What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Looking back at my first year of college, one of the first things I would tell myself as a high school senior is to purchace your textbooks (at least the expensive ones), from somewhere other than the bookstore on campus. They really pump the money out of you and I could have easily saved over $1000 on books alone. I also would have told myself to not get a seven day meal plan and only stick with the five day one. I always went home on the weekends and I never used my meal plan on those days so I could have saved some more money there. On the academic side of things I would advise myself in high school to study extra hard and try and score good on the ACT. I was one point away on my ACT from getting a free ride from the University so I definately would advise that. Besides those few things the biggest things I would have told myself would have been to relax during that first year and have fun, because college only comes once so you should live it up and explore, and find ways to meet new people.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a large 4-year College. The campus is fair-sized and one can get to one side to the other in about 15-20 minutes. The classes are great and so are the students.

What's unique about your campus?
Everything is easily reachable by foot, and if it is not, the school bus will take you where you need to go. You are given a bus pass at the begining of the year so no matter where you want to go, it wont cost you any money to get there. The people here are also very kind, it must be a midwest thing, but I have found the most friendly and approachable people so its very easy to fit in at a school like this.

Tell us about the sports scene on campus.
The sports scene at UNL is crazy especially for the football team. Tickets for the games go on sale in March the year before and if you don'tget on right away than you are stuck not going to a game or you have to buy one from another student who can't go, usually for a higher price tha the face value. Downtown Lincoln and the UNL campus are crazy with all the fans that come to support the Huskers. Nebraska Cornhusker football has sold out all of its home games since before 1968 and there is no end in sight.

Why did you decide to go to this school?
I had always dreamed about going to this school bu I doubted at first that I could get in which is why I chose to go to a school in South Dakota. My family moved down to Nebraska a few months before I started college and so I was left all alone in South Dakota. After a year of being up there I decided to give it a shot and to see if I could get into UNL. I had decided that if I got accepted I would transfer and if not I would stay at SDSU. I got accepted and started my sophomore year at UNL.
