The heart of GW social life is the Greek community. It is growing, but still only makes up 20{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the population. They are one of the most active philanthropy groups and promote well-rounded individuals. The Greek community is also the heart of the social aspect of college at GW. There can be found the "normal" college students and activities.

GW hatchet is a great way to write, meet students, and get involved on campus and in the community. Theatre is pretty popular it certainly has a good presence on campus but it can be kind of an exclusive group. Acapella groups are common. I met my closest friends through my sorority and my room mates. GW is a big school but honestly sometimes it feels TINY. Everyone knows everyone or is connected. It's big enough that you meet new people all the time but they are almost always related to someone you know somehow. Greek life is a wonderful way to get involved as well, it's a good way to remain on campus as a lot of night life is off campus. I'm in a sorority and I love it. It's not too important but it's certainly present on campus and fun. People go out a lot but it's all about how much YOU want to go out. On the nights I don't drink I've gone to concerts at the kennedy center, gone on walks around the monuments, walked to georgetown for shopping, ice cream, dinner, or a movie. the best part of gw is where it's located there's TONS to do off campus you can go anywhere and do anything. I regularly go to museums and art exhibits, play games on the national mall with my friends, and ride the metro all over the city.

Greek life is decently big, and College Republicans and Dems is big as well. It seems as though everyone belongs to something and if you don't you're a loser. People also work a ton, and they go everywhere, some just hang out in their dorms, others go to all the clubs.

The school is extremely open freshman year, but from that point forward no one leaves there door open. As I am in a fraternity, my life is centered around greek life, but if you are not greek, you can live perfectly well. The parties are mainly at bars and clubs around the area.
Rebecca
Greek life is really big and is growing every year.
James
Greek life is awesome

Greek Life, Scene Kids, Clubbers, Athletes, and Randoms. Those are the major and most visible social groups at GW. Greek Life is growing at an exponential rate. As GW transforms its campus and builds its community, Greek Life will gain further influence and social space.
People utilize the monuments, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, and U-Street when going out.

Definitely rush, greek life is not very big but once you are involved in it, it seems like thats all there is. It is a tight-knit greek community.
Mark
Greek Life is great here and there are plenty of events or activities to participate in

Students in the freshman dorms leave there doors open, this is how everyone gets to know each other.
