FAMU offers amazing opportunities and networking that truly help students grow. The campus facilities, including dining and housing, are decent but sometimes struggle with organization during unexpected situations. There’s slight favoritism in clubs, but it encourages involvement. It’s a great school to break out of your shell, but if you're extremely shy, it might be overwhelming.

I love Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. While I am not yet a student on campus, I have recently visited the school. In early November, I attended the Homecoming football game. There was so much culture and spirit at the game! Seeing so many alumni come back and represent their school was amazing. However, this is different from what inspired me to want to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical; it was my campus tour. On my tour, I had the amazing opportunity to witness students on Forum Day at FAMU's School of Business and Industry. Students around campus were dressed professionally and engaged in intellectual conversations. Most importantly, I loved hearing students talk about the networking opportunities provided for them. This was when I knew Floridia Agricultural and Mechanical was the school for me.

It has its issues, as every school does or anywhere you go, but all in all the good outweigh the bad and theirs so much love and energy on this campus. You just have to find the things to appreciate and know that the negative aspects are only bumps in the road and trials to make you stronger and you will get through them.

I love my school and everything it stands for. The culture, the community and the unit of people of color is really important to me and my campus is rich with different cultures. There is a little something for everyone and I love how even though you might be the most l person you can still find your cliques and friends. I have never not felt safe on campus. I honestly think it’s like one big family. I am proud to be a rattler! Strike, strike and strike again!

FAMU lives up to the expectations. There are plenty of facilities and faculty members to help students succeed. The environment is welcoming and it is inspiring to see people who look like me doing things others deemed "impossible". This school provides students with ample opportunities, resources, and representations of excellence. Nothing at this school comes with a charge, with is refreshing to the mind of broke college students. If I could recommend one school to a prospective student, I would recommend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

I enjoy it there. I find it to be a good variety of things and there is never a dull day while I am there. There is a traditional HBCU culture with band, football, and cheerleaders. It's full of opportunity and promise. It's a good school and I would recommend it.

I love this school. I love the culture and the life it has. However, you have to take into account it is an HBCU and I really want to say that HBCUs having limited resources is a stereotype but at times it's not. It is a real thing. This school is understaffed and it's frustrating to say that I was one of the students who did not get housed on campus for fall 2022 and as a result went back home. The staff at times won't answer the phone and I can't fully get mad because there are 10 thousand students in one little office. I would be irritated too. However, there's a simple solution to this that they simply aren't considering and it's to hire more. They can afford it. Tuition for out-of-state students like myself is high and it's a public school meaning they're getting funded by the government as well. But at times I'm willing to overlook that for the positives of this school. The overall culture on campus is amazing and there are great professors. It feels like a community that'll stick with me even when I graduate. Not to mention the food was scrumptious like I was eating good every day. Maybe my rating is a little generous but I couldn't help but rate the number one public HBCU a 4/5.

FAMU is just like home. I am from a small town in North Carolina and I always said that so would move away and attend an HBCU. This school has everything I wanted; my major, diversity, and dance. The environment is so welcoming and the professors are A-one

I love it here. A came up here because I wanted the full experience of an HBCU and FAMU have provided that for me. The professors I've were exceptional. Most of them were already working in fields that are of interest to me which made it easier to ask them for advice and get the help that I needed. I joined a mentoring program and its the best decision that I made. We help each other out in every way possible. We create study section, school navigation, and also we talk to each other about mental health, academics, and work opportunity.

As HBCU's goes , there is nothing better than FAMU. From set Fridays, to Fried chicken Wednesday, even to the study hall Saturdays, this is definitely the best choice. With teacher who care and a welcoming atmosphere you will enjoy your 4 years here.

My opinion about FAMU is that it is family oriented. The professors and the staff treats all of the students like we are their own. They show tough love and expects a lot from the students because they genuinely want us to succeed. They provided lots of extracurricular activities and lots of study groups and clubs. They make everything easy for students to get the proper learning tools we need and also makes it fun to be there.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell my "high school" self, that there are going to be so many different kind of challenges that you will be facing in college, never give up when times get hard. Just look at it as something you're going to overcome. Stay strong, study, and do your best. Just know that you already completed your first challenge by going to college. And thats a huge step into starting you life. In the end you'll be proud of yourself for not giving up and overcoming those challenges.
My school is best known for the band. The Marching 100 was organized in 1946 and has over 420 members. The 100 has performed during NFL Super Bowl halftime shows, presidential inaugurations, and numerous parades throughout the world.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A person who isn't comfortable being areound a lot of African Americans probably shouldn't attend Florida A and M. The majority of the students and most of the teachers are African American. This is probably the only problem that a person would have with the school.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
My school is the largest historically black university in the United States by enrollment. Florida A&M University was also named one of Forbes Magazine's America's top colleges in the nation. Famu was also recognized on the Forbes list for best research colleges.
Professors will definetly know your name. Professors can be hard on you, but they do this to push you to perform your best. Depending on your major, students can be very competitive.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
At my school, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University there are several types of clicks...or one can say sororities, fraternities, or any organization. Amongst our school, there is a group that everyone is in. There is one particular organization on our campus that is called Every Nation Campus Ministries. This organization is for college students to come and bond around christians and grow. Everyone belongs to something.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
I say yes. FAMU has the biggest HBCU homecoming. It's an entire week. It also has three classics held in staudiums. Since FAMU is the biggest HBCU, and it is in a college town, students always have something to do. FAMU students will always been seen protesting because the students are very into politics. There many modeling troupes on campus, and when you step on FAMU campus, it's like walking a runway.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
