I believe lyon is a great school, love the campus and all the activities they offer. the town it is in is kinda dead and smelly because of the chicken plant next door. there are parties on the weekends and lots of outdoor activities. but school is kinda going downhill bc they are going d3, but new administration is coming !

Its a good, small, private college with religious morals. Its constantly growing and most likely still has more to go. The biggest sports team is football but they offer soccer, volleyball, softball, and basketball. Campus housing is hit or miss depending on what building you are placed in. Food is solidly OK.

Overall, I think Lyon has a very accepting atmosphere and provides an encouraging space for students to learn and grow. I feel as though I've really found a place to fit in here and I believe others feel the same way. Students and professors alike are very friendly and eager to help each other. The campus itself is equally pleasing and its natural beauty is probably my favorite thing about Lyon.

It is a very good college to attend. There are times that the campus can get very loud. This is mostly during the big parties on campus (Like the Halloween Bash, or Chapel Walk). There are only about five big parties a year, so other than that it is a very quiet, college. The Academic variety is fantastic. Everyone can find something.

It brings a home feel to it by having hospitality and generosity that you don’t find at most schools, while accompanies by a great education program with dedicated teachers and students who want to learn. Lyon has an amazing reputation for placement after college which is a wonderful appeal.

It's pretty okay. We have all walks of life here. Lots of athletes, I am one of them. The teachers are very nice and really care about thier students. We have some new professors and clubs that make it see that the school is always changing and transforming into something better.

A year ago, I never would've imagined I would be attending Lyon College. I received the congratulations letter and stuck it in a drawer with all the other colleges I had applied to "just in case", certain I would never look at it again.
Now, I can't believe I had been considering other schools. Lyon is a small, private institution in an otherwise nondescript town, a far cry from the huge universities in giant college towns that I had been planning on. Sure, this means that extracurriculars aren't as diverse as they are in places with thousands of students, and you have to drive a bit for real activities.
However, it also means that everyone here bonds quickly; I have a variety of friends from all different walks of life, and everyone is happy to help in classes, clubs, and the sort. There is an amazing Scottish heritage behind this school that is celebrated often, in day to day life and in special events. Maybe this college experience isn't as loud as it is at larger schools, but it is just as proud, and I am ecstatic to be here.

I love Lyon. It became my home away from home. I intend to stay in Batesville after I graduate in a few years because the people are amazing, the college is wonderful, and the state is beautiful. The transition is made easier because o the staff and the student bod, both of whom are so welcoming to everyone.

Lyon College is a nice place if you're not looking for a huge school. The students are all very nice and it can feel like a large school at times with the small atmosphere. There's hundreds of groups on campus to partake in such as band or sports. With the growing sports scene at the school, we've become a lot of school spirited instead of only worrying about the next exam. Many of the students at the school are serious about their future and you find very little people who try to bring you down.

The college is overall very nice. I enjoy the food, the classes, and the students. There are definitely some flaws, but they are minor things. For instance, the classes are difficult to understand because most of the teachers are not from the US. Also, the tuition is very, very high. And the printers and WiFi never seem to work. That could be changed, but overall, it is a fairly good college.

The professors are great...for the most part anyway. There a couple that not everyone likes, but this is probably because they are just in the shadows of truly amazing people who will go out of their way to help you learn and really make you feel at home here.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Lyon College is 74%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Dear High School Self,
You have what it takes to succeed in college, RELAX. However, your people-pleasing habit has to go. You are very capable of doing whatever it is they want you to do, but you need time for you. Don't worry about what mom and dad, fellow students, or the faculty will think. They understand! You were not put on Earth to be Superwoman. Doing all those extra projects aren't really going to help you win any scholarships. Stick with what you are passionate about.
Have time for yourself, and thank Mr. Sours for everything that he'll do for you.
Remember that time management is very important, and your goal is pharmacy school. Biochemistry degrees are not achieved on desire alone.
Love yourself, respect yourself, and be honest with yourself. You'll know what you need to do and when.
Love,
Christie
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known that I would have to study a lot harder than I did in high school. I was told that I would but I did not know it. I'm really having to push myself sometimes. I know it will all pay off in the end though.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I believe the worse thing about my school is the cafeteria. It's good on some days. There's not a big variety to choose from and there is a lot of carbs. Most students are trying to be healthy and it's hard to eat healthy in the cafeteria. The salad is not always fresh. The juice is sometimes very watery. The food has no flavor sometimes or is just really dry or cold.
My classmates are a group of people focused on academics, who also want to acheive in other areas, whether it be spiritually, on a sports team, socially, or musically.
Well I knew it for the academia. The school is pretty tough, definately not a party school. I remember when I was enrolling that I was really impressed with numbers like 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} acceptance rates into law schools. Lyon is tough, really hard work but gives a major advantage.
The best thing about Lyon would have to be the proffessors. Since the school is small your professors actually know you. They all care about what is happening to you, they really don't like to see students fall behind, so they push and encourage and provide all the help they can.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Lyon College is a great institution for students to learn about any of their interests through a riggorous academic program and explore themselves while interacting with the other students in a community based atmosphere.
The academics at Lyon College are challenging. The students who put the work in to make good grades are completely prepared for graduate school. The professors are fantastic and do everything they can to prepare the students for the class and their future after Lyon College.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The sororities and fraternities are popular student groups. They help the faculty and campus all the time. The sports teams are popular groups as well, which includes intramural sports.
The class sizes are small. The professors interact with the students to keep the students attention. The professors are often very enthusiastic to keep the students intrigued and remember the information better.
A student who enjoys a smaller, tight-knit community and who doesn't mind being in a small town. Lyon is very supportive of student athletes and the professors are very giving and involved. It's a great place for students who want to be really involved in campus life.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Of all things I have to say about Lyon College, it is the talent of my proffesors that I tend to brag on the most. Though all are exceptional staff that teach in a way that goes far beyond:good enough," the man who I especially admire is Dr. Terrell Tebbets. This a professor that students request not with intention of getting an easy A, but quite the opposite. Dr. Tebbets is the example of what Lyon faculty are all about. He teaches with passion and intelligence. He grades hard, but with justice. He makes one be their best.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
