I was always education oriented. I always stayed on top of my school work and my grades. I never allowed myself to be peer pressured into drugs or skipping school. Some advice that I would give to other is to know who you are and don't allow space for negativity. Going to college is a huge transition for some people. Just keep in mind that your main goal is to get an education and to establish a career. If you stay positive and remain focused, the sky is the limit. Always remember to dream big and stay encouraged. Times do get hard, just remember that if it were always easy, then it would really be no justified reasoning to do it. College is too expensive to come and flunk out. Do not be distracted by peer pressure, partying, and lazyness. It is a lot of work so come prepared. Allow time for studying and relaxing. You need plenty of rest to be strong enough to succedd. Stay positive and remain alert and focused. Transitioning from high school to college is a big step in life. It displays growth and maturity.

I would very much let myself know the importance of developing my technical and organizational skills and abilities. I would also learn the importance of developing my skill set and also learn the importance of internships, leadership programs and research opportunities in my college career. I would also enlighten myself about post graduate measures, the importance getting a masters degree or an MBA. I would let myself understand the committment involved in electrical engineering and start to build up my knowledge in my major at an early age. I would also be able to compare my major to other disciplines so that i may understand the which focus in electrical engineering i would like to be involved in, as electrical engineering is a very vast field. I would encourage myself to be very studious, hardworking and willing to learn. I would develop a good knowledge and network by learning to interact well with my collegues and also attend various engineering related conferences and information sessions. i would also engage in various pre college engineering programs and lastly I would also learn to strive to be the best in everything i put my mind to do.

If I were to be able to give myself advice about college. I would tell myself to make time to study, all the time you can afford. It is not fun losing aid because you choose to hangout with friends or just put off projects until last minute. And if you have a question about an assignment, ASK! I have learned this the hardway, do not try to "guess" what the teacher wants, just ask. Stop by their office and let them read/see the assignment, most teachers are more than willing to give advice and steer you in the right direction. And if that teacher won't, ask another teacher even if it is not their class. I have not met a college professor who didn't want their students to succeed. Always, and I mean always double check due dates. Even if you have it written down, double check a few days before to make sure that you have the right date, nothing is worse then showing up to class empty handed because you got confused on what day and assignment is due. And most of all, enjoy the experience. Learn everything you can.

HAVE FUN! Life is too short to miss out on things because you are worried what you look like. Throw that bathing suit on, get in the ocean and SWIM! Don’t wait until your junior year of college to take a computer class. Get into it early, you have a knack and one day you’ll make a career out of making web sites. I would also tell myself strive for perfection and do whatever makes yourself happy. Go play Soccer!

I would tell myself to listen closely in class even when you don't understand something. If not being able to understand something was the case then I would tell myself to go see the teacher after class. i would also tell myself to don't take a single class for granted take advantage of free education. Finally i would remind myself of the major I ended up Persueing and to take classes in high school that would help me better excel in college.

Jansen, you are about to enter the real world and you need to understand that you are not a child anymore. It is time to open your eyes to the possibilities and responsiblities. The whole world is out there for you to grasp, you just need to take the first few baby steps that will benefit your life greatly. Always stay ontop of things and trust in yourself to make the right decisions in life. There are always time for fun and such, but time is only limited for you to achieve the long term goals you have/will set. You must understand that relying on others is not a good way of living, but to ensure success you must watch for your own achievements. Set goals and follow through with the plan. The only person standing in the way of your success range is yourself and you no longer need to stand there and contimplate about the issues at hand. Fight through it and you will walk the right path. Follow this advice and I am sure you will craft a master piece that we will look back upon and be proud.
