I think Towson is ultimately a great school for me. While there are moments where I feel frustrated, in the grand scheme of things I have enjoyed my time there so far. I feel like there are a wide variety of people on and around campus, so everyone has the chance to find people they mesh well with. I also feel like the quality of education is great, and attending classes of all disciplines has helped me become a more curious, introspective, and overall well rounded individual.

I like Towson University because it truly is an experience equivalent to a small college. The students are very close knit, the food is quite exceptional, although the dorms can be slightly better. Other than that, I enjoyed my time there and wish for others to as well.

My opinion of Towson University is that it is a very safe and diverse school with a little bit of something for everyone on campus, I am excited to attend this fall for nursing and finish my education in the newly built nursing building, and live on campus for the first time and get the true on campus college experience, I often visit my friends that currently attend and attend the activities with them and i feel very included.

It has been high up on my list for as long as I can remember and I’m glad that my experience meets my imagination. it is a very diverse campus and there is room for everyone regardless of your interest. Also the surrounding town area is really well curated to college students and is within walking distance. overall I would recommend this school for anyone looking a flexible environment with ample amount of classroom support.

Towson University is a decent college, with lots to offer in a plethora of different forms. The housing is nice and convenient, with many shops nearby in case you need food late at night when the dining halls are closed. The food is okay, but several students find hair or plastic in their food in the dining halls occasionally. Staff is fairly friendly. There are not many clubs or organizations that aren't based on race or religion.

Towson University is a university that strives for diversity, inclusion, equality, and equity. Towson's Housing & Residence Life is consistently developing curriculums to not only improve experience for residents, but for Resident Assistants who frequent and manage the halls, and Community Center Assistants, who engage in checking guests in to the building to ensure safety throughout campus.
Towson's academics are superior, with consistent developments to majors, and consistent conversations about new majors, to increase the academic and professional diversity on campus.
Towson's Dining Services are in need of work, but in recent years, Towson has jumped for an overhaul of dining spaces, and the contractors that we get food through, to offer the best experience possible for students.
Overall, while these are select examples, Towson University is a University that I would recommend to anyone, as there is always room for growth, and a space to have your voice heard.

My first year I lived on campus.
The dorms and communal spaces were alright, relatively clean and put together. If something broke, maintenance was pretty quick to fix it. The only glaring issues I had were mostly my suitemates and the other people on my floor.
In terms of classes, most of my teachers have been accommodating and provide enough resources to get a good grade in the class.

Towson University is hard to describe in just one word. It is a diverse, educational, and overall very interesting experience. There are many different groups of people who are all encouraged to share their ideals and express themselves. There is everything from sports to the arts and one will most definitely find somewhere they fit in. Although the area may not be the safest at times, it is heavily monitored by police and honestly just like any other city.

Overall a fantastic college to go to and learn from. Everything you can want from a college is here and is within your grasps. From education, sports, other activities that you can enjoy and join in on. While also have access to shopping close by and the rooms on campus are nice as well as places off campus to live too.

My first reaction to being on campus my freshman year is that it’s not as black and white as people make it seem. You can find a variety of culture groups on campus. The campus is nice and because youre in a suburban area, theres malls in walking distances , good places to eat. If youre a social person, theres almost always something going on whether it be a debate or some type of club. From my experiences and talking to others, professors are engaged and are always willing to help out (during their office hours). Depending on what classes you take your class may only fit around 30 other students allowing you to freely ask questions and be attentive in class. I now my largest class had about 28 students. And the teacher was very proactive. Im going to say it now…yes finals week can be stressful but my best advice to you is do one or 2 subjects a day to not overwhelm yourself with the studying.

Towson University is an amazing college with so much diversity, and plenty of opportunities to grow and find yourself and better yourself to do what you love. I’m currently a freshman, and let me just say, if you enjoy friendly interactions and putting yourself out there, Towson is the college for you! Towson University is a type of place that gives you an opportunity to think, and even learn outside of the box, contrary to a boring way of learning and speaking your mind. There are tons of organizations, clubs, and sports to join and amazing campus facilities and foods! I am a commuter but as far as I know about the dorms, they’re all pretty good, and very communal in a sense that you feel safe and get along well with your neighbors.
There are also plenty of events to attend if you like a little bit of nightlife, and the events themselves are pretty safe, but as far is it goes at any college, always stick in groups and make sure someone knows where you are. If you are considering Towson, go for it! You wont regret your decision. :)

As it is my first year at Towson university, so far so good, I have not really had any problems what s ever. It has a good community, and making new friends wasn't as hard as I expected. I am loving the new life, and adjusting pretty well on campus away from home. I do think there are some problems, that the school needs to overseer. Like the cost of getting new supplies, and school store prices are way too high and they should be cut down.
Isabella - 06/26/2021
Despite being a big school, Towson has a small town feel which was comforting and fun at times, although it also felt clique-y at times. However, I wouldn't trade my experience there for anything in the world. I met some of my best friends there, and I had some professors that inspired me to pursue the career path that I'm currently pursuing. I am grateful to Towson, and if I had to choose a university again, I would choose Towson in a heartbeat.
James - 04/09/2021
Don't go to Towson if you're looking for anybody that works there to be helpful. I've had two advisors, neither of which email me back when I ask any questions and my first advisor screwed up my class plan a few times before she got it right and pushed my grad date back a full year. Financial aid is no different, I've went to them about a question and got 3 different answers from 3 different people. Overall, Towson is a very poorly ran school that offers little to no help to its students. Only good thing about the school is the bars uptown.
Kimia - 10/23/2020
Towson University is a liberal arts focused school with an excellent and involved student government. The University provides so many opportunities for us to network and create friendships. The college of liberal arts, as my major falls under this branch, has helpful and proactive professors. Professors and students alike are driven and care for the well being of others. My only complaint would be how close the university is to a row of bars and the constant construction work on campus. Students banter from the construction, calling Towson “detour university”, because of the wide presence of workers and equipment.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Towson University is 73%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Work on your study habits because they will be important in college. On a more realistic and general note I would practice using an alarm clock more effectively and getting up early so actually getting up for classes would have been easier.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
Towson has atleast one person from every ethnicity, is friendly and commuter oriented but is accepting way more students then classes are offered which is starting to become a problem during registration time.
Everyone should attend this school. Not only is everyone excited to be here, but the friendships you make will last forever and the education you receive is irreplacable. Because of where the school is located, it is easy to find ways to have a good time while still keeping an academic focus.
The cost compared to the level of education students receive. It is fairly inexpensive to go to Towson (at least for in-state) and I think that students leave Towson with much more than just a degree. Most students work at least part time, so they know what the "real world" is like before they graduate from college.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Nothing. You got the information you needed about the school and campus life, so making the decision was easy and I was not disapointed in what I received.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
Parking, advising, and expensive food. It is difficult to find a decent parking space during the school day, and teh campus is really strict about parking tickets. A $75 ticket for a first time offense. The advising is not up to par. I know of many students who must stay an extra semester/year, due to bad advising. And the food is expensive.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The single most frustrating thing about my school, indeed all schools is a lack of funding availability for white males. I am financially secure by my own accord (I saved 80{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of those Army checks), debt free and attending school on the GI Bill. I've seved my country only to be discriminated against based on my gender and race. There are minority student unions yet I would be disbarred trying to start one of my own. The ladies get their own special orientation but where's one for the guys (to warn them about college girls for instance!)?
Towson University is very well-known for it's Education Program. However they also have other great qualities, such as the huge, 5-story library! Many of the academics, aside from Education, are also very respectable; such as the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, and many of their Liberal Art areas.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The psychology program at Towson is very strong. I worked with a woman who was an expert in her field and regarded as such around the world. I also minored in Theatre, and I have to say the community within this major would be difficult to replicate anywhere else. As well, our Theatre program was well run and funded.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A person who is interested in a more technical field of study such as engineering or a person who wishes to conduct research as part of their schooling should look at other universities as this one does not provide such oppurtunities.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
The only thing that I brag about when I talk about my school to my friends is that in my freshman dorm I only had to share a bathroom with one other person.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
There is said to be typical long island stereotype at our school and they are labeled as sorority members. Even though there are many long island students, it does not mean that they are "mean" girls. Besides this one stereotype I hear often, I think the school has a variety of "groups" where students will find their direction of where they fit in more.
Towson University, my school, is a very well rounded school. In my opinion there is a place for everyone. Whether you are into theater, sports, or greek life, we have it all! Towson is a huge school which I believe gives you many benefits, but at the same time there are many classes that have just 30 people, which gives an intimate feel so you won't get lost in the crowd. It is just the right size. People have a great impression of Towson University. The school is very well liked in the community and it is practically the center of the town. Towson is definitely a college town, with many fun activities and great hang outs. The administration has always been there to help, I have never had a experience where someone was not willing or just didn't have time to work with me. School pride is every where from Greek life to TU shirts and colors. But no worries if you are a grad student or no really into that there are many people who are just here for commuting. I have met inspiring teachers at Towson that had assured me that I am going into the right career. The only complaint that I have ever heard was when I was a freshman/ sophomore on campus everyone would smoke outside of the building, but now we are a smoke free campus which is awesome!!!
Classes in my department are wonderful. I am part of the Foreign Language department and I know most of the students in my classes and usually I have more than one class with them. My major is considered relatively small though. Larger major like Business you will not see this AS MUCH, but you may have 1 class the same as a student in the same major. Students who are in upper level courses study a good amount, as it should be because they are getting serious about their career and their passion. Freshman and Sophomores tend to study less and party a little bit more. But this all depends who you hang out with, there are some very serious freshman and sophomores who are all about academia, for instance the honors college. I love my major ( Spanish and Latin American Studies). I had the opportunity to go to Ecuador for study abroad. With every major at Towson, you have the opportunity to travel and study. We have an AMAZING study abroad program, and if you have good grades, you can surely find compensation, there are many scholarships at our school available to you. I do not really spend time with professors out of class, but I know people who have. Although I do have a great relationship with my professors many who I would consider mentors. The most unique class I have ever taken is Capoeira, Brazilian fight dancing. I am taking in currently and receiving three credits. The Arts departments is absolutely amazing and diverse, there are so many great classes to take that will keep you active and on the move.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
There are alot of sporting events to attend at Towson and they all usually have a good turn out. the one thing i would complain about in the dorms is that students don't leave there doors open for the most part. but this just means that you have to be proactive about going and meeting the people in your dorm and don't worry the other students in your dorm will be happy that you did. there are plenty of things to do all over campus and every year we have big events homecoming and tigerfest. these are both really fun events with great bands.
Where is the best place to get work done on campus?
The library is great and has multiple floors. Students can get so much done in this atmosphere due to the quiet floors or group floors - based on what you're there for. It's always beneficial to go here and they have great hours of being open and Starbucks is available in the front, which is always nice.
Where I lived, in one of the towers, they had nice size rooms to share with a connectif bathroom to another room. We never had an issue with the bathroom or privacy and it was a great place to be on freshmen year. Other buildings that I have went to seemed just as big if not bigger than my room. I never really heard complaints other than there was no air conditioning in a building but that building is now under construction so that will be fixed.
You will have every type of class at Towson, from big lecture halls, to intimate settings, to rooms set up like a business conference meeting. I love the diversity because each class has it's own style. In addition, they are small enough where you get to know the professor on a personal level, which is great for getting extra help.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
80% of students attending Towson University receive some sort of financial aid.
26% were awarded federal grants.55%received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
