Ivy Tech provides exactly what I need. I recommend them to anyone who can commute to their location. I got in as a duel enrollment student during my 10th grade year. They were able to easily shift to virtual classes during COVID so that I could continue my classes. Now the campuses are open and life is good. I’m looking at graduating next year. :)

Makayla - 07/17/2024

My opinion of Ivy Tech is that it's a very nice facility and everyone was kind and helpful during my time there. I will say that there were not a lot of social events or classmates meeting up outside of class. It was very much a come in, do your assignments, and go home. I personally build zero connections there, which I will admit was partially my fault because I was very shy. But in my classes, it seemed that no one really related to anyone else in the class. We were all in our own little worlds, focusing on grades and assignments. Would I recommend Ivy Tech Community College? Yes, especially to someone who's just entering the world of higher education. I would also recommend that they make connections and build friendships.

Ivy Tech is a school that works incredibly well with those who need flexibility when creating a schedule. I was able to go into night classes as a full time student and was still greeted with amazing quality and attention. The classes are smaller when taking night classes, but the professors are just as dedicated and eager as if they were working with a typical day class. Additionally, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Any staffmember I came across was more than willing to answer questions or help in any way they could. The school is overall a good choice for someone who is looking for an easy-access, equal opportunity, and affordable education.

Grace - 03/09/2022

I think that it is a good school. It is important to keep in mind that most of the classes are online. So, there is not much of an "on campus life." But, my professors have all been nice and I think my education here so far has been pretty good. If you want to save money for your first two years of college or want an associate's degree, I recommend Ivy Tech

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time and talk to myself in high school, I think i would tell myself to create a habit of not procrastinating. I have a bad habit of waiting until the last minute to do something, and when it takes a lot of time to complete i get really bored. This causes me to do things poorly. So, i would tell myself to get on top of things early and keep it that way.

  4. What's unique about your campus?

My school is a great school to attend if you are a working student or a parent. They offer many classes in every field during different times throughout the day and week. This way the students don't feel limited and won't miss out on the classes they would like to take. They just started midnight madness classes this semester to accomodate for those people who are busy throughout the day. Some do not like to take online courses and would rather be taught in person. That's why these midnight classes are beneficial.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Parking. There are never enough parking spaces, and people have been known to be late to class because they had to search and/or wait for an available space. The campus is in a somewhat remote location, so there isn't any other nearby available parking.

  14. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The thing that is frustrating is that they eliminated all student services at the Lawrence campus on Saturday. Having the financial aid, bursar, and academic advising available at the Lawrence campus really helped students that work during the weekdays. If I need to do something adminstratively, I will have to go the North Meridian Campus, which is very hard to do because of traffic.
