My overall opinion of queens college is that it provides a fantastic education for those that want to learn. Of course there are going to be a lot of difficulties along the way but there are always people, either friends or faculty that would lend a helping hand. It isn't even the course's teacher available. You can go to the teacher you're comfortable with and have them help you.

My program (History) is wonderful, with attentive and passionate professors who truly make learning fun. I can't say much for the culture because, like many, I am a commuter student and mostly spend my free time off-campus. I've enjoyed the few extracurricular activities I've done through QC. Getting food on campus is difficult for me and I always have to pack a lunch as a vegetarian with a milk allergy.

I think it's a pretty good school. I can only speak on my classes and experience, but I've really enjoyed most of my classes and my professors have been really nice and helpful.

Queens College is an exceptional school. It provides quality and equitable education to students in any field of study. The professors and department are always to attentive to student needs and help out in the best way that they can. This is one of the reasons I have continued my graduate degrees at Queens College.

I think it’s outdated, especially the security. It’s in the middle of Flushing, so it doesn’t feel like it’s own entity. It just feels like it’s another thing just taking up space in an already cramped place. It doesn’t really feel like you are at college in all honesty. That could just be my own personal experience though. I didn’t enjoy it so that’s why I’m transferring schools.

I had a positive experience at Queens College. I obtained my bachelor's degree there and then I went back after working for a few years to complete nursing prerequisite courses. I always felt safe walking around alone during the day and even into the evening. There were a handful of professors I really admired and could tell they wanted their students to really learn. Overall, a positive experience and I would recommend to someone interested in going to college in Queens, NY.

I am loving the school, it is exactly how college should feel. Everyone is there to learn and the environment is energetic especially in the long lectures and the labs. I have a feeling I won't be dreading school and actually looking forward to coming and learning every day.

I like it. I was a student there during the summer and I enjoyed my time there. The professors and the staff members are very friendly and supportive, and the overall campus is lovely and very welcoming. I have no issues feeling safe, and I like that it is somewhat big. I'd recommend this college.

I’m a grad student and I really like the program. The professors are knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. The schedule is convenient and the professors answer student questions and concerns promptly. The tuition is a good value. I would recommend this school.

Queens College has a really nice campus and many facilities and on-campus events that all make campus life rather active. In general, the atmosphere on the campus is very chill; students can always be seen going around the campus whether to class or hanging out with friends or at clubs and events, and your privacy can still be maintained. For such a big campus, in no one place that I've been to so far, have I ever felt unsafe or in danger. There are plenty of nice food places on and around the campus, as well as a park next to it as a nice convenience, along with all of the sports fields that the campus already has. The professors all are very nice and friendly, and the classes, if you pay attention, are easy to manage. With its wonderful on-campus library to top it all off, I love Queens College and recommend students pursuing any major at all to join the Queens College community!

CUNY Queens College is a great school overall. For me personally, a STEM major, some professors are definitely way better than others, and most are very difficult and not the best at actually teaching. It is a New York City public school, so tuition is not very expensive which is great, but ultimately you do get what you pay for, so the schools facilities are sometimes outdated and not the best, especially compared to more expensive private universities. Also the guidance and advisement is terrible, and for the most part you are entirely independent as a student, which is not always a good thing. Despite this, for the price you can’t beat Queens College.

Good school, good campus, good teachers. Class sizes are small, lectures are split between small 'labs' and lecture hours. Campus feels really safe. The administration is annoyingly bureaucratic and getting assistance can sometimes require going through several people.

Queens College's diversity is quite obvious as a student walks on campus. Art and Science are significant as both subjects have their own buildings. Learning a language here, like how I learn Russian, are easier to learn. The campus itself is a good size and does not feel cramped. If there is a willingness to find solitude, there are several locations to sit and think alone. The library is also a major asset, but it does close at midnight. There are weekend classes that make scheduling feasible.

The professors and faculty are very down to earth and kind and approachable. The curriculum is also amazing and flexible. The campus itself is not my favorite due to its open areas but some people enjoy that scenery. There are not many stores available near by or transit options so it is limited in that sense. Other than that, it’s a great educational experience.

Queens College was a great college for me at the time. I was a commuter, going to grad school while working, and extremely busy. Their schedules worked well with mine. My professors were all very knowledgeable and accessible. I would recommend it highly.

I find Queens College to be amazing. It is the ideal school for me. There are all sorts of ethnicities and activities for everyone to participate in. The college organizes many events to encourage students to get involved.The school is not too large. The classes are a good size and there is help provided for everyone that might be struggling on a subject or lesson. The environment itself is relaxing. It is a clean campus full, of green and vibrance. There is a lot of school pride and a lot of support from all the school's administration
What is the stereotype of students at your school?
Queens college is a jew school, the girls are ugly, its a retirement center because there at elderly people taking classes there, its boring, its the school you end up in because you cant afford your dream university.

There is much more access to resources especially since it is near the city. It's in the middle of the city and the suburbs and you can go anywhere you want. The diversity is amazing because there are all types of people of different ethinicities and the best part is that they interact with you regardless of your background. It is a very friendly and resourceful enviorment.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
There is no single stereotype at our school. We are known for our diversity here in Queens. Most of our students are either from Queens or Long Island. The ethnicity of the student body ranges from Indian to Swiss, from African to Australian. The international student population is growing yet, and I'm sure it will continue to grow. There are, however, stereotypes within the specific groups of population at the school. The athletic jocks who spend most of their time in the gym, the loud music students who seem to live in the music building, the science geeks who are always on their computers in the lobby of the science halls, the orthodox Jews who seem to congregate in the Dining Hall, the rich Long Island boys who never learned how to work for what they want,... and the list goes on.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
A center for excellence. Queens College is the model of New York city. The majors are as diverse and ethnic as the student population. It is one of the best, if not the best city college in New York, hands down.
The cultural diversity at Queens College is one of the key reasons I attended. It was very rewarding to learn about so many different types of people from so many different areas of the world. The school is also located in a prime area in New York City, with access to just about everything a student would want or need without worrying about being distracted by what's going on around him/her. I was so pleased with my experience, that my mother actually attended after I graduated!
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
When I tell my friends about my school, i brag most about "Free hour". Free hour is from 12:15pm to 1:30 pm on mondays and wedendays in which no student has a class schduled. This period gives students the opportunity to get involved in campus activities, meet new people, and socialize with friends.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
What I consider to be the worst thing about my school is the lack of inspiration here. Because there isn't much school spirit there isn't much to be enthusiastic about while you are attending college. The time you spend on campus is time you have to spend on campus. There aren't many students, who don't live on campus, that choose to spend time other then class time on campus.
I really liked the location of Queens College and many of my friends were going there and I heard such good things from them. There are SO many on-campus programs that just want to help you excel and find internships/jobs and that was very appealing to me.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The only thing that I personally find to be a little frustrating is that there tend to be some distractions on campus. In addition, classes are for too long hours and too much readings in some classes. However, this is college and a part of life so nothing much to complain about.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
The kind of person who should not attened this school is someone who wishes to be involed within the campus and wishes to have a lot of friends. The school reminds me of high school- you go to class and you leave- if you were not involed with clubs or sports.
I'm not the sorority type of person... But those who are part of it seem to really enjoy. Other than them being really loud, I don't know much more about that.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
