What should every freshman at Florida State University know before they start?

Michael

What I have gotten out of college was alot of experience to learn how to do refrigeration and to be more social around people. I learned that there is more to do in life then to not go to school and wait for a good career. College helps you with your choices to be successful in the future and to be a good role model for younger people which will also help them go to school too. Attending San Joaquin Valley College here in Bakersfield did not only help me but also help out a few of my family members because they started going to college after I did. This college was valuable for me to attend because now my future goals are to own me a business and to help out people that do not have goals on going to college and have a successful life.

College has been an experience of a lifetime. You learn so many thing inside and outside of the classroom. I have learned to deal with people of different backgrounds, such as religion, culture, sexual orientation, and economic status. I have acquired to tools I need to have a successful life in the career of teaching. Not only did FSU teach me to cook, but it taught me to be responsible for myself. I made friends that I will know through my adult life, and even met the man I will spend the rest of my life with. I learned more about my religion by attending on-campus services and events. I even learned that I can kick a kickball pretty far by participating in intra-mural sports. Inside the classroom I learned how I can change one child's life, and motivate students to enjoy mathematics. I have spend my time in public schools getting to know the school system and preparing myself for reality. I have an oncampus job that has helped me pay my bills and make connections. Without FSU I would have been lost, but now I have the direction I need to be happy.

My college experience has just begun, and i can say for sure that i have not gotten the full experience just yet. Besides the simple fact that i am free from my parents, college has given me a chance to build dicipline and blossom into a young woman. My college experience has been full of choices, your either right or wrong, or do right or wrong, but regardless your decision, you never walk out empty handed. I have made mistakes and learned a lot from it. I have met a tons of people that i instantly made bonds with and know our relationship will be long lasting even after we graduate. They say college can either make you or break you, but FSU is in the process of breaking me down, and remodeling and building me up into an even more intelligent young lady who will go into the world and take charge. Go Seminoles!!

I feel that by attending FSU, I have gained a wonderful experience. I have experienced being away from my home and making many new friends. I have also gotten to experience the different types of people that are on my campus. I have also been able to join a sorrty and help my community such as the Womens Domestic Violence Awareness Association. By having these different experiences, I can relate to many different things that will later happen in my life.

I am currently enrolled at Aims Community College, and I plan on furthering my education to become an elementary school teacher. I believe that no child should be left behind, therefore making a difference in many childerens life as an instructor to further their education as well as mine. This school will be valuable for me to attend so that I could set an example for all the children in my community, letting them see how school could make a difference, not only their life, but others as well. I plan on getting the most I can possibly get out of my education and put it to great use as i build my career there on after. Serving my community and my country all starts within and college is the first step in doing so. Let me make the difference in society, and stand up for what I believe in. Let the children come and stand up for what they believe in. Let the schools help the children in doing just that and finally let me help the children reach for their goals. Thank you. Sincerely, Amber Robinson

I have gained a sense of independence, individuality and outgoingingness attending FSU. I have become part of the FSU community for life. Going here has been the best experience of my life. I have been able to explore numerous classes and learn things that I would have otherwise never have learned. Going here has allowed me to learn and experience what it is I want to do while also allowing me to investigate other potential paths. All in all, I truely believe that I am better having gone to FSU. I have really been able to find out more about myself and what I am truly passionate about and turn that into a career. I have always thought it cheesy when people say that college is the best years of your life, but truthfully, it is. College is where I explored, learned and grew. FSU has made me who I am today.

My college experience has been an eye opening journey that has brought me from the child I once was to promising adult well on my way to attaining my goals. In my first years at FSU I was unsure of where my life was headed, but recently things have fallen in to place and with the help of some new found friends and faculty members I was able to realize my goals. My experiences, both good and bad, have made me who I am today, a more confident individual ready to take the necessary steps to get where I need to go. With a new and improved view on the world I am more prepared to get on the right path to success. My experience has certainly not been without its bumps, but now I see that they have helped me to grow and become stronger instead of pulling me down. And even though I once resisted change I found the strength to leave behind all the things and people holding me down and the insight to know that change is inevitable and beneficial no matter how hard it seems.

Hello. My name is Alyssa. I am a full-time student. I am almost done with my second term back in school after taking the nine years after high-school graduation to discover the joys of retail. It turns outs, customer service is not my calling. So now, I am struggling to make ends meet with full-time work and full-time school. I think that makes me a very good student. I am working my hardest make my dream of becoming a teacher come true, and to un-become a customer service representative, as fun as that has been. Being back in school is very valuable to me.

I have been able to realize that life is completely different than living at home. At first I had a hard time away from my family, but it gets easier. One thing that I really became was independent. College is an experience in itself. I learned many things such as managing time, doing things for myself, communicating and cooperating with others. Everything I learn has meaning in my life and will be valuable in my future.

College has been a wonderful expercience for me! Instead of going straight to a university, I chose to go to a community college. I am a very hands-on person and I love one-on-one attention so the communtiy college was wonderful me. Also, I wanted to get some of my prerequisites out of the way without having to spend tons of money. I am putting myself through college so saving money while getting the best education I can is very important to me. Putting myself through college has made me work harder and apply myself better in my classes. School is not a joke to me and I am there to learn and succeed. Also, college has been valuable to attend because it has allowed me to make connections with not only teachers, but also people my age with the same passions. Hopefully I will keep these friendships and connections for a very long time.
