I, personally, am very thankful of SCC. I did not attend college right after high school because I needed space from traditional schooling and time to work on myself. In January of 2019, three years after finishing high school, I started to think about my college journey. I did not want to go to a four-year, and instead heard about the transferring process. I enrolled in Shoreline CC in April of that year and I have enjoyed it ever since. I love that I can go at my own pace and work in the career area that I want. The campus is great, the administration is great, and the people are thoughtful.

Jessica - 05/26/2020

This is my first year at Shoreline but so far it has been great. I came into Shoreline blindly not knowing how to register, what I needed, how to get aid, or anything else. I received help very quickly and receive follow up often from advisors and staff even when I don't need it. They've made me feel comfortable and ready to learn even though I'm much older and nervous about being in college they help put my mind at ease.

Virginia - 02/05/2020

Shoreline Community college keeps the campus clean; however, people are very single minded and not accepting of others. The teachers strongly express their opinions and grade harsher if you have a different opinion. The campus is gorgeous, but people's open-mindedness need to change in order for the campus to be more accepting.

Martika - 12/14/2019

Very diverse and welcoming. A lot of the professors, advisors are very helpful and very encouraging.

Ivan - 10/06/2019

Beautiful campus and very friendly students, professors, administrators, support staff! Grounds are well maintained. New dorms have been built and are set up and ready to go. Class sizes are smaller and that allows more 1 on 1 interaction between student and professor.

John - 09/18/2019

I enjoy it so far the people are very friendly and it’s a great group and jointed community. The school spirit is very nice and the diversity is very interesting.

Romaine - 06/09/2019

Shoreline Community College is an excellent school if you are starting college for the first time, or if you are a returning adult like I am. Class sizes are manageable, and there are a lot of professors who care about doing an excellent job for the students. The resources are there for students to be successful if they put the time and effort into it. The only major complaint about the school is parking. If you arrive at the school after 8:15 am on weekdays, good luck finding a parking spot! However, they do offer shuttle service to and from the school from an off-site parking lot.

Stuart - 05/31/2019

My opinion of this school is fairly good. I don't have anything negative to say about Shoreline, but I don't have a great deal of positive things to say, either. I am a running start student, as well, so I don't have the greatest grasp on the things that happen at campus, just the bare minimum. Still, in my limited experience at this school, I would give it a "thumbs up" overall. I would like to take a moment to talk about some of the positives that I have experienced at Shoreline. One big positive is the laid back nature of the school. The teachers are relaxed, and allow their students to learn at their own pace. They are also very open, and frequently remind us of times when we can come to the office to speak with them. Personally, the office hours aren't that important to me, as I am more of a individual learner, but I imagine these hours could be very beneficial to other students. Another thing that I found to be beneficial was how the teachers utilized the facilities. In my classes, we often utilized the library, gyms, and computer labs to further our education. Overall, I think the biggest benefit of shoreline community college is the low cost. While I am not actually paying for my classes, thanks to running start, I have examined the costs, and they are very reasonable. I think that it is a excellent institution, and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a higher education.

Josue G. - 02/21/2019

It is the best school when it comes to the Automotive program! It is such an honor to participate in a professional learning environment. My experience there has been great, the students and the staff make the learning experience unique and encouraging in order to prosper.

Emily - 10/22/2018

I love going here. From the moment I started I felt accepted and encouraged to do anything and everything I could. They are extremely proud to be a community college even being surrounded by two huge Washington State Universities. I am inspired by all of the choices in degrees and paths we offer, and continually recommend Shoreline to everyone I know who wants to further their education.

Kathryn - 09/26/2018

My overall opinion is that I'm very happy that I can be intellectual with a lot more people now, and the faculty clearly care about their work. The only thing I would have to critique is that most of the time teachers let their ideologies be known to the class, even if doing so has distracted from the topic at hand, or even leads them on a tangent. I have been scowled at by students while I quietly read the my religious texts near the back row, while I never told anyone about my religion and I never brought up my theology as that tends to be frowned upon.

charise - 05/30/2018

shoreline is easy to learn. people are friendly. campus is kept very nice. i am a new student and have had a lot of help with enrollment and financial maid as well. it made things a lot easier for me to sign up for school. now i am a new student and ready to engage in the Shoreline Community.

Bel - 06/05/2017

While it has its ups and downs, Shoreline Community College has changed my life for the better. As a Theatre Arts major, I often hear skeptical remarks about how I can't make it or how it's not a great career choice and how I should probably do something else with my life. However, at Shoreline, no matter what classroom I'm in, I'm met with encouragement and happy tidings when I tell my teachers what I'm planning to do with my life. This is an encouraging and wonderful school. I highly recommend it for whatever kind of career you're pursuing.

Ashlee - 05/29/2017

Shoreline Community College is great. It has a true air of learning, and everyone around is eager to help a student in need. The professors clearly know the material they are teaching, and are enthusiastic to help the students who ask for assistance, and will willingly make plans outside of office hours if there are students who are really struggling. The campus is gorgeous, with lush greenery and plenty of art sculptures around. The counselors are there to help, and more than than, everyone has a true desire to provide you with the best college experience.

Kintla - 05/26/2017

Shoreline is a great place to start out your college career. It is a great positive environment to meet new people and learn more about yourself. There are many inspirational professors that are readily available to engage with their students in and out of class.

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Shoreline Community College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Shoreline Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Taking a quarter off to travel was a very good idea. I learned a lot about myself and felt much more ready for college life after traveling. Make sure you know what life at the college will be like before you enroll there. Be careful about 4 year universities, you can do the first two years at a community college for a lot cheaper. Talk to advisors! They are there to help you and they can be a lot more helpful than you think. Don't try to do things on your own when there are perfectly good people getting paid to help you. Stay confident! It's just school.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

For me, the worst thing about my school is the commute. Shoreline is mainly a commuter school, so I have to drive awhile to get there. Also, parking is terrible. Academic wise, I love shoreline and have no complaints. Like any school it has its funding issues, but that is understandable.
