Colorado State University-Fort Collins Top Questions

Describe the students at Colorado State University-Fort Collins.

Meg

Most students don't car what they wear to class. One time a kid in my speech class went bare foot. But mostly students wear comfortable clothes unless its Rush time or something like that. And I love how relaxed everyone is because I don't ever have to worry about what i'm going to wear.

All different types of students interact. I don't see any place at CSU where someone of a minority feeling out of place.

I think that most people would feel accepted at CSU we do not really have a majority of one kind of person. I think that we have a good mix of everyone from rich to poor and also diffrent parts of the country.

I would say that CSU is a very diverse campus in terms of the student body. Here you will find not just people from all over the country, but also people from all over the world. For example my roomate is from South Korea. I would say that the student body is semi-diverse. Racially I do not believe that it is real diverse, because the vast majority of the students are caucasian, but in beliefs our body is extremely diverse. Their are fraternities, sororities, Christian groups, and basically groups involving anything that appeals to multiple people. I would say that financially most of the students are sound, but not all. For example without financial aid I would not be able to attend CSU for lack of funds, but other kid's parents are paying their way straight through. I also would say that our students are outspoken on most issues involving politics and religion, because their seems to be much controversy in that area.

I feel like CSU has a diverse group of students. All of the students I have met in classes, dorms, sorority, and on campus all have different interests and opinons that I find to be cool and rather interesting. However, CSU is not very diverse culturally. I realize that we have many different races, but not a large number. I can not say I know much about the fiancial backgrounds of our students, but in my experience I think that most are either in the middle class or they are wealthy. I don't mean extremely rich, but they can afford to go to CSU without student loans.

I think the student body is pretty diverse. True, it's mostly Caucasian, but other than that there are all kinds of people. A lot of kids from out of state come here so they can snowboard more, but they're a diverse group in themselves. I've never felt out of place, and I can't figure out anyone who would. Everyone's fairly tolerant on each others' views of life, but sometimes it can get a little out of hand when you pair some of the really stubborn, loud people we have here with controversial topics.

There are a lot of ways to get pluged into CSU, you just have to go out on a limb and find what interests you.

I have one friend who is African American, two Asain, and one of Mexican/Spanish decent. None of them seem to struggle at all as far as making friends and being social goes. I've never seen any racism in my classes. As far as dress goes, I'm laid back and like to wear sweats and a tank top, but many girls wear short skirts and high heals. Jeans are the most common with whatever top. Usually hoodies. Guys range everywhere too, although again jeans are the most common. Nobody cares how everyone else dresses unless it is something obnoxious. Money-wise students are all across the board. I had a freshman roommate who paid for absolutely everything so she had loans and a job. I now have a roommate who gets everything from her parents and instead volunteers and focuses on school work.

CSU doesn't have the most diverse campus in the country. It's a fact. However, I would say that, it's a pretty accepting place. If you don't stand around trying to make a big deal about your differences, neither will anyone else. Many of the students are from Colorado, but I've had friends from Canada, California, Minnesota, you name it...
