I absolutely loved the campus. It was very well-kept and clean even the morning after game day. The students and staff were very helpful and informative, I had a very pleasant experience with everyone that I encountered. There were great amenities and options available for all students. Like multiple food options, a recreational center, a postal service, a hotel for visitors, a free us service, free parking spaces, tons of student resources, and much more.

Louisiana State University is overall a great school. I feel welcomed when I am there. The campus itself is very beautiful. The environmental structure of the school itself is superb. The professors are very nice and made me feel welcomed and provided me with the information I needed. Overall great school.

It's a great school with great opportunities although there are some downfalls. The professors are absolutely splendid but some classes are so large that learning is struggle. With there being so many students, housing gets pushed to the side. Getting advising is also rather difficult. Once you get into the swing of things, being a student at LSU also becomes easier.

LSU is an ok school depending on what you're there for so your major and motives play a big role in how much you get out of it/enjoy it.
Cody - 06/01/2024
It’s a great university for my academics and extracurricular activity, playing football or running track. My father died before I was born. My mother was 6 months pregnant with me. My mother is a clerk at the local court house. Her minimum wage has barely got me through high school. I have a 3.0 Gpa in hopes of getting into a college.
Kelci - 05/13/2024
I loved my experience as a LSU student. There were things that could be better - like safety protocols or more access to extracurricular activities for those of us who are not as involved (mostly school and work). However, overall it was a great experience.
Denese - 05/11/2024
The university is actively engaged in research and scholarship. LSU has a vibrant campus life with numerous student organizations, athletic teams, and cultural events. The university's sports teams, known as the LSU Tigers, compete in the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference (SEC) and enjoy widespread support from students, alumni, and fans.
Delsey - 04/28/2024
I will say, they were an absolute life saver when I was having trouble with my own mental instability. the classes were fine and I didn't have issues with the staff. Though only thing is that sometimes I don't feel the safest, but they do try with campus police
Emma - 03/13/2024
I really like it. I felt very safe when I visited and it is currently my top choice for college. The campus was extremely clean and updated, with great facilities like the UREC Center. I hope to go here as it was a very nice college and community that I felt belonged in.

LSU is overall a fun school. There is a lot of focus on our sports teams, big football games tend to make you feel as though you are apart of something bigger. The whole city comes together to celebrate LSU, you will see many people from the state proud to have been apart of LSU. Greek life is prominent but plenty of people are not apart of it as well. On campus housing is hit or miss depending on which dorm or apartment you choose to live in. Plenty of affordable off campus housing options available. Classes tend to be large. LSU puts on events to let the students know they are appreciated. Overall, a good school!

Since I'm from South Louisiana, LSU is my state school and so far it has been pretty good. The sports culture here is everything and there is always something happening that encourages people to get involved. Despite sports being a huge attraction, the arts aren't left behind. There is a great art program and a gallery in our Student Union for all students to enjoy.
Kaitlyn - 06/16/2020
I think LSUi s a great school. As a minority I truly feel safe on campus and know that I have access to help if need be. The football games are fun, the. atmosphere is high energy, and LSU is just the place to be. As a black woman coming from a small town I was worried about the size of the campus, but I feel. safe and protected at all times. Academics is great and teachers truly do care.

My mom had went to LSU so I had to see what it is all about. I love LSU and the people who attend. Everyone is so helpful and there are so many resources! There are so many activities people can get into. There is something for everyone! The sports are amazing and I can say that it is great to be an LSU TIGER!
Brooklyn - 05/18/2020
This school wasn't my first choice, it was actually my fifth but I love the school with my whole heart and couldn't imagine attending and other university. The people are amazing and the culture is unlike any other. I am from Arizona, so moving to Louisiana was definitely a culture shock but everyone I've met has been very welcoming and I don't think any other school is better suited for me.
Jenna - 05/09/2020
LSU has been considered my home since I first started in 2016, and today, I'm taking my last final ever before graduating. LSU has given me so many amazing memories and people over the past 4 years, and has prepared me for the next step of my life: grad school!

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
The advice that I would give students about finding the right college is to really look into their personality. Each college has something unique to offer to that student. People aren't made from cookie cutters, so they aren't all the same. What might be the best college to one is the worst to another. Look at every aspect and make a good decision. Don't rush it.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The financial aid office is nearly impossible to navigate. I've been over there many times. Not only do they keep moving the office, most of the "counselors" are student workers. I have been here four years and have only talked to a professional financial aid counselor once.
The best thing about this school to me, is the school spirit when it comes to football. The LSU football team is supported well by the students. If I could change anything about this school it would probably be the allocation of funds towards the football team being used for other educational things. The school is the perfect size. You can know enough people to not know everyone. When people hear that I go to LSU they are very excited, Especially because in Baton Rouge LSU is the college to attend. I spend most of my time on campus in the student union, this is where most people spend their time. Socializing and associating with others. The school's administration is excellent, but sometimes you have to know the right person to go to with certain problems seeing as the campus is so large. As I stated before the school's pride is at an extremely high level.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
It has a really great atmosphere. The people are really friendly and it has good Southern charm. The campus is also really beautiful - I think that's what surprised me most. There are tons of trees and nice courtyards that you can study in. The buildings look really nice, too. If you're into sports this is definitely the place to be, but it also has what I'm looking for in quality education. I've had a really great time here.
If you want a professor to know your name, then most times, you have to sit in the front row of a classroom consistently answer questions or make yourself known in the classroom. Classes are very large sometimes but sometimes, classes are less. My favorite classes would have to be my Political Science classes because of the debates and discussions. Students study as much as they want to depending on your learning ability. Also, how much you study depends on the difficulty level of the class. We have many intellectual conversations outside of class concerning previous class discussions, abortion, the death penalty and other serious debates, even some concerning politics and economics. I am a Political Science Major and a Business Minor, which is why the Political Science classes are my favorite. Getting into LSU was fairly easy for me. Easier than I thought it would be. You only need a 22 on your ACT with a good highschool grade point average. Not only is the education at the school geared toward getting a job, it helps you while you are still in college to gain internships.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
In attending Louisiana State University, I have learned the importance of having my inner motivation to set goals and achieve them. At a school as large as LSU, the numerous opportunities can easily overwhelm and confuse students. Therefore, students without a drive to actively take advantage of such opportunities should not attend LSU. Undergraduates that depend on a smaller community of professors and students for support should not immerse themselves in an environment in which individuals must be independent and self motivating.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I had known how importnat it was to attend every single class. I wish I had been a little bit better at getting myself out of sticky situations.
A person who is determined to do what it takes to make their life dreams come true, to find out who they are and what they beleive in. This person should know their priorities so they can distinguish between work and play. This person should be social and fun because they would fit right in with every other student as well.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about my school is that it is primarily concerned with sports, particullary football. Although football does single-handly bring in an enormous amount of revenue for our school, other areas of our school need a little more attention, such as our dairy science program and buildings. LSU could try to give recognition and attention to other academic areas and extracurricular activities.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
