Utah Tech University, formerly known as Dixie State, offers a unique blend of academic and natural experiences. Its proximity to national parks is a major perk for nature lovers like me. I've had great experiences with professors who genuinely care about their students and are approachable outside of class. The facilities are top-notch, including modern classrooms and labs, and the free gym for full-time students is a bonus. There are numerous student events advertised across campus, ensuring everyone is aware and can participate. Class sizes are manageable. I appreciate the school's emphasis on applied learning, which enhances practical skills and real-world readiness. Many students benefit from scholarships, and there are ample opportunities to apply for them on the school website. The campus community is supportive, with various clubs and organizations that cater to people's interests. The scenic campus itself is beautiful and well-maintained, providing a great atmosphere for studying and socializing. Utah Tech University offers a well-rounded, good college experience.

Though I am currently a new student at this campus, I believe it to be a wonderful and ever-growing university. As there has been many additions and changes; it has led to the growing popularity of Dixie's beauty. Through out the lecture rooms, newly added availability to all students, and the professors I have felt very safe, collected, and excited at this University!

Being a freshman here I have loved it. The people are all so nice and helpful around campus. Professors do a great job getting to know their students on an individual level which is important to me. The student government on campus does a great job advertising games and events happening on campus and there always seems to be something to do. Overall I love this school and know that I made the right decision to come here!

The school definitely has something special about it! The people are constantly together in the common areas with tons of groups and activities. I recommend going for a visit if you can especially if you are considering Utah Tech as your school of choice you’ll have a blast.

I will be attending next fall and I am super excited ! I have always wanted to go to this school ever since I was little ! I will be playing on the softball team while I am attending and I am super excited ! I love the atmosphere of the school and the people there ! The area is awesome there is so much to do and so many shops and places to get food !

It's a very good neighborhood college. I love the smaller town feel as well as the accessibility of stores and restaurants. I would say that the biggest problem at Utah Tech (new name for DSU) is parking and transportation. It is right next to I15 and I15 divides the city in half with only a few ways to get across. No parking garages so the lots are always very crowded.

Dixie State University from back home is seen as just a party school. That the people here only come to part and get drunk and to experience the college life. The honest truth is that every college has those people that come with that intention. Dixie State is like any other college with cool fun loving people. The international students especially bring so much uniqueness to this school. The professors are all lax yet show that they care for us and want us to pass their class. Soon to be Utah Tech University the college is a college for everyone and you'll make the bestest friends. Every wednesday of the school year there is an event to go and enjoy to especially meet new people from all around the West US. This is a great university for all.

You are probably smarter than your professors. Go to another school, this “university” is like high school. I have never seen lack of competence more than i have attending this school. Even if your do your assignments, and there is a technical problem on their end, it is still your problem and you will have no other option but to fail the class. Trashy and uneducated professors, there is really nothing good about this school.

Its a great school, the food on campus is great there's Pizza Hut, Sushi, Subway, Etc. The classroom size is around 20-30 people which is basically a high school classroom size. The people here on campus is helpful and friendly. My roommates were kind and great to me the first day I got to the dorm rooms. Ive met great people but unfortunately with some friends you'll make you dont want to keep them if they're bad influence to you

DSU is cost effective and has small class sizes that make it easy to socialize with fellow students and professors. Most professors are very invested in their students. DSU is going through a period of growth and change, so there are some really updated buildings and some really out of date buildings. Overall, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I love Dixie State! During the 2020 pandemic they have taken many precautions for the safety of its students, while maintaining a fun healthy environment for students! The professors are very easy to get ahold of and class sizes help with one on one help.

It is a growing campus with a lot of plans for growth. There are still some outdated areas, but they are planning and working on updating the campus. It would be a lot better if more activities and clubs were offered. The life on campus is not much, and the surrounding areas don't offer a lot.

I love Dixie State! It is lively and has a beautiful campus. The class sizes are perfect and most of the professors are understanding and make sure the students know what is happening in their class. The facilities are great and the university is growing more and more each year. I do wish that school spirit was more prevalent here but that's a small price to pay for an amazing school.

It is a super good up and coming university school and very comfortable place to be when coming straight out of high school or from any where in life. It is a good priced tuition school, not too expensive and pretty affordable, super prideful school, always active and something going on, and the people are super good. The professors are good and make sure everyone understands what they're doing and what is going on in class. Counselors and teachers do the most to help you and make sure you are set for success.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
dEAR SELF college is full of ups and downs but all you can do is float...with the harsh dorm conditions and the weird roommates.
Oh yeah manage your money son, cuz we took a hit several times and needed things we had no funds for so save at least something. Study dont be so distracted by the maybes out on campus meaning(girls,recreational basketball,and parties). Stay on track your a strong young gifted man use your brain.

The city is small and the college doesn't pay much so all the Professors teach there because they want to be there and that makes the biggest difference between a college and a university.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frusterating thing about Dixie State College is that there is hardly any student involvment or activities! It is difficult to get involved and when you do there is never a very good turn out of students. The college seems a little more like a high school than a college, but there was a lot more student interest in high school.
Any person who is outgoing, social, and ready for a smooth transition into college life should attend Dixie. The students and faculty at Dixie are always willing to help and are excited about everything the school has to offer. People who love the outdoors would do great at Dixie because the location is ideal for outdoor adventures. People who aren't positive what they wnat to major in right away but want a good sound place to get through their generals should definitely come to Dixie. I have found Dixie to be an amazing school both academically and socially.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known more about the program I was entering into. It didn't meet my expectations and so I switched majors (which I am now happy with. I also wish I had understood the somewhat dominant religious culture of the area. It was a bit of culture shock at first, but I have grown to understand it bette and gain insigt into a world I knew almost nothing of. And, everyone on campus who is of that religion are very understanding and absolutely fine if you do not share the same views.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
It is a positive environment with good professors. I can walk anywhere on campus in 5 minutes. It is affordable. Friendly atmosphere with students willing to help each other.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
