Going college has completely changed the way of viewed my life and the world around through the combination of learning and interacting with some many diverse people. For me college is a good trial place to experence the "real world" and living on my own. In just the two years I've spent at FSU I have found meaning and truth in my life through my faith and beliefs. Becuase of my newfound faith and more intensive education I have been motivated to live beyond just myself and want to make a postive impact on society as whole. Before coming to college I want to get a good education and make money, now I have real purpose for continueing my education and that is to gain the skills and experience to help not only myself, but those around me especially the less fortunate. I feel that my mere 2 years at college has already transformed into a person who lives beyond himself and pride.

So far, I have gained a better understanding of the world around me. I feel more intelligent than I was before I attended, and am determined to finish my degree strong. I am going to be going to Illinois State University in the Fall of 2010 and am excited to expand my knowledge further than it is currently. I am going to be looking into Legal Studies, and intend on being a lawyer. I have set my expectations/goals higher than they have ever been. I have been pushing myself more and more as time has progressed. I never would have had the drive that I do now if I had never attended college. I am passioniate about what I do, and will continue to be passioniate until the job is done. So the value of attending college is more than just a fancy degree with an unpronouncable major. The value of attending college stretches into embracing the knowledge gained, and the pursuit of learning more.

Since the time that i came here to Florida State i have grown alot as a person. The first year at college is a instramental time in peoples lives and the atmosphere here at FSU was one of encouragment. The facalty and staff are friendly and good natured, and they offer any amount of help and reasources to students; all you have to do is seek the help. This and many other things have been a huge building factor for my life.

The most important lesson that I have learned from college is this: How you were in high school does not have to dictate how you will be in college. I was a self-described "lazy genius" in high school. I had grades ranging from the highest A to the lowest F. I always thought that I didn't need to study in order to learn the material. I tended to have C's and D's throughout the year in English and Social Studies classes, only to get an A on the final and pull my grade up to a B, or a 5 on the AP Exam while having a D in the class. College completely changed this perspective for me, especially when I got into Calculus 3 and Intermediate Mechanics. I discovered that I can't just be expected to know everything without studying or doing the homework, that it takes an extreme amount of effort to truly excel. After a very tough freshman year, I finally realized what it means to be smart and to be successful. I also learned that I won't always be the smartest, but I've come to accept that.

I think college helps you to be a well balanced person. The mixture of learning, working, studying, making new friends, having fun and finding out what is important to me in my life is invaluable. My college experience is getting me ready to face the "real" world of work, making money and having a family and being able to be successful at all of them because I am figuring out who I am and how to balance life's pros and cons in the relative safety of my college experience.

Many people say that they want to attend or are attending college because it is basically an automatic salary boost in whichever job they are pursuing. However, my college experience has been so much more than that. College is a microcosm of all the countries and cultures of the world compacted into 6.2Km^2. It has been extremely valuable to attend college because any one person learns so much more than what is just taught in a classroom. All the students on campus come together as one to learn about each other, participating in different events and activities on campus. These happenings range from the on campus student circus to market Wednesdays to the student who plays guitar in the courtyard in order to raise money to help the Haiti Relief Fund. My experience so far has not only molded me intellectually but also molded me to be a better and more productive person in whole. Thus, I think it is easy to say that being able to attend college has been the best thing to ever happen to me. I hope any student who has the opportunity to, will attend a college or university and make lifetime friends.

I have learned the career path I have chosen, Accounting, will take a strong proficiency in understanding knowledge based jobs. Individuals or businesses will be trusting me to do my work with integrity and an understanding of tax laws and codes to maximize the amount of money they will be receiving for their tax returns. If necessary, I will also be counseling them to adopt habits conducive to establishing sound economic behavior. We live in the information age. Formal education is becoming more critical to navigate the ever changing waters of progress and technological literacy. I realize I have to learn how to more efficiently and effectively adapt to the frenetic pace the secular world has chosen to initiate. Returning to school has opened my eyes to the doors of opportunity the information age offers to people willing to pursue their aspirations will due diligence, hard work, and a strong sense of purpose required to succeed in the information age.

Out of my college experience I have learned kindness. This campus was the friendliest campus out of all the ones I visited. During "preview" I would get lost and have to pull out a map to find where I was going. Within two minutes of having my map out at least three students stopped and asked where I was headed and pointed me in the right direction. Now being a student here I find myself doing the exact same thing to those that I see that are lost. There are so many opportunites on this campus for volunteering and helping out for many different causes. Every day there is something going on to benifit others. We've had a Help for Haiti drive, and annually we have events for Light the Night for blood cancers, Children's Miracle Network, and so many more. This campus has taught me to be a model citizen that contributes and aids the community.

From my college experienced I have learned to be a responsible young adult. Attending college at every scheduled class day is the first step to being responsible. Not only have I attended class regularly, but I attend class and give my best effort at every class assignment. Alongside taking on the resonsibility of giving my best effort in class I had to be determined. Determination has kept me going everyday. I wake up every morning before school and look at my son. When I look at him I know every college hour I've earned is valuable to me because it goes toward my earning of a good supporting job.

During the two years I have been in college I have learned lesson that will carry on through out life, such as money management. Since I no longer live at home I have to take care of myself and it has taught me that money does not grow on trees and that paying bills leaves a very empty feeling in your stomach and your checkbook. I have also learned that you cannot rely oon others around you to help you because it is up to you to make some thing happen.
