Iowa State is best known for reasons such as our athletics, our engineering department, and our beautiful campus, but overall I think Iowa State is best known for its tradition. Tradition has value and it shows pride and at Iowa State we have a lot of that. Tradition is playing the school fight song before and during sport events, tradition is displaying your school for a whole week, tradition is cherry pies. At Iowa State we have nemours traditions and people know it. This is what I think Iowa State is best known for.

Our school is best known for it's together-ness of students - one of the phrases students use to describe our school is that we are a CyclONE NATION. Although we are all going down our own paths in our lives at this school, at the end of the day we are one nation. Although this is a big university the friendliness of those on campus and the school spirit we are surrounded with makes it seem much smaller than it is.

Iowa State University is best known for the wide variety of colleges offered and the large greek community. There are six total colleges including agriculture and life sciences, business, design, engineering, human sciences, and liberal arts and sciences. The college of engineering has a fantastic program for prospective students and has had excellent reviews from peers and professionals. The greek community is also widely appraised with great diversity amoung the chapters. I am a member of Sigma Kappa and I love having so many sisters to share my new experiences with. Iowa State is definitely a school worth considering.

Our school is best known for innovations in science and technology. The first computer in the entire world was created here at Iowa State University. Our professors are recipients of notable achievement awards only reserved for the highest accomplishments in their respective fields. I have been lucky enough to rub elbows with the people and professors who are changing the wold around us as we speak. Whenever I hear our university mentioned in a documentary or on the Discovery Channel with regards to breakthroughs in science and engineering, I feel a resounding surge of pride.
