From the moment I first stepped foot on campus, I felt at home. After sitting through orientation, tours, and countless other activities- I know that it is a wonderful establishment. There is nothing about campus and the surrounding areas that I do not like.

I love Kent State University. The first time I ever went to visit I automatically fell in love. The whole campus is beautiful, it's great how much is around and how much you can do. I have always felt very at home and safe going there. I am very excited to continue my academic carrer there. I cannot wait to see whatmy future holds at Kent State!

Great and affordable school with plenty of "college life".. Whatever you are looking for is there, as people from all walks of life that attend this school. There is a group or people to hang out with for everyone. Downtown is only a few minutes away from campus and is great on the weekends.

Sarah - 03/16/2023

I heard about Kent when I went there for a gymnastics camp. I really liked Kent after that. Doing the college visit proved that this was the right decision for me. Class size, campus life, safety and good faculty is so important to me. Leaving the campus after the visit I felt like they checked every box.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

As a high school student, I valued education, but did not work as hard as I should have. I figured when time came, I would work hard for honors in college. Now, as a college student, if I could go back in time I would tell myself a couple of things. First, I would tell myself to not worry about the teachers that were "out to get me" or the friend that stabbed me in the back or treated me bad. I would say, "Don't worry about your personal mistakes, those won't matter in college." Second, I would tell myself once I got over the little mistakes, to study hard. In high school, I didn't realize how my actions would affect college acceptance. I could have education payed for instead of working full time through summer, and having to alter my school schedule to get in 17 hours of work during fall and spring. I would tell myself I have a 3.9 in college, so strive for that in high school, because when time came, I'd rather be studying for my degree than struggling to balance work and studies to simply stay in school.

  8. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I knew more than other students, due to the fact I joined an early summer program called Acacdemic S.T.A.R.S program. The Academic STARS Program is a freshman year transition/retention program that begins with a seven-week summer program. The summer program offers a unique opportunity to earn up to 7 credit hours that will be applied toward graduation and an introduction to a wide range of resources available at Kent State University; therefore, I wish more students were aware of the same program.

  16. What is your overall opinion of this school?

I attend a branch campus of Kent State University, and I LOVE the fact that I can complete my entire degree right at the branch without having to commute to the main campus. So it's great that the branch is so close to home! I enjoy that the campus is small (very small), making it easy to get to know the professors and others students. Having transferred from Youngstown State University, I ogle at the professionality of the faculty at Kent. Especially the professors, who actually want to teach the students, and the advisors who are mavericks of the system. Kent Trumbull needs to provide an outlet for creativity! Right now the look and feel is about as inspiring as my psych professor's drone. How about BRIGHT RED sofas in the lounge or a floor to ceiling bulletin board from one end of the hall to the other?
