It's surprisingly great for a community college. I've been a running start/dual enrollment student at Green River Community College for a year and a half now, and the learning experience is pretty varied. The class sizes are pretty small, which makes it easy to get to know your professors and ask them for help, the campus is close to nature and has a comforting environment, and the people and staff are all kind. There are a couple of problems though, like the campus and facilities being pretty small, and the campus is kind of in the middle of nowhere in Auburn, there isn't much close to it. Also, their advising system is sub-par, especially for new students. Their website and teachers will often direct you to the wrong advisors, which will in turn lead to you joining the wrong classes. For anyone planning to create an education plan on what classes to take, I advise you to meet with an advisor who specializes in the field you wish to major in. The last main detriment to the school is the fact that since it's not near much, most of the students are commuters, so the social life on campus isn't the greatest. Other than that, the school is pretty good!

As a Running Start student, college in high school, the community college has exceeded my expectation. High School teachers make college seem intimidating but I honestly prefer the environment more than the high school. The community college offers many activities that are inclusive of everyone. I like how helpful and kinds the staffs are. Green River College is a great community college that ensures their students receive good quality education.

Green River College is a beautiful campus with great professors. I have had no negative experiences here, but it is an environment where most people are looking for a short, educational experience. Campus is relatively safe, there is a lot of security, but I would still be aware of my surroundings.

Jared - 04/04/2022

It's a good place to get an associate's degree, but it's still mostly a community college despite the name change. You will have to go elsewhere for most bachelor's programs. The campus looks pretty nice and the student union is a pretty comfy building.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I got the chance to go back to high school I would not let myself give up as easily as I did. My junior year of high school my parents went through a really nasty divorce, which I felt like, ruined my life. My mother had been cheating on my dad for the past thirteen years with many different men including her ex husband who she ended up re-marrying again recently. I was a gymnast for thirteen years and always made pretty good grades in school. When my parents got a divorce my entire life changed and I had to quit and start taking care of my younger sisters. My grades suffered and I almost completely stopped caring about school. If I could go back I would tell myself to push through the pain and that it will eventually get better but high school is time for myself and important if I want to go to a good college. I ended up going to a community college, which was not what I had planned. I would have told myself not to procrastinate on anything and always try my hardest.

  14. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

In this school I find that there are a lot more foreign students then anything else. It's so different to walk around campus and hear a sprawl of different Asian languages and on the occation other languages like Russian and Spanish are thrown into the mix as well. I don't hear a lot of American chatter. It's so different and new that it makes my college see like a different world compaired to the one I've been living in, and that's why I love it so much.
