It's surprisingly great for a community college. I've been a running start/dual enrollment student at Green River Community College for a year and a half now, and the learning experience is pretty varied. The class sizes are pretty small, which makes it easy to get to know your professors and ask them for help, the campus is close to nature and has a comforting environment, and the people and staff are all kind. There are a couple of problems though, like the campus and facilities being pretty small, and the campus is kind of in the middle of nowhere in Auburn, there isn't much close to it. Also, their advising system is sub-par, especially for new students. Their website and teachers will often direct you to the wrong advisors, which will in turn lead to you joining the wrong classes. For anyone planning to create an education plan on what classes to take, I advise you to meet with an advisor who specializes in the field you wish to major in. The last main detriment to the school is the fact that since it's not near much, most of the students are commuters, so the social life on campus isn't the greatest. Other than that, the school is pretty good!

As a Running Start student, college in high school, the community college has exceeded my expectation. High School teachers make college seem intimidating but I honestly prefer the environment more than the high school. The community college offers many activities that are inclusive of everyone. I like how helpful and kinds the staffs are. Green River College is a great community college that ensures their students receive good quality education.

Green River College is a beautiful campus with great professors. I have had no negative experiences here, but it is an environment where most people are looking for a short, educational experience. Campus is relatively safe, there is a lot of security, but I would still be aware of my surroundings.

It's a good place to get an associate's degree, but it's still mostly a community college despite the name change. You will have to go elsewhere for most bachelor's programs. The campus looks pretty nice and the student union is a pretty comfy building.

I've only taken online classes through running start so far, but all of the professors have been extremely nice and very easy to get ahold of for questions. I've been to campus a couple of times at it looks very well maintained and I've never heard of any safety concerns. Overall if you're looking to get a good education without forking out big money to go to a bigger school this would be a good option.

Well I think it is a decent community college campus. Washington has this program called running start and people always ask my if I am a running start student because of my appearance. It doesn\'t really feel like a college experience to me because of people going there for running start. Sometimes I would make friends with running start students and meet people my age along the way. The college is a very clean campus, but there is no parties, no frats/sorority, or any kind of drinking or drugs. It\'s a pretty laidback campus but my honest opinion as an introverted person is that it does feel boring at times because I usually hang out by myself unless I go to a club or participate in the sport that I play in. It feels like high school, without all the immature drama. But it is hard making friends.

Like every college it has its pros and cons. It is a beautiful school and all the teachers are very kind and really want to help their students. Another plus is that the school doesn’t just want you for your money, but they actually want to educate you and help you to be successful. The downside is that there is never any parking!!!

Best college ever. Since I came here in the United state from Afghanistan which is a country of war and every one know about it green River was the safest academical place I have ever seen in all of my life. The environment is so academic, teachers are so helpful , they are keeping office hours Beside the class to help the students. Another thing which I really love about this community college is that in this college there are too many students from different countries and international students but there is no difference between them every body gets the equal right and that’s the great point .

My overall opinion of Green River College is that it is a great school! They provide many different opportunities for the students that can help their academic, career, social, and extracurricular life. There are many resources that are accessible to the students and everyone on campus is very friendly and helpful. The facilities are great and feel as if you are at home. It is a great place for both college students and students who are part of the Running Start program. If there was one thing that I could choose to change, it would be the parking, as it is very often hard for students to find parking, and the parking lots can be a bit scary. Green River College is a great place to get an education an meet new (and diverse) people.

green river is a great school, with amazing faculty, and such inclusive staff and students. it has helped me be more involved with my community, in politics, and other world issues. clubs include everyone, and teachers are always there to help. Aside from attending green river full time I also work in the bookstore, which is an amazing workplace.

Green River College is overall an awesome community college. The professors are all very helpful and welcoming when students need help. All the buildings are close together so you don't have to walk very far when you have classes across campus. I also like the professors for how they teach. They make sure the students understand the material

This college is a perfect size and the campus is beautiful. I can really tell that all the professors love what they do and care about all of their students. Overall, I think this is a great school to start at before transferring to a 4-year university. This is my second (and last) year at Green River and I am sad to say goodbye to it in the spring.

It is a great school to start off at, the support they have for first year college students. Helps a lot they are always there for you at all times of the night. They live to care about you, show their support not with words but, with actions. As a first year student at green river college, even though I started a week ago. This school has showed me that I have nothing to stress about. when it comes to understanding school and its materials that I have all the help I need and want in life.

I love Green River, it is a beautiful accepting environment with great staff and community. I do not any experience with the housing but if it is like the rest of the school it will be well kept and open to everyone. I love how accessible and approachable the professors and other staff are.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I got the chance to go back to high school I would not let myself give up as easily as I did. My junior year of high school my parents went through a really nasty divorce, which I felt like, ruined my life. My mother had been cheating on my dad for the past thirteen years with many different men including her ex husband who she ended up re-marrying again recently. I was a gymnast for thirteen years and always made pretty good grades in school. When my parents got a divorce my entire life changed and I had to quit and start taking care of my younger sisters. My grades suffered and I almost completely stopped caring about school. If I could go back I would tell myself to push through the pain and that it will eventually get better but high school is time for myself and important if I want to go to a good college. I ended up going to a community college, which was not what I had planned. I would have told myself not to procrastinate on anything and always try my hardest.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Varied, depending on where you choose to spend your time the mood completly changes, from dead set on getting work done and doing well, to being laid back and just taking a break.
People in my classes come from a variety of different backgrounds and histories, some of them are very educated and have a degree from another school already, while others are just graduated from high school, and some still who are further along in life looking for a change or just to have fun and enjoy learning.
Any person that wants to further their education should be able to attend this school! This school has an array of educational programs that could fit in anybody's busy lifestyle. From online classes to traditional classrooms. Anybody can attend this school because there is a few locations that might make it easier for them to attend the City University of Seattle!
The school is best known for being diverse. Everyone are welcome; going there I feel like home. There are many clubs and activities to join. The staffs are great and the courses are well taught.
The instructors are nice and gladly to answer student's question via email. I think the number of class should be increase, the waitlists are horrible!
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The fact that it is hard to schedual classes for a quarter, Green River has small to medium class sizes and this makes it difficult to get your first choice classes sometimes.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A person who shouldn't attend the City Uniniversity of Seattle could be a person who can't find their program at this school or this school is not the right fit for them. This school has online classes too and this might not be the right situation for them.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
In this school I find that there are a lot more foreign students then anything else. It's so different to walk around campus and hear a sprawl of different Asian languages and on the occation other languages like Russian and Spanish are thrown into the mix as well. I don't hear a lot of American chatter. It's so different and new that it makes my college see like a different world compaired to the one I've been living in, and that's why I love it so much.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular were our lab activities because they were done as a groups of four or groups of two if other people were absent. It was a team work, which really helps in a process to learn. I really appreciated that opportunity.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.

56% of students attending Green River College receive some sort of financial aid.
34% were awarded federal grants.17%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
