I love Birmingham Southern. It is a campus where you feel overall safe and at home. The academics are important but also having fun! The professors are always welcoming and ready to answer any questions. There are multiple opportunities for internships and experiences all around. Overall Birmingham Southern is a school that prides itself on being home and school for students all over the county.

I love Birmingham Southern College. It is a great campus, full of amazing people and professors who really care about you and your successes. There are so many opportunities on campus, you just have to find them. Its a small campus, either you know everyone or know of everyone.

Overall, I absolutely love this college. I wish I was able to attend this upcoming fall. The students and faculties are so wonderful. They make everyone feel welcome,safe, and comfortable. Even though I only spend 3 days on campus, I can definitely say it felt like home away from home. And if you're seeking for a college that feels like family, stop looking because you already found it!

I loved visiting BSC and look forward to being a student on campus in the fall. I will be working towards my pharmacy degree and also getting a minor in business while I’m at BSC. I will also be on the football team so I’m excited about joining the Panther family. I look forward to working with the coaching staff and the professors.

Birmingham Southern College is a perfect choice for me. The class sizes are smaller. Average class size is maybe fifteen to twenty students. I have a great appreciation for the smaller environment because it will afford me the opportunity not to be a number in class. I will be afforded the opportunity to know my classmates and the instructors and I will be known name. I’ve visited Birmingham Southern College three times and each time I felt welcomed and I the energy was positive. I totally envision myself attending school there. The campus is very clean, the dorm rooms are nice and the sport facilities are equipped with updated equipment.

I just finished my first year at Birmingham- Southern College and it was the best year I could have asked for. From living in California to going to school in Birmingham, Alabama was a huge move for me, but the people who are on the campus from friends to sorority sisters to professors have made my school feel like home, and ultimately the best choice I have ever made. The professors are always willing to help outside of the classroom. There was never a time when I needed help with my school work, that a professor was unable to help. Also, the people I have met have become my lifelong friends. Everyone on campus is very friendly, and are always willing to help. I remember I needed a ride off campus and my car was in repair, and my friend was willing to drive me off campus as soon as she heard that my car was broken. The housing situation was all I could have asked for as well. The freshman dorms always had available showers, laundry, and bathrooms, and I never had to wait my turn to use any of those 3. Overall Birmingham-Southern College is a great community to be a part of, and a proud place to be a Panther!

Birmingham - Southern is my home away from home! As soon as I stepped on campus I felt the family atmosphere! It is an amazing school! There are so many opportunities here! It is not easy work but it is a challenge met with help! You will never be alone here! #ForwardEver

I think it is overall a fairly good institution. It is small, but welcoming with good facilities and education. It is a nice community of students and professors, and the campus is very safe. They have a wide variety of majors from the arts to the sciences, and as a liberal arts school they give many opportunities to study things that interest you that may not be within your major. They also have many good connections that are very helpful when it comes to finding internships and eventually a career.

I think it is a great college so far. The only thing I did not like was orientation for three days before the first day of class. I felt like I was being forced to make friends in my orientation group and I don't talk to any of them. But i have met amazing people through my classes. I'm especially excited for Jan term!

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
When looking for a good college to attend, do not simply choose a place because of its name. Think about what it is that you want to get out of your college experience and make your decision from there. I chose a smaller college because I wanted to go somewhere where the professors would actually know my name and would care enough about my education to help me succeed. My college may not be known for its football team or 'ivy league status,' but it is definitely known for producing the most respected leaders and scholars of tomorrow.
Once you have chosen the college you want to go to and have moved in on the first day, things may seem a little scary. That is okay. You will make friends and get involved and pretty soon, you will be the one comforting prospective students by telling them what an amazing experience college can be. It is important that you learn to make every effort to pay attention in class and get homework done. While college can be a lot of fun, you are also there to learn and to expand your education for the betterment of your future. Good luck!
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The school places a strong emphasis on diversity and multiculturalism, but many faculty and students can be hostile to Christian beliefs. The campus seems more concerned about getting a long than the truth.
The people at Birmingham-Southern College are hard working, talented, and creative individuals. Each student dedicates much time and energy to each class he or she takes. When a students begins to struggle he/she does not give up. They work hard to give their all every day. It shows in each future career that Birmingham-Southern College graduates pursue. Hard workers willing to make great effort and wanting to pursue great challenges should attend this school.
Mostly for two things. One for the Greek life, and two for the academic standing. BSC is known to be a high academic school with a lot of students participating in Greek Life.
The academics at BSC are the best in the state. Through small class sizes, engaging professors, and dedicated students, every class offered here challenges students to learn more.

Birmingham-Southern is a liberal arts college dedicated to helping shape its students into global citizens. There’s an incredible spirit on campus that inspires us to experience cultures, religions, languages and lifestyles different from our own. It teaches us to challenge ourselves and requires us to journey beyond our comfort zones. My college education at BSC has already changed my life and the direction it will take. I’m eager to immerse myself in other cultures, and I yearn for knowledge and growth. A college education is the key that will open the doors that lay before me.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had realized how quickly four years go by. I would want to know to carefully plan out the courses I wanted to take and the activities I wanted to participate in to ensure that I would not miss out on any opportunities.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
As (what I would consider) a very successful high school student, I feel I never found a successful way to learn and perform the best that I could at Birmingham-Southern. It's a very intimidating college as a new student and it seems that there is one type of student that they cater to help. Students that would be considered "brown-nosers" are the most successful. This was frustrating to me because extroversion is not one of my personality traits which kept me from standing out in a positive way.
Most of the students here on campus are civil but since it is such a small campus anything anyone does gets around to everyone in a very short amount of time. its like high school all over again (except for the education)
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
When I tell my friends about Birmingham-Southern College I like to tell them how challenging it is. Each class I took during the first semester of college took time and effort. I attended all of my classes each time they met and the professors took notice. I worked late in to the night on most nights in order to do my best work. The faculty at this small school always takes the time to talk to me when I'm struggling or when I just want to say "hi." I brag about the challenge because I grow through it.

Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
