The biggest two organizations on campus are GW Democrats and GW Republicans. The men's and women's basketball teams are really the only sports that get a majority of campus attention, though GW has many varsity, club, and intramural sports. Greek social life has been gaining ground in the past few years and is recruiting more new members with each passing year. Each year there is a Fall Fest and Spring Fling festival, in addition to a Fountain Day celebration. These events include headlining music acts and free food, in addition to "fairs" by student organizations. There are numerous student organizations including community service, common interest, and pre-professional Greek groups. Going out usually involves clubs for kids under 21 and bars for those over 21. Also, fraternity house parties are becoming more common, though the most popular venue for holding events is still a club in Foggy Bottom or Adam's Morgan.

There is so much to do both on and off campus. We have over 400 clubs and it's easy to start one-- voila! and your activity gets funding.
Greek life is very different than other schools. It's not exclusive and it's common to have friends in other fraternities or who are not Greek. It just gives another social option and way to make friends.
Thurston is legendary. Don't miss it as a freshman.

Involved: CDs - update members on debates, politicians, opportunities in the city. Alpha Phi - 111 women, very active on and off campus, involved and appreciated on campus, social, philanthropic and academic opportunities, fun and respected.
Dating Scene: I have always dated people outside of GW.
Closest friends: Through my sorority, the crew team, interesting comment they said in class sparked my attention...etc.
Tuesday: McFadden's, drunk, or at a Jazz bar in Adam's Morgan.
Each year: Pie and smore's on GW's birthday, midnight breakfast during exams, concert in Spring and Fall
Fraternities and Sororities: Even as president of my sorority, I still was incredibly involved outside of Greek life with a job, as a TA and with academics. It compliments people's lives, but it not an exclusive activity.
Last weekend: Dinner on Ustreet at a Belgian bar, breakfast in bethesda, movie in georgetown, walk around monuments with a date
Saturday night: Dance show, cultural event put on by an embassy, comedy club in China town
Off campus: Work at the Embassy of France, work at a bar, run to the Capital, eat, shop in Georgetown

Greek life is becoming more prevalent on campus as new chapters are added. Athletic events are not too popular, but the school brings in very interesting guest speakers. Closest friends are met through dorms and activities. People party almost every weekend, starting on Thursday night. Saturdays are good for dinner or movies.

Greek life is rapidly growing on the campus, although it is less intense than the fraternities and sororities at many state schools. The dorms are pretty active at night, on both week days and weekends. Clubs and Bars are very popular Thursday through Saturday year round. The school doesn't have a football team, so there aren't as many tailgates at GW as you might see at UMD or UVA. The school does try to provide the students with plenty of non alcohol related activities, although they are not always well attended.

On my floor, we all leave our doors open. Whether hanging out or just seeking a study break, I always make the rounds and say hi to everyone. A lot of time I don't come back for an hour or two. Play station, movies, gossiping, looking at pictures, and even once fondue have all been fun pursuits prompted by a random entrance.
