Gonzaga is a wonderful school filled with compassion, leadership, and spirit. Gonzaga is a highly liberal Jesuit college that focuses on educating the whole person. From mind to body to spirit Gonzaga is here to help students pursue their passions and land well-earning careers in society. There are no fraternities or sororities on campus which allows for a strong knitted community that prides themselves on helping each other both inside the campus and out. I highly recommend any student who wishes for college experience full of community, strong education, and relationships to cherish forever.

Tobias - 03/22/2023

Gonzaga is a wonderful school to go to with a very close community. As a smaller school we have access to our professors along with small class sizes. There are tons of ways to get involved with the school and the community through sports, clubs, and extracurriculars. As a small school its great to have a strong basketball team because the whole school goes wild for games both in the kennel and at watch parties.

Analisa - 06/08/2021

Gonzaga has an extremely beautiful campus. It is perfect for taking walks in and enjoying the scenery. The campus is usually quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed the multiple places around campus to study at, including the student center, student housing buildings, and a Starbucks next to the campus. Overall, I enjoyed studying at Gonzaga University.

Gonzaga University FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Gonzaga University?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Gonzaga University is 67%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Dear Hyun, There was a time when I was completely satisfied with being smarter than the student sitting next to me. However, this does not necessarily make you a top student. Never judge your standards by the person next to you. Reach your potential pillar by personally measuring your abilities. Understand who you are and how much you can push yourself. Discover your inner discipline and resources and not just what it takes to beat your classmates. Pace, strengthen, and push yourself. Run your own race and focus on only your lane. Reach that finish line invigorated and proud instead of gasping to beat the runner next to you.

  3. Describe the students at your school.

Extremely driven and motivated, with the majority of them coming from private school backgrounds, and a rich family tradition of attending Gonzaga, but overall extremely nice, friendly, helpful and willing to share connections and resources.

  4. What is your overall opinion of this school?

One thing that I know is happening at Gonzaqga that I wish I wasn't seeing is that we are expanding too much for this city and for our Gonzaga community. It's starting to get harder to get into classes, find housing, and afford to go here. I heard one comment that Gonzaga is slowly becoming the size of a state school with the price of a private school. The small size of Gonzaga is what I was drawn to at Gonzaga.

  5. What is the stereotype of students at your school?

dumb white folk who come from villages and have no cue what theyre doing.. 5 year olds in their heads to top it and the professors treat you like youre 2. they feed you everything and make you memorize shit. its not about learning, its about swallowing and spitting it all out. complete bullshit!

  6. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Of course this isn't accurate, there are students like that, but it's not that common. I think a lot of students are here on scholarships and are gifted in that they are academically and/or extracurricularly and/or athletically excelled at what they do.

  7. What are the academics like at your school?

Coming into Gonzaga, I was really scared by the fact that I HAD to take religious classes (I come from a public school), but they have actually been really interesting to me. I've learned a lot about different religions and different aspects of faith in general; the selection of classes to take is very diverse. My most favorite classes are my science classes. Our science department is very selective and very rigorous as to who "survives" them. They really prepare you for your future in med-school, vet-school, nursing, dentistry, etc. I think the best part of Gonzaga (out of everything here) is that the teachers, staff, and personel are so involved. They know you by name, they encourage you to come talk to them, they are willing to answer any questions, etc. They realize that most of us are here by ourselves; they become our second family.

  8. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I'm not sure what the most popular ones would be just because we have so many! There's GUSR which works with special needs adults, Gonzaga Outdoors, Man's Best Friend which is a club that works closely with shelters in the area, GSBA which is the very comprehensive student government, and a lot of cultural groups as well. Really, everyone can find something their interested in within all the clubs and groups on campus.

  9. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The most unique thing was that there were classes available that were online but required reseidency programs that allowed for a connection with other students that may not have been made in the online classroom. The residency classes allowed for some very interesting relationships to build as well as for interaction that was not available in distance learning only programs.

I wish there was more diversity at Gonzaga . With more diversity I think people would be a lot more open minded and willing to accept different ideas and cultures. For the most part though everything else at Gonzaga is great!

  18. What kind of person should not attend this school?

The kind of person that shouldn't attend Gonzaga is one who is confident and accepting of the current situation and refuses to question the status quo. Someone who is afraid to ask why and to challange the commonly accepted path is someone who shouldn't attend Gonzaga. The community is one of the best characteristics of GU and the people who make up that community are dedicated to learning, to truth, and to ethical and moral living.

  20. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

The stereotype would be rich white kids, but honestly I know so many people who do not fit this mold. I know so many people who work multiple jobs in order to afford Gonzaga just because they love the school that much. It is true that there is a big caucasian population here, but I know that the administration is working on increasing diversity at the school.
