I was told about this school by my high school teacher. I also took a virtual tour for this school and I fell in love with the architecture and its buildings. This school looked like such a calm and relaxing school, and I plan to go to this School when I graduate high school!!

I do not attend the university yet, but I am so excited and ready to start my journey as a college student and I think U of A is the right fit for me. There is a lot of involvement with student life and education, and all the professors want you to do is succeed.

I had a great time at UARK and learned a lot! Professors in my major area were always accessible and assisting students with finding opportunities for jobs, internships, study abroad, and other opportunities. I never had a bad experience with professors for other required academics. The School of Art is specifically generous with student funding (based on applicant merit and work ethic) for academics, study abroad, etc. due to grants. Something is happening every night at UARK when classes are in session - a lot of extracurricular opportunities and clubs for literally everyone. Comedy events, movie nights, gallery openings, etc. I only ate on-campus as a freshman in 2015-2016 but the food was always decent and many options were available. I know campus dining and housing has improved a lot since I've been gone, although costs have also risen. You can make friends easily here if you show up for activities and there is usually something fun to do in NWA (besides dickson, lol.) Campus is also beautiful in the fall, and it's fun to explore. The biggest downside to UARK, for me, was honestly parking my car. It's annoying and expensive. I'm glad I went, and as a teacher, I recommend UARK to my students now.

The campus culture is undeniably centered around athletics and Greek life, which can create a sense of exclusion for those outside these circles. The Greek-oriented culture can foster cliquishness and superficiality, alienating those who don't conform to these norms. The university also caters primarily to white, wealthy students, and fails to provide equitable opportunities for all. As a predominantly white institution (PWI), UARK still has a long way to go in diversifying its student body and fostering inclusivity. The university enjoys one of the most loyal fanbase in all of college sports. However, the emphasis on sports sometimes overshadows academic priorities. The academic program that the school does prioritize is within the Sam Walton School of Business but then they often sideline other academic programs, neglecting the richness of interdisciplinary education. Additionally, issues such as inadequate parking accommodations and mandatory on-campus housing for freshmen, regardless of financial circumstances, highlight areas where improvement is needed. Overall, while the University of Arkansas offers strengths in certain areas, it must address systemic issues to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all students.

  10. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

There is not a lot of diversity race wise, and most of the campus activities circle around fraternities and sororities. I used to be in a sorority, and I believe that both fraternities and sororities on this campus have an unrealistic view of how much a student can handle, meaning they fine you money if you dont make social events, even if you were studying for a test. This is why I am no longer in a sorority and dont agree with anything they stand for.

  19. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

I believe there is a stereotype that UofA students spend most of their time partying at the local bars/pubs nearby the campus. However, most of the students I have come into contact with have expressed their eagerness to do well in school and how hard they work at keeping their grades up. It is a small population that constantly parties instead of taking their classes more seriously.

  20. Why did you decide to go to this school?

I have some family in Fayetteville which made a difference for sure but the campus is probably the greatest factor outside of family that helped me pick the U of A. The second was the architecture program which is great and that was my original major.
