fight for them I was fighting for them alone. After fighting for 2 months, I was finally able to get help from this school. All I needed was one phone call but it took 1 month for them to make it.

  11. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish that I knew how much living on campus affects the college experience. Since I have been a resident of Terre Haute all of my life, I decided during my Senior year of high school to live at home. I've realized this year that I missed out on a lot of things by being a commuter students, especially being able to spend time with other students. Sharing life with other college-aged people is exciting and opens the door for opportunities and sharing. I wish that I had known this prior to freshmen year.

  14. What is your overall opinion of this school?

My overall opinion of Indiana State University is very pleasant. I truly enjoy every little thing about this university. The university has plenty of people to get to know, but not too many where you don't know where to start looking to meet new people/friends. There is a lot of school pride displayed every day and every sport event. There is also very good greek life on and near campus. Many students believe that being part of that is one of the best decisions they have ever made.

  16. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

Honestly, we probably have at least one of every "stereotype" you could come up with. ISU is the most diverse public college in the state of Indiana! Fortunately I've never heard a specific one except "hautians," which just means that you live in the city of Terre Haute. Sometimes that term is accompanied by a negative connotation.

  17. What are the academics like at your school?

The class sizes vary, however, majority of class sizes are usually no more than 35 students. The professors get to know, not only your name, but they know about you personally and enjoy knowing about you. Majority of classes include very active participation (not just lectures). My major is Information Technology and when I graduate the university will have already helped me getting a job right as I finish school.
