I think that Loyola University New Orleans is a fantastic institution that prioritizes understanding and open-mindedness through a commitment to learning and relearning. The classes that I've taken there have been some of the most eye-opening experiences of my life and, although it lacks the charm and appeal of a grand state institution, more than makes up for its small scale by its hands-on learning and individual student opportunities. Plus, classes of fewer than twenty students mean everyone can ask questions.

Loyola is a very diverse and unique school. The people here are super open, nice and welcoming, but I feel like their is a lot that Loyola could fix such as: remodel all of the dorms buildings, remodel the class buildings, extend longer gym hours, go down on the prices of things, and have more on campus events. Loyola can get very boring at times, since our school is so small. I like to spend most of my time at Tulane University, since it is right next to Loyola. Being at Tulane feels like I am really in college. Loyola reminds me a lot of highschool.

Loyola is a great school that gives their students plenty of opportunities in and out of the classroom. Most teachers are very caring and easy to get ahold of. Their main focus is making sure students succeed. Everyone here is very friendly and accepting to people of all different backgrounds, races, sexualities, and genders. Although some people know the school because of the incredible music program, we also have very strong and successful business, science, law and nursing programs as well. You are guaranteed to become a well rounded individual here!

Loyola's Biology department is full of great professors. Overall, the school has a small community which can be both a positive and negative. It is easy to feel a part of a community, but the school gets cliquey at times. Classes are also limited since the spots and professors are few. There are few dining options on campus, but New Orleans is full of local food to try.

I like Loyola University and it is a great place to meet new people and make connections! However, in my department some classes have been left up to teachers that have no experience as graphic designers and it has been difficult to take these classes seriously and learn new information.

I love to intimate size of campus and classrooms. The facilities could use some work, but after all, the school was founded just about 500 years ago. Most people here are locals, but you also have a healthy mix of people from other states, and countries.

Amazing place to be part of. The community, peers, and educators are a huge help. The sense of community and belonging in this school is very powerful. Loyola is resourceful with many different connections that facilitate your experience within your field. The professors seem to genuinely care on if you pass or fail.

Beautiful campus, wonderful staff and helpful students everywhere on campus. There is always something to be involved in, and to meet new people. The campus is in the heart of the city so everything on campus and outside of campus plays a major part to the school and the culture of New Orleans. I cannot wait to complete my school years here at this campus and to graduate and say that this was the best experience for me.

Loyola is a great school. The campus is beautiful and it’s in a beautiful area of New Orleans. There are a lot of restaurants and bars nearby, and it’s pretty easy to Uber anywhere else. The classes are small. The teachers and staff seem to really care. There is a strong focus on using your talents to help others.

I believe that Loyola University New Orleans is a university unlike any other. It is a school located in one of the most historical cities in the United States, a private school focused on the greater good of their students. Their campus is beautiful and their history program is astounding. It is a school for students who want the big campus experience without the big campus.

Loyola University, New Orleans is one of the best universities in the United States. We are on the French Quarter, where we celebrate the Mardi Gras, (before the Ash Wednesday), but we have a lot of activities during the year. We celebrate the French history and the Spanish history, because is the only state that was domain by Spain and by France, before being part of the United States. The weather is a little changing, but we have lot of parks and lot of places where you can be one with the nature. The student services are hilarious and the food is very rich, giving the opportunity of mixed the cultures that are part of our community.

A school full of kind students and staff, most who are passionate about what they are studying or teaching. New Orleans is a great city for school, there are a lot of things to do nearby, that's for sure. Though a lot of things means there is a decent amount of partying. There is a lot of parties going on but you have to either hang out with people who like attending or just actively look out for it. Also, the school does really do its best to encourage students to go to the success center, please use it to your advantage. It is very helpful, has helped my GPA, and the staff is always kind and ready to help!

Although I do not currently attend Loyola, I have been to visit on multiple occasions, gone through the entire application and audition process, and many of my close friends are currently attending the school. Every experience I have had with Loyola has been enjoyable. The people are very nice and the artistic atmosphere is exactly what I am looking for as a student.

Overall, Loyola University New Orleans is a great college and environment to be apart of. All the students, faculty and administrators are extremely helpful and want you to achieve everything you can and more. It's one of the most inclusive places I've had the honor to attend. How close-knit it is here is unparalleled. The architecture is also breathtaking and the on campus church is simply beautiful. The school is more than a place to learn, rather it's somewhere designed to help everyone find their niche in their own way.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
Plan to live on campus. If not, spend as much time as you can on campus. This school is NOT for commuters. If you allow yourself to join in on the campus activities you will have the time of your life.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The tuition for the school is the only real complaint I have about the school; though they are truly generous with merit scholarships, the price of a good education is still enough to make some students to have to transfer out.
The best thing about Loyola is the diversity and understanding. Of course there is always going to be a few ignorant people, but one learns a lot about the other people that attend Loyola. One learns a lot about other cultures and other people's way of living, and by learning, stereotypes are broken.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
There is not a HUGE community based aroung the universities in New Orleans. To eat fast food, go shopping, see a movie, or go out, it usually involves a car trip or a somewhat lenghty walk.
The students at Loyola University are all very unique and fun-loving, and they all have a strong sense of self and the future they want for themselves.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I dont really brag about much but being able to say i attend Loyola University makes me feel proud since it is such a high regarded school acidemically .
Loyola University is the only Jesuit University with a school of music. Within our unique music school we have the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, which is well known to musicians throughout the United States. The Thelonious Monk Institute is perhaps the most prestigious jazz oriented program in New Orleans, a city known for its jazz music heritage. Another thing Loyola is known for is its volunteer programs, most specifically LUCAP, which have served the New Orleans area since the 1970s.
The average student-to-faculty ratio at Loyola is 11:1 with class sizes of 22 (typically) so the students and teachers get to know each other. Plus, there are over 300 full-time faculty and of the 91{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} have a terminal degree -- so the quality of the education is top-notch.
Loyola also brings in guest speakers regularly, so there is no shortage of learning outside the classroom.
Loyola has an end goal for students, it isn't just learning for the sake of learning. The average class load is anywhere from 12-20 hours so there is time and plenty of opportunity for off-campus internships.
Loyola has a career services center that works closely with students to help with job placement. Every year there are over 150 professional businesses and/or grad schools that come on campus to do interviews. In recent years Loyola had graduates who were hired by ABC News, Apple, the LA Times, The Washington Post and Shell Oil Company.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
Loyola offers over 100 student organizations to get involved in, including: greek life (6 fraternities, 10 sororities), athletics, student publications, service groups, performing arts and more! . Plus, with Loyola being located in New Orleans there is always something to do at any time, day or night.
Loyola has 9 Varsity Sports and is in Division I (NAIA). Athletics is pretty big with just under 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of both men and women participating in some kind of athletics. Plus, there are performing arts performances and tons more to do on campus.
Loyola University is located in Uptown New Orleans right on St. Charles Avenue. You couldn't find a more perfect college town than New Orleans. The campus size is pretty big and spans a few blocks in uptown N.O. but it's completely walk-able. Many students walk or ride bikes to and from classes.
All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
