Missouri S&T gives phenomenal experiences to learn and grow in your desired field. Though it is an engineering heavy school, it has all the opportunities imaginable to get a respective minor or duel major in anywhere from the arts to business or law. The campus is beautiful, and the professors truly care for how you are doing and how your schooling is going. I see Missouri S&T as one of the most ideal schools you can attend for the STEM field in Missouri.

It is a very difficult school: high acceptance rate but low graduation rate. There are many transfer students and the majority of students graduate after more than 4 years. On-campus dining and housing aren't preferable, but there is affordable off-campus housing for the price of poor management and not having the benefit of campus security. The area surrounding the campus isn't the most appealing, but there are plenty of places to go hiking in the region. It is difficult to be without reliable transportation unless you live within walking-distance to campus.

Rolla is one of the most amazing and awful places you will be. The friends you make are lifelong but the classes are difficult to get through. There is plenty to do on campus with hundreds of clubs and organizations, you will always find something to do. It’s definitely known to have a nerd stereotype. But you can definitely find any crowd to hang around. While school takes a lot of time the ability to find outlets is always available and fun. Greek life is a great way to get connected along with meet several alumni. The school is very career driven and companies love to hire students. S&T was one of the best choices I’ve made in my lifetime

A drinking school with an Engineering problem. Student deaths from drunk driving or suicide are common. Alot of the time it does not feel like the school cares about the students, but is only out there to take the students money. Other classmates are fine and friendly, but a note able amount of the staff seem to be clueless or struggle to speak clear English.

Missouri University of Science and Technology, previously University Missouri Rolla and Missouri School of Miners, is a great school with lots of resources to succeed and a strong community. Many companies want to hire from this school and graduates do well in the work force.

I really like my school. It's very difficult, and I struggle with the course load sometimes, but it's one of the best engineering schools so that's to be expected. There is usually plenty of help available. I don't like the lower level classes as much, since they are very large and there is little individual instructor interaction, but once I got into the major specific courses the classes got smaller and the amount of help increased. Most of the professors are amazing. They have enormous knowledge banks and genuinely want to teach the students.

This school is a very good academic school. Another good thing is that you can work on campus in the area that you are interested in.
There are also many clubs. Clubs for math, physics, computer science, engineering, constructing… Many of them are very famous and being a member of one of them looks very good on anybody’s resume.
There is on office on campus that will help people write their resume so it looks professional, teach them how to interact during a job interview. They organize a huge job fair with more than three hundred companies twice a year! That is a great opportunity for anyone who needs a job or an internship.
Sports are not very popular at this school. Not many people want to come to watch teams play.
On the bright side, there are all kinds of offices on campus. There are very good conditions for studying. There are computer and study rooms in almost every building. In the library there are study rooms to be reserved for yourself with many technological advancements.

Missouri S and T is a good school academic-wise. The food plans are really good and give you a few options that one is bound to work good enough. There are also many design teams, so if there is any interest for a student to be around people with like minds and make things they have that ability. There are also many clubs for even more diversity among activities on campus.

I've been attending Missouri University of Science and Technology for the past year. So far I have been satisfied by all of my classes except for the College Algebra and Trigonometry courses. Throughout these two courses, I had to frequently teach myself most of the material. However, other classes covered their material well enough that I felt like I had a full understanding of the day's lesson each day. This school is not for people who believe they can pass by doing the bare minimum. You need to be fully devoted not only to your studies but also being an active student on campus. Many design teams and clubs were created to help students better understand and apply what they have learned from their studies outside of a classroom environment. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is even remotely interested in a STEM major.

Some of the best years of my life have been at this school. I absolutely love it here. It's difficult to get by sometimes, but it's totally worth it. I've made some amazing friends, I've enjoyed new experiences, and I've learned so much. This school had helped me to grow as an adult and I am grateful for the chance to attend.

It is a great engineering school that is difficult to stay in and has hard classes but provides everything you need to do well in class, graduate, and find a job after you graduate. It is also full of people who will help you and can be great friends.
Glad
Missouri University of Science and Technology is a great college for people who prefer a quiet and peaceful campus environment. Students are generally accepting and friendly, so I gained friends more easily than I expected. The professors, on the other hand, are very approachable and are usually open to discuss with the students. There are also plenty of accessible facilities and academic resources that students can utilize to help in their needs (may it be academic, emotional, physical, etc.)
Mirela
it is great school. The programs are great the teachers are great

Overall I would say there is great opportunity for success and achievement. But, some of the freshmen classes are known for unnecessary busy work and there are a lot of late nights. Drinking culture is very strong here and this school is know for it's alcohol usage. Professors keep office hours but even the professors do not always help, if you make it through, the opportunities for success are great. Additionally freshmen classes are what we call "weed out" classes and that they are unnecessarily busy but they prepare you to work hard. Remember they only want the best to be engineers so work till you are the best.
Kylie
Great and challenging school, sometimes too challenging. Greek life gets a bad rep but if your social at all you should go greek. We have a nerdy campus but also some real assholes too. You'll find people from all over and its not hard at all to fit in.
Missouri University of Science and Technology FAQS
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Missouri University of Science and Technology is 79%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Some of the best advice I could give myself is to practice time management. It's something so simple, but it can be the difference between dirty laundry and clean laundry or an A grade exam and a B grade exam. I had no idea how much time a single subject requires to fully grasp. Another thing I'd like to tell a younger me is to not stress about making friends the first week. Most people are generally friendly, and it's easy to get forced into a group with whom you have a poor connection.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The location of the town it's located in. The town lacks activities that larger cities ofter, such as concerts, malls, sporting events, and a broad choice of dining. Rolla is halfway between St. Louis and Springfield, both about an hour and a half drive, and to drive to one of those cities just to do stuff is kind of a drag. The only decent dining in Rolla is an Applebee's, Denny's and fastfood . It would be nice if there was more to do.
Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?
There are some people who fit each of these categories, and a disporportionate number of them are members of frats. Everyone is nerdy in someway but this isn't a bad thing as it lets nearly anyone fit in, regardless of interests.
The connectivity of the campus is great, walking to each class can be done from any point on campus in 15 minutes comfortably and usually 10 minutes isn't a problem.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, MO is the best engineering school in the state, and it rivals such school as Texas A&M and MIT in intelligence. It is also relatively cheap compared to some larger school for the valu of the degree you get.
First of all, be prepared for many foreign professors in the math department. I've had 2 Polish profs and a Chinese prof plus a Chinese TA and an Indian TA. Sometimes the accents can be a bit of a challenge.
I actually formed a friendship with a professor of Psychology and we spoke after class nearly every class period.
Classes are much harder than high school. I'm sure there are some students who can continue to breeze by, but the majority of students must put in many hours of effort, especially in Math and Engineering classes.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Well, one of the best parts about this school is that everything is super close together. To walk from one side of campus to another, it takes roughly 8 minutes. At some of my friends' schools, it takes them roughly 15 minutes taking a shuttle. Another awesome part about our school is that there is always some activity happening on campus. Every week, there can be up to 10 different events happening. That's very cool, but it makes figuring out what you want to do slightly difficult because there is so much to choose from.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The city of Rolla can be very boring. There is a small downtown that one can walk to from campus. The downtown has a comic shop if that's your thing. Other than that and eating out, there is Wal Mart, the closest thing Rolla has to a mall.
My school underwent a name change a few years back, from the University of Missouri-Rolla to Missouri University of Science and Technology, and that change illustrates exactly the traits for which my school is renowned. Missouri University of Science and Technology produces some of the brightest scientific and engineering-minded individuals in this country; we are an island of innovation and science in an otherwise agriculturally-focused state. Our solar car team competes against Ivy League schools. Our student body is diverse. The STEM education here is truly world-class, and student's pride couldn't be higher.
