Your insights about the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff reflect a mix of experiences that many students can relate to, particularly regarding housing and campus culture. Here's a breakdown of your observations:
1. **Housing**: It's concerning that you describe the dorms as having mold and unsanitary conditions. Adequate housing is crucial for a positive college experience, and these issues can significantly impact students' well-being and academic performance. It sounds like improvements in maintenance and cleanliness are desperately needed.
2. **Classes and Professors**: The experience in the classroom can vary widely, depending on the instructor. It's great that some professors are supportive, but the negative experiences you've had—particularly regarding communication barriers with foreign instructors—are important to highlight. Effective teaching involves not just knowledge but also the ability to communicate ideas clearly.
3. **Food Quality**: Consistency in food quality can significantly affect student satisfaction. Serving the same meals frequently can lead to a lack of variety, which might not meet the diverse tastes and preferences of the student body. It's understandable to look forward to special days when better options are available.
4. **Administration and Financial Aid**: It's unfortunate to hear about difficulties with financial aid communication. Financial support is crucial for many students, and a responsive financial aid office can make a significant difference in students' stress levels.
5. **Social Life and Greek Life**: Your observations about the social scene suggest that it may not feel as vibrant as expected. While it's great to hear positive things about the Greek organizations, it seems that many students are focused on graduating quickly rather than fully engaging in the college experience. This could be reflective of a broader trend in student attitudes and priorities.
6. **Overall Experience**: Your rating of 3.5 out of 5 suggests you see potential in the university and recognize both strengths and weaknesses. It seems you’re hopeful for improvements in housing, dining, and campus life to enhance the overall experience for current and future students.
Your feedback is valuable and highlights areas for improvement that could significantly enhance student satisfaction and engagement at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Engaging with student government or campus organizations to advocate for these changes might also empower you and your peers to help shape a better college environment.

Overall UAPB is good school, I enjoy the different things they do around the campus and how people are so friendly and love to start conversations with even if they don't know you. I enjoy the friends I have made since I been here and the different things that goes on around campus. I actually like the school more than I thought I was because of where I am from it's different from Georgia.

At The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, there is so much joy and laughter. We stand firm and sing our alma mater together. There is unity everywhere on campus and everyone works together. The professors are awesome and they teach you everything you need to know. The administration will work with you if you have any miscommunication problems and financial aid is there to help with any financial problem. There are many helpful resources on campus such as the Trio program, the writing center, and the student success center.

It is an overall pretty good school. The dorms and the housing could be better as far as cleanliness goes. The location isn't the best and there is not much to do around here in Pine Bluff, but I do look forward to being involved and spending the rest of my time here at UAPB.

Great friendly environment dedicated to helping students succeed. Some exterior improvements and overall mindset improvements regarding what happens in the university could be made. Majority of my professors are very dedicated to making sure we succeed, however there are a few that should reconsider their teaching styles.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB)is an outstanding institute of higher learning. Here we offer a plethora of opportunities for further development and growth. Student here are friendly and we are all like a family. It is a close knit family environment. Even though our campus is on the smaller side it is very easy to learn and become acclimated to. Our faculty is nice and interested in educating us and make time when we reach out for help. Class numbers are small so most teachers will know you by name and will notice when you do not show for class. I actually missed class one day and my teacher called to check to see if everything was okay. So our teachers really care about our well-being as well as our education We have a number of groups and student organizations that you students an join. We are D1 school and sports are important to us football and basketball games get the most attendance. We would love to have you here at UAPB so come and join the PRIDE !!

I love the school. I have no problems with the classes or teachers. The teachers are always willing to help and see any problems you may have. The home work is generally what we go over in class. Teachers do not always provide study guides but the test are normally over power points the teachers go over.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Just stay focused and remember what your there for.
The best thing I consider about my school is the ease of getting acquainted with it. The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is large, but its layout is quite simple, and it does not take long to get to anywhere on the campus. It can be quite frustrating to have classes that are all over the place, but my school is not like that at all.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is a historic black college. I am caucasion, and I feel like more white people should give this school a chance. I am reminded everyday that the white class will soon be in the minority. I feel if more whites interacted with blacks more, it would help the transition go a lot more smoothly.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Compared to the other schools that I decided to attend in my state, this university is a Historically Black College or University. It is apart of over 84 other colleges in the country that was developed to enhance the knowledge for the african american race. I think that my school is also unique because it treats the students like family and we are able to express ourselves more in out studies.
My school is actually best known for their fraternities and sororities. For some odd reason, it seems as though people want to pledge here and then leave. They are also known for their Nursing, Agricultural, and Education departments. I hear that the Education department is one of the best on campus. Our band is also known too. They are called the M-4 band. The Musical Marching Machine of the Mid South! We are also known for some of the speakers to come to our campus. This year, the ex-editor of Essence magazine came here and talked about empowerment!
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
That my school's finanical aid progaram is not as sufficiate. They try there best by helping the students get there things on time and make deadlines, but sometimes we would have to wait longer than we expect.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
I don't believe there is a certain person who can't attend this school because as I stated above it is very diverse. You will find someone with your intrest or where your from. The school will help you learn alot about your self from being around different people. So it all depends on your attitude toward it, but I believe anybody could succeed at UAPB if they wanted!!!
