I was seriously considering ULM because it was highly recommended and suggested for several reasons. First, I have great uncles and aunts who attended ULM. They all told us many stories of the great times they had there. Secondly, I have many relatives that still live in Louisiana who could be my support group and provide me the assistance I need as a disabled student. Finally, they have a reputation for being a very supportive community and providing a great environment and a source of encouragement to minorities.

My opinion of University of Louisiana at Monroe is that, essentially it's a good school for STEM majors. However, when it comes down to the teachers actually teaching, guiding, and actually educating their students? They fall very short on the scale of success. Housing, Food, Extracurriculars, are a rating of 3/5. Most dorms and apartments have mold, spiders, and rats. The food is okay, however it could be more diverse as far as options. There's not much fun to have there, but it's not a horrible place to attend.

I like how the classes I take are close together and not spread too far apart. Morale is great and plenty of opportunities to be involved with religious groups and recreational activities. The dorm I live in is great and close to the main campus. I just love college life.

My opinion of ULM is great! The professors and even other students are quick to answer questions and help in any way they can. I appreciate how professional the faculty and staff behave; I find myself joining more and more groups on campus. There is always somewhere for anyone to fit in. I do not live on campus, but from what I have seen, they aren't the nicest accommodations. However, off campus is very nice. I have sincerely enjoyed my time so far at ULM!

I love the ULM. There are plenty of opportunities to participate in student groups. We are also well taken care of by the staff. It is like our own little family . The support that the students give to the football game is huge. Large crowds come every weekend to tailgate.

ULM is a quaint school situated in the heart of Monroe, right on Bayou DeSiard. This school is pretty small and most people here are either from Monroe or here for Pharmacy, but the campus is beautiful. The atmosphere is also nice because it’s not as busy as other campuses. It’s not a college I would recommend to someone if they weren’t a pharmacy major though.

It is a great school that offers great opportunities. The professors are very welcoming and are willing to work with you. Fellow students are friendly and courteous. The food options for those with allergies is not very good and can be improved upon.

Beautiful campus, but There are many changes on campus that involve money being spent, but it doesn’t help or affect the student body. Money needs to be used to improve dorms or something instead of fake grass, a water fountain, or a building for locals to rent. Tuition keeps going up and random fees are added, but there is no difference in the campus.

Throughout life I have never lost sight of my dreams. In order to obtain my goals and my dreams, I know that the key is perseverance. Motivation may come and go but perseverance is the only thing that will drive me to the finish line and beyond. Winning this scholarship will help me through college while I am able to focus on all of my goals. This scholarship will allow me to be able to put forth more time and effort into my studies and to help me achieve my goals in a timely manner. I’ve learned that time is far more valuable than people tend to believe. In fact, in time, anything can be healed, things can be brought into existence, and things can age. All in a matter of time. I truly believe that winning this scholarship will grant me much more than just the gift of time but it will bring me a step closer to accomplishing my goals and my dreams. I believe that hard work and perseverance is how I will attain everything I set my mind to. I would love the opportunity to earn this opportunity. Allow me to prove it to the world that I am able to follow through and achieve greatness. I look forward towards my future as I walk the steps of many great leaders that have paved the path for me.
I believe in me, don't you?

Overall a great university I recommend to many people, it is filled with kind and welcoming people and professors. It is an amazing campus with opportunities for everyone: greek life, spirit groups, sports, campus clubs (like CAB and SGA). The best is truly on the bayou.

I was a little sketchy about the school because i live in Monroe, but i love it. I'm a first-time freshman so i haven't fully gotten out there yet. Some professors are meh, but overall i like it so far. As far as student life, there is always an event or a workshop to go to and plenty of free food to go around.

Good school with some great professors. The administration needs to take a long hard look at the parking situation and come up with some solutions. It's very unprofessional to charge the tuition rates that ULM does, and not provide adequate parking.

Beautiful campus with a huge interest in sports. They have a bass fishing team that has won quite a few championships. The surrounding town is very nice and the people are friendly.
My recruiter was so helpful and available via text, call or email constantly. As we toured the campus the students were smiling and telling us hello.
Overall a very welcoming campus.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
You know what you want out of life. All you have to do is keep that in mind. Keep your head up...
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The fact that the campus is not very active after class hours really hurts the social life of campus. Because there isn't really anything to do on campus after class except study, everyone usually go home or find something to do away from the campus.
I consider the bayou to be the best thing about my school. It is very beautiful and relaxing which makes it enjoyable to be on campus. The bayou makes the campus one of a kinda.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
A student who is more interested in attending a college for fun and parties should not attend this school. This university offer many on campus activities; however, they make it very clear that we are there to learn, be responsible adults, and graduate. So anyone who has other intentions, would not enjoy this school.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I think the scenery is unique. Also, it feels like we are all one big family here. People are usually more than willing to help with any problem that may arise. This includes professors.
Someone who is interested in living on campus, very involved accademically, and likes the convenience of having most of everything (classes, bank option, gym) within walking distance.
I believe ULM is an amazing school. There are many opportunities here. I think the small town vibe is great. It minimizes some of the distractions of being in a big city (New Orleans, Baton Rouge etc.). If I could change one thing I would change the separation of different groups of people. Most people that attend this school are from small cities and come in packs, people don't tend to get out of their comfort zone of friends. When I tell people I go to ULM, most ask why I would want to be so far away from home and in the "country". I tell them I wanted to move away and meet new people without being distracted from big venues. I spend most of my time on campus at the SUB. It is such a fun environment and there is ALWAYS something going on. The administration is overall very helpful and well educated. We all bleed maroon and gold because school is important here. I'll always remember my experience of Greek life. The most frequent complaints students have about campus is parking.Overall it is a wonderful campus to get an education.
Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.
The University of Louisiana-Monroe is more concerned with its athletic students and athletic accomplisments than it is with its academic students and their endeavours.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
The most popular organizationa are NPC and NPHC Greeks. I'm involved in NPHC Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. We are the last sorority to create "The Divine 9". We do community service on campus and off, and we are devoted to our education. Athletic events are important on campus. Basketball and football are the bigger of them. Alumni come and support and show school spirit all the time. The theater program is thriving and puts on many productions throughout the semester. Dating may seem difficult because the school is not that big. I met my closest friends by being randomly paired with them as my roommates and by being in my sorority. If I was awake at 2am on a Tuesday I would clean or study until I got sleepy unless one of my roommates were up to converse with me. Week of Welcome, Spring Fever, and probates are all events to look forward to each year. I think people party every weekend. There is always something to do because local clubs host college nights. Greek life is VERY important. Last weekend I went to a Kappa Alpha Psi party. Students love to go skating, bowling, or to the movies. I like to go the mall and go bowling off campus.
Most teachers don't take the time to know your name unless you want them to know it. If you take the initiative to go to their office and ask questions and get help they will remember you. My favorite class so far has been College Algebra because I love the humor of my teacher and I like math. My least favorite was biology because I didn't apply myself as much as I should and it was a lot of information to learn. Class participation is usually a grade in every class taken on campus. I've engage in many intellectual conversations outside of the classroom, such as political issues, social downfalls, etc. My major is Psychology and I love it! All my classes have been enjoyable and the department heads and very informative and helpful. The academic requirements and reasonable, of course I don't fully agree with the attendance policy but I know it's in place for a reason. Education is geared towards getting a job and professors will help you figured out which job would be best for you.
I decided to go to ULM because it was out of state but still close to home. Both of my parents attended the university so I was able to get alumni scholarships plus my out of state tuition wavered do to good grades and a good ACT score!
