The University of Tampa truly exceeded all of my expectations. From my first time on campus touring, the beautiful campus captured my love. Since beginning in the fall, I have learned about all of the amazing amenities and opportunity the college has to offer. From clubs of all sorts to inclusive student events, there's always an opportunity to be involved. While the student life does lack in the sports area, I truly have found this school to be filled of people who just love being there; making me like every person i've had the pleasure of meeting! The facility and professors are no less passionate about the school. I have only had good experiences so far of professors hoping for my success. Overall, while every school can have its drawbacks for each individual, I truly believe there is no school that would have been better for me. The University of Tampa has given me everything I wanted from college and more and I cannot wait to continue my next 3 years there.

I would say that it has changed my life and made me realize how happy I can be. It is where my peak happiness was reached and I can't wait to go back. This school has really changed my life for the better and has so much positive to bring. This school is not only so beautiful, but the buildings are so accessible and modern, the food options are plentiful and delicious, there are so many activities to be doing at all times, and the people there are so nice and welcoming, I've never felt more like myself at a place. I HIGHLY recommend Tampa!

The University of Tampa has a beautiful campus and I felt instantly at home. I loved that it wasn't a huge sports campus - I felt I was able to focus more on academics, though I did get heavily involved in Greek Life. I loved the sense of community it helped me build, through friendship and philanthropy. The professors were pretty accessible and willing to help.

GOING TO UTAMPA WAS THE WORST DECISION EVER. NO SENSE OF COMMUNITY - We do not have a football team and sports on campus are not even a thing. No one goes to the stadium to get involved. People are not proud to study here. FOOD IS TERRIBLE - I am not picky at all. Food is not fresh and everyone tells you that it is disgusting. A lot of greasy food mainly and most meals were not cooked correctly. NO DIVERSITY - Everyone is from the northeast, specifically Long Island and they are going to judge you if you are not from there. There are no international students and people from different states. NO ORGANIZATIONS - On the web, it says that they are organizations, but they are really not. If they are organizations, they do not have events to attend, so people are not involved. MEDIOCRE RANKINGS - The university does not have a good reputation within the city and it is worse across the country. It is maybe ranked number 500 in the nation and it is very costly for what they offer. REALLY EXPENSIVE - Tuition and the cost of living is high and it is constantly increasing. Literally, everything is expensive. IMPOSSIBLE TO GET INTO CLASSES WITH GOOD PROFESSORS -They do not have the professors to teach us, so scheduling your classes is nearly impossible and you will most likely get a terrible teacher. STUDENTS ONLY PARTY - Students go clubbing from Thursday- to Sunday. That is the only thing they do. If you do not party, they would judge you and you will have no friends. Clubs and drinks are expensive. Most people are spoiled, rude, stuck-up rich kids who only care about partying every single weekend. YOU HAVE TO BE IN A FRATERNITY/SORORITY TO MAKE FRIENDS - In order to make friends, you have to join those crazy frats that cost like 2 thousand dollars or more per year. They will probably make you do disgusting stuff. I was very lonely during the time that I was there because I did not join one. LOW GRADUATION RATE and retention % - Approx 50% of students graduate (50 of students graduate - VERY LOW) A lot of students leave UT for different motives. The most relevant is that they are not happy here, so they transfer to another place. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET HOUSING - If you do not get housing, which will probably happen if you come here, you would have to rent an apartment close to the university and that will be very expensive and far away from campus probably. TERRIBLE ADMISSION OFFICE - The admission office treats you like shit. They told me that I had a scholarship and after a year it disappeared, so I had to pay thousands of dollars to the university. I was about to sue the university, but it was more expensive and I was going to lose lots of time. DOWNTOWN IS DEAD. It looks nice, but there are only a few expensive restaurants and nothing else. It is dead and there is nothing to do. Pros: A nice campus that is a facade for how horrible this university really is and extremely hot weather with rain. Those are all the cons. Altogether, as you have probably seen, DO NOT GO TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA. Going here was literally the WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE. You will probably be depressed if you come here. It is like high school, but way worse.

    I think that in some cases class sizes are too small and the upper level courses are sometimes unavailable, making you to have to take summer classes or stay an extra semester.

    I wish I went and filled out as many scholarships and grants as possible instead of having to take out student loans. Doing so would have prevented me from having to pay back the money that I needed to continue on with my education.

    Most noted attribute is the diversity of schedules and depth of professionalism the staff convey. The completion to degree percentages are very good as well.

  13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

    The most frustrating thing about attending University of Tampa is not having any free transportation services. Although we have cab services that take us from the university of $3, it is hard to find a cab that will return students to the university on the $3 charge. A lot of campuses provide students with free shuttle services, but we do not have that option at the University of Tampa. This frustrates me because I want to and from school everyday as late as 8:30 at night because I cannot afford cabs every day.

    UT goes partying all the way since Thursday night till Sunday morning. There are many clubs here in Tampa but we students have our top five which we like to repeat every weekend. Student Productions is always working to bring comedians at least once every semester, they showcase movies every Friday and then the'll organize different very entertaining events every time they can.

  15. What are the academics like at your school?

    Classes in UT are relatively small, which makes them perfect because professors get to know your name. UT is focused in getting a student a job once they graduate, so education is focused towards making the student a proactive and effective professional. I don't feel the need to study that much, if you do what you are told within the assigned time then you'll be alright. Professors encourage participation in most of their classes, but most of my professors do it in a humorous way, which makes it very light and entertaining.

    UT is composed of 5K students which makes it perfect because after a while you get to know the faces and most of the names of everyone around you. I consider the weather to be perfect. The place where I spend most of my time is either the pool or plant park (when not studying). The people is very nice and outgoing and just in a semester I have made tons of friends!

    Absolutely not. It is a private school so there are students who come from well off families but it is most definitely not an overwhelming number of students.

    A big stereotype at UT is that there are a lot of rich kids, and there are. There are a lot of people from the New York and New Jersey Area, but there is a very good amount of diversity. There's a pretty big exchange program and there are kids from all 50 states. You'll find your geeks around campus, but they're a little harder to find unless at the library...

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
