I have come out of my shell, and have learned I have to study. I have learned what my study habits need to become, and how to approach things from a different perspective. I am a more mature adult now than I was last fallterm. I have a broader outlook on life now and am not so close-minded.

Exposure. I believe my exposure to diversity has been the greatest aspect of my college experience. Anyone can learn facts or increase their knowledge base, but experiences are the real teachers in life.
I was raised in a very conservative home and was very sheltered most of my life. I was very opinionated, but those opinions had no empirical basis and simply reflected the environment in which I was raised. College was an eye-opening experience because it challenged my belief structure. I was exposed to different view points, life styles, political opinions and religions...and I LOVED it!!! I learned that diversity is what makes humanity. People are, and should be, different. And they should be accepted for those differences without judgement or moral labeling.
During my college years, I stuck firm to some beliefs and completely changed others. What is important is that now, my opionions and my viewpoints are my own, based on experience. Additionally, I learned to recognize my own personal bias, and try not to let it get in the way of appreciating people and viewpoints that are different from myself.

I need this scholarship due to the fact that I currently work for a non profit organization that can no longer afford to pay for my school, and neither can I. I will graduate this December with my Diesel certificate with a 4.0. I will graduate next semester with an associates in applies science next semester, if I can come up with the money. After which I plan to pursue my Bachelors in Industrial Technology at Texas A&M. In choosing to grant me this scholarship you will help me continue to pursue my education so that I may develop into a well educated mechanic and continue to build drill rigs for Living Water International, which drills water wells in foreign countries and teaches people about God. Our site is www.water.cc thank you and may God bless you

I have learned that with great drive comes success. I am very determined to make something of myself and apply what this university is teaching me to help others. The knowledge that I have obtained from this university thus far is vast. I have learned things from the unique structures of the heart, to the person that I want to become one day. Knowledge is my key to success, my ticket to becoming a Labor & Deliver Nurse one day. I am gaining knowledge at this school, which is something that can never be taken away. It is far more valuable than any pair of shoes, dress, or car I will ever buy. I am very thankful for the opportunity that I have been given to attend college. The University of North Florida is giving me the knowledge to be able change lives forever. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is everything.

College is not only to get an education and become what you want but to learn how to live on your own and live on a budget. College life is also to have a social life and interact with different people. In college you can find friends, best friends or even your future spouce. I have enjoyed my college experience and I have learned how to live. These are the things I have gotten out of my college experience.

College is so different from high school; you have so much more freedom. I have come to know, that your teachers still care about you, even though it shouldn't matter to them whether you come to class or not. Going to college has been valuable to me, because it has taught me that I have so many different possibilities. I didn't know that I had so many opportunities as to what I could become. Before I had ever stepped foot on campus I was so afraid that I wasn't going to fit in, and that no one would except me. I now know that there will always be someone around that you at least have one thing in common. I have already learned many things from my experience of college; I can't wait for the years ahead!

I have gotten nothing but good from my college experience so far. I love the experience of walking outside and breathing in fresh air, and being greeted by a bunch of friendly smiles around campus. I love the freedom that I get living on campus; granted it is a bit harder without mom and dad to budget for me, but it is a great opportunity to take care of ourselves and start our lifes as adults. It is a valuable experience because it broadens my mind and increases my skills with people, technology and new knowledge given to me by my professors. I truly love my school and it is a great fit to my personality, I can feel the changes already from merely a month of living here! The best part of it all is the education I am receiving which will further my steps into life and help me get a job that I will love; because it will be more than a job,it will be a careeer!

This college experience led me on the path of my own self-discovery and growth as a person. This journey has led me to meet some amazing professors and students from diverse backgrounds and ethnicites which taught me a lot. It's been in these key years of my life where I discovered who I really am and what I truely belive in. The classes I've taken, particularly philosophy and language, have helped change the way I think about people and the world in general. I have a whole new perception on life and I want to use what I've learned to change the world. I now realize how much influence my generation and I have on society and I am going to do great things with my education. This whole experience has been invaluable to the planning of my future and my goals.

I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I majored in English and minored in business. As I approached my senior year, I was able to land a full-time job as a writer/journalist at a small company. Out of money and energy to finish my degree, I entered my professional job with enough knowledge to help expand this business into a bigger and better venture. Every class I took, from historical geography to business law plays a part in my ability to run the company. Now, I'd like to offer my children to do something I was unable to complete because of financial reasons. I want them to graduate college. I'm so focussed on this goal that I'm applying for this scholarship for my son who enters 6th grade this year. Please consider my application on behalf of Lucas Zelnio, my aspiring doctor, who will put the money to very good use. Awarding a scholarship to a middle school student will do nothing but solidify his hopes and dreams to excel in school and to complete his college degree.
