FIT is a wonderful college that offers many opportunities to those who are interested in pursuing art. While it is primarily a fashion school, other programs like Fine Arts, Illustration, and Photography have well-qualified professors experienced in their respective fields. That being said, some aspects like their career center leave a lot to be desired for non-fashion students. As an Illustration major, there is practically nothing for me. Despite this grievance, the professors understand the competitiveness of the field and wish to assist students in any way they can. Being in the heart of Chelsea, there are many areas to hang out between classes as Ktown and the Highline are a few blocks away.

Seems like a good school but only visited for one day. The students seemed busy and we're talking about finals. Has a very good reputation in the Fashion industry. Well known and considered one of the top fashion schools in the world. buildings looked old and outdated

Going into my second year, I’ve experienced the school and the environment enough to know the energy will remain pretty similar throughout my education. The social aspect is lacking greatly due to its location (NYC) and the overall driven, plastic, “influencer” vibe of the people. Making connections can be hard and I often find myself more intrigued with teachers rather than my peers. This isn’t to say finding people is impossible, it’s just more difficult without having a sense of community or campus. I am enjoying my time and education at the school. I find that the professors I have had so far are well equipped and experienced in the field, making me more confident in my skills and career path. I look forward to my years to come.

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is not a traditional college. The majority of students do not partake in Greek life or sports, however that is not our main focus. At FIT, students are passionate about the arts, design, and business. We pour our hearts into creativity and communicating our unique identities through fashion and apparel. Although the campus itself is small, being located in the metropolis of New York City exposes students to diversity and amazing opportunities. Professors have immaculate industry experience and help students network for jobs after graduation. Classes are specifically tailored for each major in order to prepare students for their future careers. The Fashion Institute of Technology does not fail to provide its students with many resources and fun, engaging events.     If you come with ability and desire the resources are here. If you're coming primarily to party or go to frat events or football games go to Ohio State. To be in New York where it is all happening is incredible because of the interplay with people doing professionally and internationally the things you are studying.

    The stereotype of students at The Fashion Institute of Technology are students that are just super artsy and really into fashion. Which is entirely true. This is the perfect school to immerse yourself with people with the same interest and passions that you have. You will have an opportunity to meet friends who will inspire and challenge you and help you grow as an individual.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
