12/17/2024As an Interactive Media student at Bradley University, there is much I can speak on when it comes to that program specifically. However, I would also like to take the time to delve into experiences, opportunities, and considerations that other students may have outside of that specific program.
General review:
For starters, I have to say that I adore the fact that Bradley is a small campus. It makes it easier to get to classes, it helps me connect more easily with students, and the smaller class sizes are excellent for one-on-one learning. The small campus also helps with getting on-campus jobs since there are less students to compete with, yet a multitude of opportunities. Speaking of jobs, the Smith Career Center is one of the best career centers I have ever seen in my life, and they are always incredibly helpful with job fairs, internships, part-time outlooks, email notifications, interview prep, general advice for attire, and any other career questions, comments, or concerns you may have.
Additionally, the local Campus Town area right across the street has a breakfast place, a Starbucks, a Boba Tea Shop, Chinese Cuisine, Pizza, CVS, and the Bradley University Police Department, who have always been very kind and even offer Coffee with a Cop mornings, so you can speak to them directly. I always found this environment to be a great way to go out with friends without needing to have a car your first year.
Lastly, I want to emphasize the Extracurricular Opportunities offered by Bradley. There are over 250+ organizations, and new clubs are being created every semester by students who think of other ways to engage themselves with their community. Bradley's clubs seriously helped me get out of my shell, and I recommend their extracurriculars to anyone interested. Students are always excited about their clubs, so if you are an incoming student, look at Bradley's website and clubs page. There are emails you can contact of students who are incredibly passionate about what they do.
Specific to the Interactive Media Department:
I have to admit, I was nervous at first about pursuing a career related to Video Games, because it can be intimidating and sound a little silly to the grandparents. However, for any student considering pursuing Video Game Design, Bradley University is absolutely the school you want to attend:
- The professors all have professional experiences.
- The faculty loves to talk about their work, so you can even just stop into their office hours to talk about the things you love!
- You are always working on projects that help you build your portfolio.
- Networking is of high-importance, and the faculty teach you about resumes, portfolios, LinkedIn, and always advertise internship opportunities.
- There is always a community there to support your interests and dreams.
- Bradley University hosts a showcase every year where students can highlight projects they worked on.
- Bradley encourages going outside of your comfort-zone and trying new things. One group last year made a video game by building a fishing rod remote from scratch!
Ultimately, Bradley has a small and close-knit community where everyone can be engaged in anything they enjoy. The clubs range from fencing to nursing to crocheting, and the classes have lively discussions that make time fly by like it was nothing.
Again, I spoke as an Interactive Media major, so my lived experience in Bradley is unique to me, but everything stated about general Bradley environments as well as the specifics to the Interactive Media Department are entirely things that I firmly believe in, and I appreciate Bradley University for everything it has done for me as a student.

06/05/2024it is a really good school, but with the recent issues they are suffering from it can stand to improve a lot. However, beyond the fact of improvement with the people in charge of budgeting their spending, it is one of the best schools to be involved and to be apart of.

08/29/2020I think the academics, classes, after-class activities, and facilities are very good. Sometimes the surrounding area can get a little rough but overall, this is a good school. another thing is, the campus is constantly changing and adapting to new things presented to it so, that's a great thing in my opinion.
