Although it is not a big school, you can meet so many amazing people and the campus is beautiful. They even have a childrens school there which is amazing. There are so many oppurtunties for so many things and many ways to stay connected with them.

My opinion on Nicholls State University is to only go if you are okay with a small school everybody knows each other and everybody knows your business the staff only honestly don’t 100% care about your safety it’s like a 75% thing for them and it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere other than that it’s fine.

Nicholls State University is a small campus with close knit people. Your professors genuinely care about your education, and there are plenty of opportunities to get with your professors for help. Their ultimate goal is to help you thrive and become successful, productive members of society.

Nicholls State University welcomed me with open arms when I visited the campus. No matter what my question was, they were sure to answer it. The tour was in detail, and they made sure oncoming freshman felt welcomed and safe on campus. The food is amazing, too. I cannot wait to attend Nicholls!

Nicholls State University might not be for everyone but it sure is for me! Nicholls has classes small enough where personalized help by professors is easy and accessible. They could definitely increase access parking for commuter students but they make up for it with the wide variety of extracurricular activities and on campus facilities!

I would let anyone know who asks me about Nicholls that it is a good school to achieve your career goals. I say that because of how Nicholls set the students up for success. The library is open all day until 12 in the morning to study. There is a tutoring center and writing center that helps you in all subjects. Also, Nicholls is not too big on partying every weekend, so I don't have the "hard" decision between studying that night or going to the party most of the time. Even though we don't party a lot doesn't mean we are a boring school. There's plenty of things outside of being stuck in the dorm room like club-hosted events and sports games. For anyone that is considering Nicholls, go ahead and apply. They give good scholarships away too. ; )

Nicholls State University has a great atmosphere. It is very homey and comfortable. The on-campus housing is amazing and so is the food choices on campus. The teachers help out in the best way they can and work with you. They want the best for their students, and that energy keeps me going. The vibe is amazing!

Nicholls State University is a great campus, filled with intelligent students and professors who want to see all their students succeed! The overall campus is very clean, up to date, and class sizes are not over populated! Nicholls has always been my first choice and I am very excited to get to be a student at this great university and be apart of the Colonel Family! Go Colonels!

I am an English major with a concentration in Film Studies. I love the English department ans how the staff here seems to enjoy their jobs.
The teaher's are usually sticking by their office hours so it is not difficult to meet with them.
The art department is amazing, lots of motivated people (including the teachers).
There are many clubs and organizations offered, though they don't seem to get noticed as much as the sports.
I enjoy NSU... but I believe many people on campus have the notion that sports are more important than academics.
Some of the buildings are a bit outdated; that does include the smell, look, and names of quite a few.

While I do think that Nicholls State University is a college that exhibits great educational opportunities and many extracurricular activities. I do believe that this University lacks in two very important and up-and-coming social/economical experiences. The University is great at accepting students of color yet I feel as if they are not doing as much as they can to embrace them completely; this would be an amazing place to activate for equal rights and we are failing at doing so. My last concern is the lack of sustainability- sure, there are recycling bins on campus but by adding composting bins to the football stadium and dining hall, Nicholls would be making an impressive mark on the environment.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Nicholls State University is 82%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Take the time to learn to study. It's not possible to pass college classes by just showing up and paying attention.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about Nicholls State University is that is is mostly a commuter school. Nicholls does have multiple residence halls, but in the small town of thibodaux with many other small surrounding towns, many students live at home. With a school that is mostly commuters, there are always a low attendances at evening events held on campus. This is the worst thing I could think about.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Nicholls State University is an amazing and unique college. Due to its relatively small size students can bond with teachers, and not just be a number in a classroom. Whereas at some other colleges classroom consist of large numbers and you go unrecognized. The campus is also relatively small and has beautiful landscaping . The Campus Union provides great entertainment along with food and snack options if a student does not wish to go eat in the cafeteria. Nicholls is a wonderful college and has many wonderful benefits to offer students that wish to attend.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Before I came to Nicholls State University, I wish I would have known more about all the various opportunities available for me. I knew of a few clubs that I could be a part of, but I discovered so many during the first weeks of school that I had never heard of. I was especially interested in nursing/allied health groups because I am majoring in nursing. I only wish that I would have known about these groups before the semester started so that I could be a part of them.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
My school would be considered not large at all but not small either, but we do have alot of people who are eager to help you to succeed in your major and want to see you graduate.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
When I lived in the dormitories on campus, one night the fire alarm went off for no reason at 5 a.m., and that is the most frustrating experience I've had at my school.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I will brag about how small the school is. Also, I will brag about the ample opportunities for tutoring. Also, I will brag about the administrators at the school becasue they geniunely care for the students and are willing to help a student.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
If I was to say what kind of person should not attend this school I would definitely have to say someone who is not serious about their future. I've seen too many students on this campus who have flunked out of school because they never went to class and never studied.
