What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
My college experience so far as been life changing. I've met so many diverse people in one place that I am never bored because I am constantly learning about different cultures. It has been a valuable experience for my life because now I can share what I learn everyday with others. It is extremely important to broaden your horizons in life and that is my goal I hope to reach fully in my four years attending.

There is a large aspect of partying on campus, but that doesn't make the students all drunks. The students are also not rednecks.

What are the academics like at your school?
Because UTK is such a large campus, many of the classes have hundreds of students in them. It makes it much more difficult to have a one-on-one relationship with professors because they have to focus on so many students. Most times, teachers don't know my name. But I also feel that one's performance in a class says enough about who they are. My major is Psychology, and I am very pleased with the department. There is a wide range of available classes, and the professors seem very concerned with their students' progressions through the major. I am also taking prerequisite classes for physical therapy school and have found that science classes on this campus tend to have less focus on students as individuals.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular programs on campus are definitely UT football and basketball. Greek life on campus has a lot of involvement, but the statement has been made that the administration on campus does not want Greek life involved on our campus. I am involved in the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha, and I honestly feel as though nothing negative has come from my participation in it. My closest friends are in my sorority. Many people accuse sorority and fraternity members as "paying for their friends," but I believe that I have made true bonds with the girls in my sorority. If it weren't for ZTA, I would not have a tenth of the friends that I have made here.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The Career Center is not as useful as most students would like it to be. It organizes career fairs and hosts workshops once or twice per semester which usually happen during hours when most students take their classes. Getting help with cover letters and resumes is worthless due to a limited knowledge of the staff. Inquring about internships and jobs was a waste of time to me because the staff told me to do my own research on the Internet.

What kind of person should attend this school?
The University of Tennessee is a great school for Tennessee residents. It is a terrific bargain; great university, with lots of financial assistance available for in-state students. I am from out-of-state, so I don't qualify for those benefits. However, The University fof Tennessee is a good fit for me because it offers outstanding academic programs, complimented by a plethera of opportunities for students to become involved in social, service, and professional activities. UT has all of the advantages of a major university while maintaining the small college intimacy.

Tell us about the sports scene on campus.
The sports are MASSIVE. Neyland Stadium on a gameday is one of the best experiences of my life. There are good basketball teams, a consistently nationally ranked Lady Vols Basketball team, an awesome Volleyball team, and one of the best swim teams in the nation. The school just built a new baseball field, and it is in pristine condition. Overall, all of the students here seem to bleed orange.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
The stereotypes are essentially that the student body is filled with extremely Christian, dumb rednecks who drink every night and go start fights at the football games.
While there are people like that, a large portion of the student body is driven to do well in school and don't necessarily go out every night of the week. Because it is such a large school, there are many varying types of people, ranging from African immigrants to European exchange students to your typical country boy.

What are your classes like?
My classes are generally interesting. Normally, if the class is large then the teacher is unable to personalize the information, and it becomes less interesting. However, when there are smaller classes, things tend to be easier to get involved in class.
