Belmont was one of my favorite college tours. The old fashion Southern architecture is magnificent and the emphasis on religion was very important for me. I really loved how they require students to take a religion class, that truly speaks to how the school was built and what it stands for. If you are someone who loves music and art, Nashville is the place to be and definitely a great starting point for your career. Belmont has a great network in Nashville and a lot of different opportunities.

Belmont University is more than just a school; it's a launching pad for dreams. From the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew I had found my home away from home. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with the incredible faculty and supportive community, made me feel like I belonged.
One of the things I love most about Belmont is the emphasis on experiential learning. The opportunities to get involved in internships, research projects, and extracurricular activities are endless. I've had the chance to study abroad, work on a variety of community service projects, and even start my own club. These experiences have helped me develop essential skills and gain valuable real-world experience.
The professors at Belmont are truly exceptional. They are not only knowledgeable in their fields but also passionate about teaching and mentoring their students. They have gone above and beyond to support me, both academically and personally. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from such amazing educators.
Belmont's beautiful campus is another reason why I love it so much. The architecture is stunning, and the grounds are always well-maintained. There's a great sense of community on campus, and everyone is always friendly and welcoming.
If you're looking for a university that will challenge you, support you, and help you reach your full potential, I highly recommend Belmont. It's a place where dreams take flight, and where you'll make lifelong friends and memories.

Belmont has been an amazing experience for me. The Christ-centered music community has helped me to grow a lot within my first year.

If you are a Theology major or a music major of any sort, the school is absolutely perfect for you, but sometimes the other majors get pushed to the side or neglected. We get fewer and fewer classes each semester, unless you have a department head who is willing to fight for more classes like the one for legal studies is, and the music majors will constantly have more classes or there will constantly be more religion classes. I know this sounds like a huge complaint section, but I tend to see reviews of everyone refusing to say the negative, so I figured I would start with the things I personally did not like. All in all, it could definitely be worse.

I believe Belmont University to have a very beautiful campus and academic life, but I have seen that the class sizes aren't very big and they don't have as many clubs as other colleges may. They are a very artistic and musically inclined school which makes them very unique, and in the heart of Nashville providing many opportunities to up and coming musicians. Though their majors outside of healthcare and music-related are fairly scarce; they don't have an Engineering program which was my biggest turn away when deciding which college to attend. If they did, it would definitely be higher on my list of potential schools.

For a Christian school, they scram liberal and do their best to pour propaganda and socialistic bullshit down your throat.

It’s hard for me to get a full gauge just yet due to the pandemic wiping out a lot of usual first year college experiences. Our school has been very thorough, however, in making sure all students are being safe and cautious, and still getting a close knit learning environment that the school promises. Soon enough we’ll be able to resume normal college life, and the way things are going now, I’m really optimistic that the environment will be even that much better and more fun once the pandemic dies down.

I was a little hesitant to be at Belmont at first, since it is religious-oriented and known for its music faculty. In my very first Belmont class, I was blown away by how diverse the student groups are and how inclusive the faculty members are. I am very thankful for the interaction possibilities between music and non-music majors. Belmont has an awesome science program that will definitely prepare you for higher education and life beyond your degree.

I love Belmont. As soon as I stepped foot on their campus I knew it was where I wanted to go. The community is amazing, the professors are some of the best in the industry, and there's always something to do. Belmont is located in Nashville, TN as well which is a big plus since I am a Music Business major.

Belmont University is a private school in Nashville, Tennessee. There is much emphasis on the performing arts and entertainment industry but there are many majors and minors to choose from. The campus is beautiful and always well kept, and the faculty and staff are some of the best I have experienced. There is little diversity amongst campus but many students have been creating clubs and advocating for change by reaching out to the public and making the school and its issue known. Though financial aid is not great, the issue has come to light and changes are trying to be made. I love the campus and there are many restaurants and outings for any time of the day and any day of the week. Basketball is the main sport of the school and the games and festivities are always a blast. Overall, Belmont is an amazing school that offers unique opportunities for its students. Belmont is very well known especially in the entertainment industry and students go on to do amazing things.

I really enjoyed touring the school. Every person there was just smiling and welcoming me when I was taking a tour there. I enjoyed it a lot, the campus is very tidy and beautiful. Everything there was just overall very pleasent and enjoyable. I can't wait to start school at Belmont.

I'm a freshman technically in the middle of my first year here, but with coronavirus it's basically over so I thought I might write a review to help out those who are deciding on a college like I was a year ago. Niche limits your number of characters so I thought I'd come here to write a more detailed review. To sum my experience up, I have very mixed feelings about this school. Here's a list of the major cons I have;
1. At the time being, it seems like Belmont is focused purely on growth, at the expense of the students. To put it more bluntly; the administration here really sucks. There were numerous controversies involving administrative decisions and our president, who happens to be one of the highest paid university presidents, just this semester. Belmont is very overcrowded with incoming students at the time being. All of the classes fill up right away and I had great trouble getting into any of the classes I needed, which were pretty much all incredibly basic gen ed classes. I essentially had to take a BS semester to get more credits and I feel like I wasted my money a bit. Also, if you are a music person like me, it is next to impossible to find a practice space for a band. This surprised me considering how big of a "music school" Belmont is. There is a program to sign up for a practice space time but they fill up very quickly and it's impossible to get a space unless you're willing to wait a few months. On top of that, if you try to practice in your dorm you will get shut down in minutes. Me and many other people had to resort to 'illegally' practicing in the parking garage because there is nowhere else to go. This was a bummer as someone who choose Belmont hoping to pursue music projects.
2. There are a lot of strictly enforced questionable policies. As you probably know, Belmont is a "dry" campus and they strictly enforce their drug policy, but on top of that they are incredibly strict about having members of the opposite sex inside of your dorm. The school is VERY conservative in it's views, we even have a no sex policy and you can technically get in trouble for even having a condom in your room. I sometimes feel like I'm treated like a kid at a summer camp instead of an adult gaining independence, and most of the students feel very strongly apposed to these policies as well. I know many students who got screwed over for drinking/pot possession. I really wish the school would take a harm reduction route instead of trying to prevent things that are inevitable with most college students.
3. There is very little party scene here. Me and my friends end up trapped hanging out in a dorm on campus many weekends because we can't find parties anywhere. There are house shows some weekends which are pretty fun but that's really the extent of the partying. There are plenty of music shows in Nashville but tickets get expensive if you're doing that every weekend, and many music venues in Nashville are 21+. I'm not the biggest partier so it's not a deal breaker for me, but it's important to note.
4. The "convo" system is pointless and incredibly broken. If you don't know what this is, we essentially have to attend a number of hours at Belmont events under different categories to graduate. They switched the already confusing system and now I honestly have no idea how it works anymore. I wish they'd just get rid of it because it only seems to screw people over.
5. You won't get any significant scholarships or financial aid from this school. I know very few people that received more than a few thousand dollars.
6. The campus is kind of far from grocery stores and cool stuff in the city, so its really helpful to have a car or friends lenient with giving rides.
Now I may have painted this school a very poor picture so far but there are a few very good redeeming qualities that make me want to stay here;
1. The professors I've had have been excellent so far. Many of my classes had very profound discussions where all the students were engaged. They were very helpful outside the classroom if you need help as well.
2. The student body is generally filled with nice and extremely talented people. If you're a music person like me you'll have no trouble making a band, even if rehearsing is near impossible. I had no trouble meeting a group of great friends that I vibe really hard with. I just wish the administration listened to the concerns of the awesome student body.
3. This school essentially has a monopoly on music education in the Nashville scene, it is fantastic for making connections; which is the most important part of music school IMO.
Overall I feel that this school isn't for everyone. If I wasn't a musical person I would definitely be miserable at this school. I'm not the "conservative christian" type, and most of the students here aren't either. There is an obvious divide between the administrators and the students, and this school could easily be far better if they kept their interests in mind instead of only their paychecks. If you aren't trying to get into their music or one of their entertainment industry programs and you feel like these issues would greatly bother you, this probably isn't the right school. When I toured this school I felt like I was lured in with their pretty campus and music culture without being painted a full picture. I feel that Belmont advertises itself as something that is far from reality. I don't hate this school and I'm not trying to discourage anybody with this review, I just felt disappointed with the realities I faced in my first year here, and I am unsure yet of whether I am going to transfer.

There are many things, as expected from many schools, that are frustrating about the administration at Belmont University. These are things that both students and faculty have to deal with. However, through talks with other students as well as faculty, we stay for the experience. The faculty are wonderful, outstanding, and highly educated. They connect with their students and get to know them. Class sizes are pretty small (at least for the school of music) and this leads to great discussion and connections from professors to students. The student body as a group is very welcoming, kind, fun-loving, a little nerdy, but filled with some good and generous people. Campus is absolutely gorgeous and going outside is very common and popular as a social activity. However, the cafeteria food is very bad and admin refuses to let you off the meal plan if you live on campus. They also need more on campus dining options to use bruin bucks or declining points. They need to be better about having more food options for people with allergies or dietary needs. But the overall experience, especially in the music school, is far worth it.

I think Belmont is a great school for certain groups of people. The lack of diversity is apparent and the racism and micro-aggressions experienced on campus, by students of color, are not something Belmont administration takes seriously, unless they are concerned about being sued.
Meghan
Pretty good! The class sizes are great and the campus is beautiful and easy to navigate. Mental health services and career services need to be larger and more developed in order to meet student demand. It is a very expensive college though and very little aid is awarded.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Belmont University is 81%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself to enjoy it more. I spent my entire freshman year stressed out about classes, finances, my roommate, and working. I didn't take the time to socialize as much as I should have. I didn't try new things. I did not have the typical freshman experience, because I didn't "stop to smell the roses." It took me a year to realize that I was at this amazing school and that I should celebrate and enjoy every second!
Quirky, funny, intellectual, and genuine, each individual classmate contributes his/her own personality and style to the school in order to challenge themselves academically, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually and to uphold the values for which Belmont stands.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Not to stress out too much about college life or being home sick. It is really easy to get used to being away and meeting new people and feeling at home.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
To me the worst thing about Belmont University is the cost of attending the school. I understand that private universities such as Belmont need to have a high tuition in order to keep up with their own costs, but the financial burden I have taken on with my parents is substantial. Currently, I am struggling to make ends meet with my off-campus apartment. Costs are really starting to add up and sometimes I'm not sure I will be able to make the necessary payments. "Cost" is the worst thing about Belmont University.
Anyone would be a good fit at Belmont, but students who are creative, self-motivated, and wanting to learn would thrive here. Students who specifically interested in music, be it the industry, songwriting, or performing, would be perfect fits. Also, students who are looking to be involved in campus organizations and the Nashville community are strongly encouraged to be here.
The best thing about Belmont University is that it offers degrees in music industry fields and that it sits atop Music Row in Nashville, Tennesee, Music City, USA. Many of the professors are music industry professionals with unique and meaningful experience to those of us passionate about the industry. The internship and networking opportunites are exceptional.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
At Belmont there are students from all walks of life with a wide range of interests, goals, and beliefs. I believe the only kind of person who wouldn't necessarily enjoy attending Belmont would be a student who wants the enviroment of a large campus.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Belmont University has a great music department. If you want to work in the music industry at any level you can get the training that you need at Belmont. The music professors are great. Belmont provides their students with great opportunities both on and off campus. Being in Nashville is also a great plus.
Classes are small and the professors do know you. Belmont's science department is underfunded. They have outdated equipment, small classrooms, and not enough faculty to teach all courses. The school does not put money into the department. Belmont only cares about music and their graduate school. The rest of the programs get little support.
Belmont has way too many students for its small campus size and the campus is packed. The administration refuses to recognize the small size of the school and continues to let more and more students in each year. There is not enough parking spaces for everyone and most people have to park off campus.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
The stereotypes the people at school are subjected to are that they are hipsters. Don't get me wrong there are hipsters, but most of the students that go there for the music in my experience has been because they want to go back to analog music. They want to revert to the old days of AC/DC, The Beetles, Bob Seger etc., but most people would think that the students want to make pop music.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
91% of students attending Belmont University receive some sort of financial aid.
15% were awarded federal grants.39%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
